Tristan, Chad and Jamal did a great job installing a new sump pump system in my crawlspace. They were very professional. Answered all my questions. Very easy to work with. The only frustration was that I was told that a battery back up was not available on my system. But then when it was installed, I was told add it in the future. If I could give a zero star this would fit. Sumner from Fortress Foundation Solutions otherwise known as All things Basementy came out last Tuesday September 8 2026 to look at my wet basement and crawlspace. Although he was nice enough he seemed more focused on selling his services along with the brochures, iPad, presentation, etc..I did not get the feeling that he knew a whole lot about my situation. I walked him around the exterior and basement interior describing the issue. He wasn't taking notes nor did he even have a flashlight on hand to look in my crawlspace to observe my concerns. He did his thing for almost an hour then came back to talk. I asked him specific questions about the crawlspace which he couldn't answer and mostly dodged by saying he had to write things up. Moreover, his clothes were perfectly clean confirming my suspicions that he never crawled into the crawlspace like he said he would do. And no I never saw him put on a jumpsuit or any protective outerwear. He told me he spent years crawling into attics and now crawlspaces were his expertise. Anyway we finished talking and he said it would take him 2 days to work up some estimates and he would email or call. It's been 1 week and I never heard from him or the company. Very very unprofessional. I do not recommend this company or at least Sumner for an inspection. If they don't want to do the work, they should simply tell me. Must be nice to be so busy that they can blow off customers. Save yourself. Go elsewhere. read more

We had cracks in our driveway and back patio. While I feel they did a decent job in raising the concrete and fixing the cracks, the finish work, not so much. I specifically asked the little guy that quoted the job about seeing the discoloration between their filler and the concrete already there and he responded that they did a really good job of matching the concrete and the discoloration would be minimal. Well its not so we decided we would paint the concrete to cover it. I am totally disappointed. You can see every crack they fixed. I thought $4700 was very reasonable to do the job we needed doing. Now I know why. They came in here and in 3 hours did a job that I thought would likely have taken 2 days. Like I said, the cracks are mostly fixed, with the exception of one that they are going to have to do over, and for that I am thankful, but Im not at all happy with the finished product simply because I feel it was grossly misrepresented. Asked Fortress to come level a carport slab for me, it had cracked in the center and erosion and compaction over the years before we bought the house had dropped the middle more than 6 in down, making The carport comically awkward to use, and draining all the water from rain directly into the center of the carport. Jamey Elder came out and after some talking with me about the history of the slab and seeing the surrounding area, he decided putting poly level under the slab to lift it could fix the problem and quoted us a very competitive price. He was unsure about how much foam it would take, but quoted us on the light side to be sure not to overcharge. Tim Gregorin and Kimbel Burch came out and cut the slab, lifted it about 4 inches until it met the original attic ladder, caulked it back up and cleaned everything up before they left. I was a bit suspicious of the slab shape when they left, it still looked like it had a bow in it, so I threw some water down on it to make sure it shed water, and it didn't! Turns out, there was a bit of a bowl poured into the original concrete that was preventing it from shedding water out the end, we'd never seen it because there used to be a crack in the middle all the water was draining through. Sent Tim some photos and he and Kimbel came back out two days later and put MORE foam under it, lifting another inch and a half, putting it up high enough that the original slab would now shed water, even with the bowl that was originally in it. The owner, Jerry, charged me NOTHING for this, we are tight on cash and are so thankful! Happy customer here, and a company that wants to make you happy :) read more

This is only for the concrete lifting aspect. I agree with Connie S, review dated 9/6/25. I had a crack across a slab in front of my house on the walkway. Same issue. I asked the estimator if it would work for a crack like that extending all across the slab. He said it would. After several tries, I ended up with an obvious filled in crack across the whole slab, plus when they injected the foam, it caused one section to shift. It is really unsightly especially since it is the slab directly in front of my porch step. It costs way too much to end up with this type of result. Plus, it now also has a dip in one section that collects water when it rains. They did however give me a partial $500 refund, but I anticipate having to replace the whole thing when I sell my house. I told them that they really should know that the result would not be satisfactory with that type of crack, they are the experts, and that I would not recommend this process in this situation. read more

Since moving to Virginia I have had one bad experience after another with an array of home service professionals. They are all salespeople first and professionals second. Each time, whether it's flooring, HVAC, roofers, etc., there was a pitch for the preferred product of the contractor, not the solution to my problem. Each time there was a mistake in the work, followed by the profuse apology and swearing that I was the first customer to complain in decades, then the promise to correct the mistake, then the promise to finish correcting the mistake that wasn't finished, and so on. All of it eventually ended in what I call "contractor fatigue" where I just give up and settle for shoddy work. Fortress Foundation Solutions has restored my faith in humanity, and the home services industry. I need to give a special shout-out to Sonny Kingsbury from the Lynchburg office for listening to me, taking his time to learn about my situation and especially for jumping into action on my behalf when I needed it. Sonny is the real deal. He alone earned the entire company 5-stars. But, it's not just Sonny that makes this company fantastic. When the crew -- Jordan, Justin and a third team member -- showed up to do the work they were on time, professional and courteous. Then they proceeded to do awesome work. Jordan walked me through what was going to happen and everything checked out with what I ordered. He checked in with me and asked me my preferences on several details throughout the work. I was particularly happy with how they interacted so nicely with my children. Top notch guys! Their work was completely thorough. They finished the work and cleaned my house as if it were their own mother's place. They replanted the sod in my yard and laid grass seed, covered with straw, for good measure. They filled in the hole in my basement and expertly covered the hole with cement -- it looks like they weren't even there. They removed the old equipment and I never saw it again -- I assume the took it to a landfill. The best part is that they did all this stuff without me having to ask them to do it! We recently moved into new home and several months later discovered crack on the outside brick wall. Fortress Foundations sales rep Santiago came and told us that this is a very serious foundation issue, that corner of our house is sinking and we need to have seven push piers installed to stabilize foundation. Three weeks before scheduled work they notified us that it will cost us additional two thousand dollars because apparently Fairfax County is now requiring to have soil inspection performed before Fortress Foundation can even start repairs and also that Fairfax County requires independent inspector to be present during repairs. Apparently, according to Fortress this is a new thing which never happened before and Fortress Foundations was very surprised that Fairfax County is now requiring soil tests and independent inspector to be present. We contacted Fairfax County and they responded that they always require soil inspection and independent inspector to be present and there is nothing new there and Fortress Foundations was definitely aware of these requirements. Well, we just wanted to fix the problem and agreed to pay additional two thousand dollars. Installation of push piers was performed at the end of November. It required excavation to the house foundation footing to install seven push piers. Fortress Foundation foreman Cody and his crew came to perform installation of push piers. After installation Fortress Foundation just used the dirt which was excavated to fill seven huge holes right next to house walls. They didn't even try to compact the soil and left because they had to move the crew to the new job site the next day. Last night pretty bad rain storm started and when I went outside to check I found that the water is now standing right against the walls of the house where Fortress is installed push piers. Because Fortress is never compacted the soil and it is very soft and muddy, it is now impossible to even stand next to the walls where repairs were done. My boots were sinking into the ground several inches anywhere close to area of repairs. I had to go in the middle of the night and cover with tarp the area where Fortress Foundation performed repairs because standing rain water accumulated against the walls. They were supposed to at least properly grade and compact the area where repairs were done but they were quick to collect their money and took off. Now, instead of crack on the wall we have problem of water getting into our basement and that might cause significant damage to the house. Instead of fixing the problem permanently Fortress Foundations created significant new problem of water getting into the basement. I hired this company hoping that as professional company they will fix problem with crack on the wall but instead they created much, much worse problem of water getting into our basement. Another huge issue is that they just dumped all soil and clay which they excavated just on the surface right next to the house. If before we had grass growing next to the walls of the house, now we have mud, gravel, stones, bricks, pieces of drainage pipe and garbage which Fortress Foundations left where repairs were done. Nothing can grow where they installed push piers. It's just mud and stones which they excavated from under the surface and dumped around our house to cover the holes where push piers were installed. We now have to spend significant amount of money to remove dirt and clay which Fortress just left, install new screened soil, properly compact soil, grade It to take the water away from the house. Only after that we can install top soil and grass to at least visually return area of repairs to how it looked before. If you are looking for company which can be excellent to expand small issue into huge new problem which will cost you a lot more to fix then Fortress Foundations Solutions is right company deal with. Otherwise, just please take my advice and stay away from this company. read more

I had the pleasure of meeting with the owner Jerry to take a look at our basement when there was all the rain here recently and it was taking on water. He was very knowledgeable and honest. The pricing also seemed extremely fair. Like I always do, I did get a second opinion with JES which was a waste of time. It was just up selling and they appeared to just be trying to get as much money as possible from you unlike Jerry. The whole experience has been great with Fortress Foundations. The office staff are very friendly and helpful. The crew that arrived was young men but they were extremely professional and all of them were knowledgeable. You normally do not find a whole crew of professional, polite, individuals like they had. The leader Matt was also awesome. He answered all my questions (which were a ton) and left me feeling that everything was installed properly due to his knowledge. Anyone who needs waterproofing done should come here.
