I had a couple of questions about the drinks -- like whether taro was similar to ube, and if it was sweet -- and the employee helping me seemed annoyed and uninterested. She stayed on her phone during the interaction, gave me short answers, and made me feel like I was bothering her for simply trying to understand what I was ordering. After she made my drink, I went to put the straw in, and only then was I told that I was supposed to shake it first. When I asked why she didn't mention that before, she replied, "If you drink boba and milk tea, you should know." For context, this is only my second time ever trying boba. Instead of offering helpful info or friendly service, I felt talked down to and dismissed. I was excited to try something new -- but this interaction left a bad taste in my mouth before I even sipped the drink.
