6 pm Oct 11. A faithful shopper at this location for at least 10 years. Did groceries today, then went to the hot food section to get two dinners which we do quite often. Staff was good as usual as they are mainly kids, which is great to see. I am am 3rd in line to pay and a couple brings their groceries to the hot food check out including alcohol to check out. Staff did the right thing to help them, but because of the alcohol the checkout had to be attempted 3 times. The 3 customers including myself waited about 10 minutes to check out with out hot food. Here is where you went wrong. A male manager the entire time was leaning against the condiment area watching, while gabbing away to a friend of his. Watching the disaster at the cash he never once attempted to help. Shame on him for poorly representing Fortino's and setting a very poor example to the staff. While this happens an Asian man cuts into the check out ahead or the 3 people ahead of him, including the elderly man who had difficulty walking. The staff told him that he was not next in line and that others were ahead of him. He said shut up. The manager again did nothing. I spoke up to the asian man to get back in line where he was and do the right thing and to not be so rude. He told me to F off. The manager again witnessed it all and did nothing. I stepped forward and the Asian man pushed me aside continuing with the arrogant attitude. Manager and his buddy continued talking and said nothing. After this I left the dinners on the counter and walked out. So much for fostering positive relations with customers or a safe customer environment .... We will re evaluate our spending relationship effective immediately with this location. Possibly retrain this manager to actually be an active part of the store. read more

Staff are always friendly and polite, they pack groceries in your reusable bags for you, the cafe's coffee is top-tier, I love the unique snacks in the aisles. The meat tastes great, and the bakery has amazing pastries. I love everything about this store. It is much more modern interior than the Fortinos' on New Street. Plenty of parking, and designated spots near the entrance for expectant mothers/mothers with young children. Be wary of other drivers but otherwise, great store! read more

This location is very spacious and has many advantages: It has a lot of parking spots available; you can buy hot meal from variety of options (salad, pizza, pasta, fried chicken, fried seafood, etc.) and it has dining area to sit down and enjoy the hot meal you bought (Definitely not in COVID pandemic and only on normal times). Store is clean and staff are helpful. read more

The baked goods section between 9am-5pm at Fortinos 5111 New Street, those women have an attitude problem. The coffee section they're friendly and welcoming and for the most part the whole store is great. This afternoon on my lunch I went with my coworker to get something sweet. My coworker was there first, was standing ready to say her order, when they just ignored her and asked me if I needed help. I was behind my coworker. Now some can say she might not have been seen, but i saw her look right at the lady, she called her other worker and they totally ignored my friend and asked me what I wanted. Annoyed my friend/coworker walked away empty-handed not saying a word. Fortinos have your employees do better! I am not going to point out what was the obvious reason they ignored her, because if yesterday someone cried about unfair treatment because of how they looked, I would have said bull. But today I witnessed this myself and I was disgusted. Especially because the two women working behind the counter are both immigrants themselves! And my coworker was born and raised here! Fortinos train your workers to be better, or just hire better. read more

Pizza maker named Francisco saw me waiting at cash yet he walked towards the back. There were no other staff members with him at the moment therefore he could've easily helped me instead of just ignoring me. I waited for help and nobody attended me therefore I had no choice but to walk away. read more

I ordered some sandwich platters from this Fortino's not too long ago. Now, you should know, I consider myself a sandwich tray afficianado, so you can trust me when I say Fortino's makes a good one. I ordered a basic platter and the slightly nicer one- cannot remember their names. Both a fairly good value and could easily serve 15-20 each. My only "complaint", and I say that lightly, was that the bread on the nicer tray was a bit hard. I think it was a crusty or rustic baguette. Tasted great but was difficult to get a bite of. I also ordered a 24 pack of cupcakes from them and they were all beautiful. Wish I had more occasions to order catering from Fortino's. They have great stuff. Their pizzas are to die for as well! read more

We are so pleased with the meal we ordered from Fortino's catering. We ordered Chicken Parm, Wings, Mac and Cheese, and Mashed Potatoes . The food was amazing, the service was outstanding and we will definitely order another meal from Fortino's in the near future. On my way back from ECS coffee and driving along Dundas street, I spotted this Fortino's and decided to drop in. It is much bigger than the Fortino's in Oakville. The hot food section is amazing. There is a little coffee bar, a made-to-order pizza area, hot food section, Asian section and a salad bar. Each area is it's own little individual stop and really speaks to the size of this place. As usual, all Fortino's raw meat and fish is very fresh and top notch, but a bit pricey, however service is very good. Overall, if I lived in the area, I'd drop by this Fortino's to get lunch. This is a lovely grocery store. The front portion of the store has ready made take-out food. There are 16 different freshly made soups made daily - try the Red Curry Thai Chicken or the Tuscan Ribolitta for unique tastes. Freshly made sandwiches are grilled on the panini press upon request. Freshly made pizza, chicken, ribs, salads and prime rib, complete with mashed potatoes and all the traditional fixings are available. There is also fresh sushi and a lovely flower shop. The produce section is well laid-out and has a good selection of organic offerings. The meat and seafood sections offer very fresh choices. The only downside I will point out to this store is the higher comparative cost of packaged goods. Most items can be found at more competitive prices at other grocery stores. I usually shop for produce and proteins here, but leave packaged goods to purchase at other stores. Overall, however, a very nice grocery store. read more

Headed over to this location for lunch today, it was clean and busy! When I went to Carvery to pick up something, there were two employees having a conversation. One with her back to me, the other facing me. I made eye contact and smiled politely to the girl facing me multiple times, as if to say, "Hi, I'm here and ready to order," but was ignored. I walked away and it was as if I hadn't been standing there at all, and the conversation continued. Don't get me wrong, I've worked in the service industry and I understand how sometimes you just don't want to be there. But at least acknowledge the customer. Even a quick, "Be right with you!" would've been better than being blatantly ignored. I headed over to Soup & Sandwich, ordered my half sandwich & soup combo, but it was only when I got back to the office that I realized how "half" my sandwich would be. It was about half the size of a smartphone. I was told that because it was prime rib, it would be more expensive, which is absolutely understandable. But this thing? Definitely not worth $9.08. read more

If you're a live to eat person, then this is your kind of grocery store. Yes it can be pricey, but if you plan your meals based on the weekly specials you'll be ahead. Produce, meat, cheese and deli and seafood counter is quite good. Store is always clean and has an amazing aroma all the time....don't go in hungry. Coffee bar coffee is better than any local coffee shop, including Starbucks. Too many good things to list here.... read more

Love when this supermarket came to this location. It's so fresh, very big, nice seafood section as well as meat. Not my regular one but I do love to pop up here as sometimes it has different options that my Fortinos doesn't have. read more
