Staff was good as usual as they are mainly kids, which is great to see. I am am 3rd in line to pay and a couple brings their groceries to the hot food check out including alcohol to check out. Staff did the right thing to help them, but because of the alcohol the checkout had to be attempted 3 times. The 3 customers including myself waited about 10 minutes to check out with out hot food. Here is where you went wrong. A male manager the entire time was leaning against the condiment area watching, while gabbing away to a friend of his. Watching the disaster at the cash he never once attempted to help. Shame on him for poorly representing Fortino's and setting a very poor example to the staff. While this happens an Asian man cuts into the check out ahead or the 3 people ahead of him, including the elderly man who had difficulty walking. The staff told him that he was not next in line and that others were ahead of him. He said shut up. The manager again did nothing. I spoke up to the asian man to get back in line where he was and do the right thing and to not be so rude. He told me to F off. The manager again witnessed it all and did nothing. I stepped forward and the Asian man pushed me aside continuing with the arrogant attitude. Manager and his buddy continued talking and said nothing. After this I left the dinners on the counter and walked out. So much for fostering positive relations with customers or a safe customer environment .... We will re evaluate our spending relationship effective immediately with this location. Possibly retrain this manager to actually be an active part of the store.

The prices are generally higher than many grocery stores.

She said that she was running a bit late, so it was going to be 2:45 pm. I was good with the later time. The eatery that we had chosen is in the same plaza as this Fortinos. My eyes lit up when I feasted them on this store. It looked amazing from afar. I needed to get some groceries, so I decided to spend some time here before meeting up with my friend. I haven't been to a Fortinos in ages. Markham had one eons ago. Richmond Hill is my closest one these days. I haven't been there, either. I should go more often! I parked in a lot that felt like a lower level. I wasn't imagining things. This Fortinos has an elevator with parking available downstairs, too. Staff members were counting how many people were entering and exiting the store. I grabbed a cart and walked in. I was mesmerized by everything that I saw. I'm sure that if you looked at me, my eyes were wide open with excitement. There were huge meatballs and arancini balls at one stand. You could get a stir fry with noodles at another stand. The pizza slices looked so good! I completely stopped in front of the bakery. The most beautiful artisan breads were staring at me. It was carb love at first sight. Fortinos has never been a discount supermarket. However, the variety and quality are superb. I don't mind shelling out for fancy salad dressing, vine tomatoes, and sugar-free, lactose-free ice cream. I managed to get a package of ice cream sandwiches that were both sugar-free and lactose-free. It was heaven. I felt like I normal human being eating them! I love the beer section. I got a can of low-carb beer from Belgian Moon. Who knew? Staff were so friendly. One of them guided me to an open cashier. The woman was great cashing me out. I had an excellent shopping experience here. I would have spent hours at this store. Thank goodness I had to meet up with my friend. Otherwise, I would have been broke by now. It's huge, have almost everything you can crave. Pizza bar, fried food, espresso bar, the candy aisles! So much candy! The olives bar! Yumm. So many different types. Pane, vino, fruita! Seafood though is a ok. But you can get a lot of great stuff here. Their produce section is great. You can always spot a group of older gentleman arguing in Italian by the cafe/ olives bar. Everyone's yelling in Italian all over. It's an experience! Prices are quite high compared to the states but I was told its normal in Canada! Don't even think about getting flowers. It's insane! Seafood: insane! Fruits and vegetables are so fresh though. Pizzas, cured meat etc are cheaper here than the states. I don't mind their bread either. My family gets all their cakes ordered from here. You can get all things Italian in the bakery. They also have Asian food stall/ bar where you can order food to go. I didn't try it but everything else was great. Love their pizzas! Grab a slice, espresso and you're ready for that one hour grocery store walk with your family. :D

Prices are on the steep side, but they do have some unique items, which reminds me a bit of Aldi in the USA. We picked up some lemon wafer rolls, a few cute cupcakes in individual boxes (perfect to give away), and pumpkin butter. The plaza is very busy with many other stores and restaurants, but there are plenty of parking spots. Service is quite friendly and efficient. I hope they open more locations.

I don't come to Longo's often so I was once again amazed at how neat the rows of produce were! They had a sample station between the bakery and the veggies aisle. They were sampling their festive turkey pie which was actually amazing. It is sort of like a chicken pot pie but is filled with what you'd find at a Thanksgiving dinner, so the turkey, stuffing, and cranberries are all inside and it is balanced beautifully. They were actually sold out of the pies - the last one in the store was the one they were sampling! Other cool stuff that I found at Longo's were apples that were red on the inside. There was one with a yellow exterior and the other was red, but they were both supposed to be red on the inside as well. These went for $2 an apple and they came in a pack of 4. Not cheap but kind of neat. I also saw that they had a 12 days of "Cheesemas" advent type calendar which I'm planning to sample. Again, not cheap at $20 but definitely unique.
