The rooms are first class and clean! The private lake was definitely the highlight! Swimming, kayaking, etc. It is an old granite quarry so it is a very clean clear lake with red granite cliffs rising up on the sides. It is especially beautiful after dark with a campfire on the shore and a full moon shining across the water. The hosts were very accommodating with anything they could do to help.

Yes it's dated, but the rooms are super clean, the bed is comfortable, heat worked perfectly and they had excellent water pressure with good hot water. There's truck parking next door at the truck stop. Multiple food options within walking distance. It's quiet and everything you'd expect of an older mom and pop run motel. Cash is king here and they would rather you pay cash vs a credit card. If you're traveling through, want a reasonably priced place to stay and loathe the dirty 8 as much as I do, this is worth the stop. A little soggy for my taste but perhaps their recommended cooking time is conservative to prevent burnt waffles. Parking is in a large somewhat shared lot with our businesses but no problem finding a space. The hotel location is right next to the interstate and a little noisy but not bothersome.
