This is a nice park that I enjoy going for walks at, and one lap casually walking on the main track…read moreusually takes me about 10 minutes to go all the way around. In the center of the park is a decent sized fishing pond where I have caught many bluegills, although the sign says it is stocked with trout (so you may catch some here and there). There is also a decent sized playground for kids, a public swimming pool (which you can check times and cost online), and I believe some type of paddle boats (you may have to check the hours and such for that) which is the only watercraft allowed on the pond. They appear to cut the grass on Fridays (so allergy sufferers beware). They have plenty of covered picnic areas, trash cans, and bathrooms.. although I don't believe I have seen any doggy stations (I saw one lady the other day who didn't bother to pick up her dogs poop, yuck). They are open from 8am til Dusk.

This is actually the headquarters of the very long C&O Canal park. A large building is…read moreadministrative only. A repurposed warehouse offers a small selection of exhibits. There isn't much to do indoors. No park fee is charged in this area. The point of coming is of course to spend time outdoors. This is one of the areas where the canal is actually carried over a creek by an aqueduct, which is interesting to look at. As this section of the canal actually has water, a pedestrian bridge is necessary to traverse it (or you can drive over a one-lane bridge and park on the scenic side). This section of the canal is quiet, but as with the entire length of the trail, makes for excellent walking.

The path is clean and well maintained stretching for miles with beautiful views on both sides especially during the fall season when the colors make the entire trail look magical. It's a perfect place to clear your mind and enjoy some quiet time. The flat paved surface makes it easy for everyone whether you're an experienced biker or just out for a relaxing walk. I also liked how calm it was, not too crowded which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The sunlight filtering through the trees and the sound of leaves underfoot make this trail feel special. I highly recommend visiting during early morning or late afternoon for the best light and the most peaceful atmosphere. Definitely one of my favorite local spots for some fresh air and beautiful nature.

It's clean and well maintained and wasn't too crowded on a weekday around noon. We parked at Pearre Road and there was plenty of parking. No restroom there, just a port o let so plan accordingly. We walked away from Hancock and there's an awesome overlook about a mile or two away that's a must see if you're in the area. Also impressive to see the rock "walls" they blasted through back in the day to create the railroad. Further down the road, the train combines with the C&O trail for a while, so that part is gravel/dirt rather than pavement so plan accordingly if it's been rainy. This is a must see if you're in the area and I'd come back and check this trail out again

Parking is very busy mid day so come early, they also have a parking area then you can shuttle to the town, so check that out before coming. If you love the story of John Brown then this will bring everything to life. When we came the govt was shut down so I couldn't go to the wax museum :'(. I recommend bringing a picnic basket and eating on the grassy area near the river. You can also make a hike day out of everything and hike up the town past the beautiful Catholic Church at the top, hike back down, go over the bridge, and explore over there. Best place ever.

Numerous kid-friendly facilities, both outdoor but also an indoor nature center were available. There were plenty of live nonhuman animals and some chatty humans inside the nature center, which is now open on weekends. The sights on the outdoor trails were numerous, and tables to eat at were plentiful. All the facilities were clean and new. As a play date for kiddos (not mine), it was very impressive.

I went to Hagerstown City Park when I was visiting a friend in Maryland in April. We went for some…read moreexercise. We walked around the park for about an hour. It was such a pretty walk as all of the trees were in bloom. There were many birds on the lake and critters in the trees. The park has a museum, outside amphitheater and baseball fields at the top of the hill. There is also a nice playground. This is a fun family spot where you can get some exercise and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
