Awesome first time experience at Forsyth Vet Hospital. I called to make an appointment and everyone who I talked to were friendly and professional. I was able to be seen on the same day. The process of the curb side appointments was explained to be very clearly and in detail. Upon arrival I called to notify I was outside. Within minutes a tech came out to ask follow up questions regarding my cat visit. I provided all the meds and supplements that I give my cat and everyone was extremely patient and explained in detail that what I was giving my cat was good. After my cat was seen, Dr William Dawkins explained what he found in my cat. He was very friendly and explained everything. He was not pushy or giving me unnecessary recommendations of what to do with my cat. Dr only stated a few things to keep an eye on, but said not to worry about at this time. He was very patient in answering all my questions. When my cat was brought back out to my car, her medicine was explained in detail on how to administer it and answered all my questions. All in all I was impressed with the level of professionalism and friendliness from all the staff at this hospital. Everything was a simple process and I was in and out. Highly recommend! read more

The entire staff at this hospital are courteous and caring. Dr. Gillis makes us feel like we are the most important clients, and I do not doubt that's how Dr. Gillis treats EVERY client. I feel completely assured in my pets recovery and treatment when I visit Forsyth Vet. Highly recommended. read more

Worst vet experience. Was not informed of the Curbside policy. A tech came out and took my dog inside without my understanding. Then they proceeded to give her the Bordatella vaccine requested but only 1 dose that would need a booster. My dog is 3.5 years old she should only need one dose a year but they had her listed as a 1 year old puppy. There was no Dr. at the office that day so I could not ask any questions. I only found out today 3 months after the visit that my dog is not Up to date on her Bordatella no thanks to Forsyth Vet. Will never be back. Do not recommend. Not to mention their heartworm and flea and tick prevention is cheaper on THEIR online site but they do not mention that at the office. read more

A wonderful, compassionate, very competent veterinary practice. Having recently moved to the area, we did not have a regular local vet, so when our cat became ill we had to bring him to a vet we had never seen before. Dr. Anderson was absolutely wonderful with both my cat and me. She was gentle and patient with a cat who really does not like going to the vet (and who makes his opinions well known). Dr. Anderson helped us though a difficult cancer diagnosis, explaining, supporting, and understanding. Even though we had never met before, she gave me her cell phone number and encouraged me to call her any time (nights and weekends included) if I needed to talk or if I had any questions. She guided me through making treatment decisions for my cat, all the while being incredibly kind, understanding, and reassuring. All of the other staff that I have encountered have been pleasant, friendly, and competent. This is a terrific vet practice, and I would highly recommend Dr. Anderson. read more

I can't believe I wasted so much money and time supporting this vet. I have visited this vet over a dozen times over the last year since I moved here, sometimes it's been an easy experience, but other times it been absolute hell. Today was the worst of those experiences, and I will never be returning to this clinic after the way me and my animals were treated and disregarded. I brought my kitten in for her second vaccine and to have an ear and eye exam done on my five year old dog. My dogs ears have been a continuous issue, and when I've asked this vet for antibiotics to help contain the ear infections, they've given me cleaners and anti-inflammatory medications instead. None of which have worked. Today, after waiting a week for an appointment and getting up early to take both my pets to the vet, the black female vet (I specify because the other veterinarian is much nicer) came out to me and my boyfriends car and was immediately aggressive and telling us that we did not follow directions, which I told her I had and she continued disparaging our treatment and care of my dog. This same vet also gave us a horrible attitude last time we brought my dog for a visit, and I had told her I was willing to do anything she asked of me if she would just speak kindly to us, instead of being aggressive and condescending. Today I was sick of it, and after being berated by her for a minute, and I said "I don't know what the problem is but there always seems to be attitude, we just want to get our pets seen" to which the vet unprofessionally responded by yelling at us (in front of other customers in the parking lot) that we "don't follow directions or understand anything" and that we can "go somewhere else" and that she isn't "taking our abuse." Her last action was to yell "get them their records!" and slam the door to the vet clinic. Absolutely childish, prideful and deplorable behavior from someone who is supposed to be there caring for you and your pet. This is the worst of my experiences here but there's been others that were nearly as upsetting. I was even made to wait six weeks for a test result for my dog before, after being told it would take a week, and even then, I was the one who had to call about it. JUST GO TO ANOTHER VET! It's not worth the convenience and cost of this one, especially if you get stuck with the horribly rude and aggressive vet who clearly needs some mental help before working with people and animals too for that matter. read more

I love this clinic. Doctor Gillis has saved my little cat several times. She has helped me understand what I needed to do for my little girl. Since my cat is diabetic, I have to board her when I am out of town. I have been gone for a month and felt very confident that my cat was ok. The best veterinary hospital in town. read more

I have boarded my 1 yr old puppy here twice - both times she had trouble walking, especially going upstairs or hopping up into the car or the couch afterward. I brought her to a new vet today after this second time - they said nothing major was wrong - no breaks or sprains - just sore muscles probably from being in a too small space and not being exercised. I was surprised that the experience at a vet's boarding would be so poor. Needless to say I won't be taking her back her to board or be seen by their vets. read more

Dr Gillis is a capable vet, but with everyone else there it is amateur hour, to say nothing of insanely high prices. My sister had her dogs ear operated on for a cost of $1,100. She paid half immediately and was then harassed by phone calls demanding the balance less than a week later (and she was a well-liked and steady customer of theirs). Subsequently, a vet closer to where she lives (Dr Kaylor or Arcadia Veterinary Hospital) told her that she does that same operation for $345 (and Dr Kaylor is known to be expensive!). There's more. Forsyth Veterinary Hospital is small. It's simply a small ranch style home that has been converted. The operating room is also small and it appears makeshift. The recovery room is, literally, a closet. Your pet and you can't fit in there at the same time. They also board dogs, and my sisters dog got a nasty case of kennel cough when he was simply there for a visit. read more

I will not be bringing my fur baby back here any longer. Almost every experience I have had at this clinic has been difficult. Upon her very first exam two years ago, the vets noticed that my kitten had an umbilical hernia which needed to be repaired. We made a plan to repair the hernia during her spay. After picking her up from her surgery, she came out of her carrier, attempted to sit on her back haunches and cried out in pain. I looked at her belly and her incision was over half the length of her entire torso (understandable for the procedure that was performed) but as an ICU nurse I was very concerned about her pain level. I called the clinic and asked what kind of pain medication she had received post-operation. They stated that it was generally against protocol to do so but they had "pre-medicated her." Assuming there was a medical reason, I simply asked for some pain medicine to help my girl get through the night- which they prescribed. Furthermore, with each visit, be it for sick visit or well, I was still displeased. During her check-up last September, Eowyn was extremely fractious and defensive (however NOT aggressive). The vet admitted to me that she could not complete a full exam on her since she was so disagreeable, but that she would be charging me for a full exam anyway. When I inquired what options were available to help my cat get through vet visits, the only recommendation she could give was to "find a vet that could make house-calls." When I sought a second opinion from a feline-only vet clinic, there appears to be no medical reason my cat did not receive post-op pain medication and I have received plenty of options to help keep my girl calm at the vet. I would STRONGLY advise to not take your cat to this clinic. read more

Everyone here is extremely friendly, especially Dr. Anderson, who examined our dog and cat, and couldn't have been friendlier or more knowledgable. Just moved to Winston-Salem, and our search for a vet is over. Very kind staff and clean facilities. Good people, the type you want caring for your pets. read more

Forsyth Vet is the best! We love their knowledgeable and friendly staff and doctors. Our dog was involved in a car accident right down the road from the vet, and Dr. Ruth drove over to check him out at the scene, even though the vet was closed. She arrived before the EMT's even got there. They always go the extra mile to make sure your pet is safe and healthy!!! read more

This place has been a nightmare.. the staff is nice but so disorganized!!! I've spent so much money at this place trying to figure out what's wrong with my dog and I still haven't received any solid answers... the poor thing has been thru a bunch of tests and the last one he had, they were supposed to call us with the results and they never did... the weekend went by.. and I called on monday to ask for the results and they said Dr. Gillis would call back that monday and she never did.. this is the second time this has happened! what if it he needed to be seen right away?? he could've died. Sorry but we won't be going back ever. read more

Not impressed. Every single time I am here they have been bringing people who have come to pick up their animals the wrong pet. One woman came in to pick up her bulldog and they brought her out a cat. It's concerning to me that they have no organization in these matters. Makes me worried if my dog needed a surgery they could possibly do the wrong operation because they can't seem to keep track of their patients. Also, I gave them my dogs routine stool sample they said they would call me within 2 days with a result. A week later still no call. When I called to inquire they said they mixed up his sample with some other dogs and weren't sure of the results!! How do things like this happen when the name and account number is clearly labeled? God forbid my poor dog needed bloodwork done and they mix that up! They even had the nerve to try and still charge me for it on the next visit! The rooms are dirty, tons of other pets' hair in balls on the floor, seems like they don't clean and sanitize between patients. Just some observations that left me less than impressed, I will be taking my services elsewhere. read more
