Forsyth Park is really beautiful. A romantic spot to take a loved one to and have a picnic. I used to come here to read in the sun and take pictures. It definitely stands out among many parks I've been to. No words to describe this place other than it's just stunning. read more

Definitely a must see when visiting Savannah, and if you time it right, go when SCAD hosts its annual Sidewalk Arts Festival. Spanish moss hanging from the trees, the fountain, the mansions surrounding the park, the people... you just don't get better! read more

You can't go to Savannah without going to Forsyth Park! This is a beautiful and large park which has lots of places to play catch or lay out in on a warm summer day. It's no Central Park, but it's pretty good for Savannah. Be forewarned though, there are not a lot of places to eat around this park which is really weird, because you would think there would be. The park has a sandwich places inside one of the buildings but it was overpriced and the menu didn't look good unfortunately. read more

A beautiful city park. We strolled around on a Sunday morning while they were setting up for the Savannah Food and Wine Festival. It was so sweet to see people of all ages enjoying the park. Tourists were walking around taking pictures of the fountain (like us), riding bikes, walking their dogs, jogging, and kids were playing on the playground. There were even people doing an exercise class on the grass. There is plenty of open space for events or have a friendly game of flag football with friends. Definitely visit the park when you're in Savannah. read more

The park is beautiful and full of rich history- a must do if you are visiting Savannah!!!!

Great park, very beautiful and a scenic view. The walking paths are gorgeous and in great shape. The monument in the center of the park for the confederate soldiers was an epic sight to see, other than rioters defacing the monument in the back. Was pretty up setting too see such hate aimed at or historical sights. But if your in savanna, this is a place you should put on your list of sights to see while your here! Parking is a pain to find but it's out there. read more

Quaint little park that felt like a trip back in time, except for the coffee shop in the middle. The bathrooms here are top notch! read more

As far as urban parks go, Forsyth is ideal. With it's large open lawns, perfect for sunbathing, and oak-lined walkways dripping with Spanish moss and complete with plentiful park benches for times to sit and relax, this open space immediately makes one want to stay and soak in a bit of nature, all while surrounded by postcard perfect urban setting. Aside for the large open grounds, there is a band shell meant for hosting outdoor music events and a couple of small forts which house a garden, a cafe and restrooms. You can stop to contemplate the looming confederate memorial and all the lives lost in the Civil War in the center of the park. Or, better still, walk to the north end of things and check out the large fountain, complete with 2 tiers of water in motion and spurting fish rising from the lower pool. It's very reminiscent of older European cities which featured a green space with eye-catching public art right in the the very center of things. The history of this park and the test of time it has stood make it worth the visit alone; but it's natural attractiveness will make you want to sit and stay awhile. A quiet, green oasis in an otherwise urban landscape still works its magic, no matter the times. This park gets it. read more

Love taking my little here! She loves the fountain and the playground and I love that its a safe place to take her that she enjoys. The park is always clean and full of people, but never overly full because the park is huge. There is usually something going on from drum circles to the Farmers Market. There is plenty of room to sunbathe, have a picnic, let the kids run around, play fetch with the dog. There are clean bathrooms (inside the visitors center), drinking fountains, 2 playgrounds, an amphitheater, the famous fountain, a couple war memorials, and a few other things. I always feel safe in this park and have never been bother other than a bum asking for money but thats only happened once when my husband was with me. read more

I absolutely loved this place. Beautiful surrounding area as well, which made parking slightly far surprisingly great. The fountain is stunning and made for a great view for our hot chocolate time. The nature in the park was also spectacular. Definitely something you cannot miss! read more

Forsyth Park - The savannah signature fountain - Parks Near Me - Savannah, Georgia

A beautiful park in Savannah with its infamous historical fountain. It's a short walk from the ferries off the Savannah river- makes for a beautiful running route too. The park isn't super large but the large trees provide a great shaded trail to keep that blazing sun away. I went during the state down syndrome buddy walk and it was absolutely beautiful- the park was lined with professional pictures of kids with down syndrome; there were large inflatables; golf carts that pulled children in little go-cart-like cars around the empty field; music; and more. There were lots of families walking around in their buddy shirts; the Saturday farmers market was also there; the fields were packed with students playing soccer and ultimate frisbee. A great vibe and ambiance all around. You are also surrounded by historical boutique hotels and beautiful houses that make for a beautiful walk. read more

This is such a beautiful park with dripping Spanish moss trees (my first time seeing these types of trees!). I love the magnificent view from a distance, of these trees on parallel sides, leading straight towards a fountain in the center. The view really makes for a breathtaking photo. I actually had an initial impression that this park was quite large, but it turned out to be much smaller than I thought. We walked around this park and snapped photos for about 30 minutes or so. For those on a time constraint, Forsyth Park can easily be made into a quick stop. For those with more time, it could also be made into a leisurely activity. For those who want to sit and read or rest, there are benches on parallel sides, in front of the trees. I saw many people sitting on these benches. One elderly lady sitting on the bench, in particular, called out to us "good morning!", which was welcoming, as this was our very first stop in Savannah. read more

Took my first trip to Savannah, and made it around all the squares and finally into Forsyth Park. It is a dreamy little park, with tennis courts, jogging, fountain, and it's own arboretum. The spanish moss hanging on the trees makes this the epitome of the beautiful south. Didn't spend as much time there as I'd like but enjoyed seeing runners, walkers with dogs, little old ladies snacking by the fountain. Definitely a must see in Savannah. Reminded me a bit of Wash Park in Denver, the big park in the old part of town where everyone frequents. read more

I just love this park. Perfect for a walk, run or stroll. Sit in the grass and have a picnic. They usually have some kind of event going on with live music or movies. The moss covered trees and the homes that surround the park are beautiful. read more

Beautiful, movie esque park. The fountain is the focal point of the several acre green park with swaying sleepy trees. Though there were many people being active through out the park (soccer, volleyball, having picnics, tourists) the park still remained to be serene and peaceful. A man was playing jazz on a trumpet and it echoed through out the park, creating a perfect place for a morning stroll with a coffee in hand. read more

Stunning absolutely stunning with all that Spanish moss and the vibe. Will definitely come back

You're no Central Park - more Robert Moses inspired but I will let it slide a bit. There always seems to be something going on in this park and I like that. It is clean and it is always nice to find a bit of green sanctuary in any city. read more

This park is beautifully simple. Sprawling thick grass on either side of the romantically lit center walkway, leaves endless possibilities. I would love to catch a symphony on the stage behind the splash pool. (or play one there myself ;) we even felt pretty safe walking our dogs at night. I would like to add an additional review here, since there is no seperate page: 17 W Park Ave This gorgeous historic home is actually a set of short term lease apartment rentals. Diana was very curteous in allowing our big puppies! And the location couldnt have been better for our vacation! read more

This is a great place to visit in Savannah. If you are on River Street, it's only about a two mile walk down to get to it. You can enjoy the scenerey along the way. It's a great place for photo opportunities (we saw several people posing for prom pictures), good for putting up hammocks, playing games in the park or just having a picnic. The best thing we enjoyed was people watching :) I love this park, and I plan on returning. It's a great historic part of Savannah. read more

Great small city park. Well maintained with beautiful trees & invigorating fountain. There are quiet areas to relax. However, if you want to pursue more vigorous pursuits you can find an activity on the sports courts, run, or bike. You can drink & snack @ an inviting cafe in the park while watching the park life go by. It is small in size. So don't be thinking in terms of Golden Gate Park, Balboa Park or Central Park. read more

Perfect place for the kids to run around and get their energy out during our drive from the Carolinas to Florida. It's a smaller southern version of New York's Central Park. There's even a cage with Starbucks and a handful of tap beers. Well covered canopy for the hot summer months. read more

Prettiest park in savannah! This makes me want to move here immediately! With the pretty Spanish moss trees lining the walk way, the beautiful fountain, numerous play grounds for kids and nice big open fields to play sports or with your dog. I also heard it rumored there are tennis courts in the back, we just didn't make it that far in! Definitely worth the visit! read more

A beautiful park, with a beautiful fountain, history, and location. It's mostly shaded by the trees. The park is huge and unlike most parks in Savannah, this one isn't a square, but has plenty of space for sports, playgrounds, picnic, and people are friendly for the most part. Pets are welcome and the park is usually active until nightfall. What I don't like and don't have to deal with at my usual local park is all the hood, ghetto people hollering at you or asking you for bus money (grown pathetic men asking kids). A problem that you also find at most of the squares there, hobos or hood people. Also don't like how shaded it is or the type of trees they have because it feels like Savannah has too much of the same. read more

Great park for running, playing with the dog, or just enjoying being outdoors. Beautiful scenery inside and outside of the park.

Was here on Sunday, January 18, 2015 An absolutely gorgeous park where kids and dogs are running around, people are having picnics on the grass, and people are just being happy. It was the perfect place to lie in the sun and think about how great Savannah was before hopping on the plane home. Highly recommended! read more

Large, well maintained park, with plenty of room for a child to run and play. There was no shortage for runners taking in the good weather on my visit and I even recall seeing some young bicycle riders. There was an enclosed playground for the little ones who may get a bit too excited while exploring the swings, slides, see-saws, etc. There was a nice place to by snacks or a quick meal in the park. That kiosk included restrooms and was air conditioned (greatly appreciated on a hot summer day). The only drawback may be the limited parking, though I didn't have trouble finding a space and it is in the middle of the city. read more
