Surrounded by mansions. Tons of space for physical activity -- football, frisbee and the like. Filled with runners and bikers. Gorgeous trees and walkways. THE Fountain. There's always something going on in Forsyth. I LOVE a park that gets used! AND manages to stay clean! Yesterday there was a Farmer's Market and 5/10k race. Today there was some other kind of festival with tents going up everywhere. There are tennis courts, a concert stage, monuments. This is a BEAUTIFUL space. What's not to love? read more

Beautiful park, and NOT as far a walk from the River St./City Market area as it might seem at first. Maybe 15 min? And depending which street you walk down, you will probably pass a number of parks/squares and stores along the way. I suggest bringing a football or a frisbee or something to make good use of the open field space. But if nothing else, it's lovely to stroll around, sit on a bench and watch other people, or swing on the playground like a kid again! read more

Stop 5 in our trolley tour, we enjoyed the air conditioned visitors center with reasonably priced lunch choices in their cafe. This park is large and full of history and interesting things to look at. There is even a splash park for the kids. The cafe is a nice touch. The food was decent, though not exceptional, but after a week of spending too much money on food, it was nice to get a meal that wasn't above $25 total for three people. The bathrooms in this visitor center were also very clean and there were some couches for resting. I can't believe the city would fund such a nice visitor center. read more

Beautiful park in Savannah with so much going on! Whether it is a relaxing day in the park, a music festival, volleyball game or the Saturday farmers market Forsyth park is always amazing! For runners it is great with the border around it being 1 mile! You'll see people with hammocks in between the trees and tons of dogs playing. This park gives off such a good vibe from a tourist and a local's point of view. Savannah is very fortunate to have this park and they should continue monitoring it so crime stays away! read more

A breathtaking park that has a variety to offer. Located in the center of the old time Savannah squares. It is a great place to bring a picnic, a ball to toss around, a cup of coffee or just a simple good book. All types of people and dogs are all around. A million little shops and coffee places on the outskirts of the park! Hello Savannah! Spanish moss covers the side walks and makes it a place that seems magical! read more

So beautiful, the fountain lights up at night and it's a little magical. During the day people from all places come and gather around it, either to take pictures or to read about it. There are every now and then a few weddings and other special occasions held right in front of the fountain. If you keep walking there is art painted all over the sidewalks. They hold events here all the time. If you want coffee they do have a little coffee place called the coffee bean right around the corner. And you'll stumble upon a few other shops if you head towards river street. Which is just a few blocks away. If you're in the area you must check it out. You can not leave Savannah without visiting the famous park! read more

The park looked very nice, its pretty large. It seemed like there were a few places to sit and looks like a nice place to lay out a blanket and enjoy. There is also a small visitor's center on the property that contains a cafe, some history, and restrooms as well. The cafe has a nice variety of snacks. Unfortunately, it was raining heavily during our visit so we did not get to enjoy the park for a long period of time. I do look forward to enjoying it on my next visit to the city. read more

Beautiful and Historical The symphony here is the fountain, its exquisite. This park was developed here in the 1840s and it leads to the historical district of Savannah. There is also a Confederate memorial which is an awesome site to take some picture taking. There is a visitor center here that provides you a map or illustration of the vicinity. Walking paths here can lead you to some gardens, also you get that eerie feel along the with the beauty and history of Forsyth Park, being of course this location is one of the oldest district in our country. Bring out those SLR cameras folks its eye candy and romance here in Savannah. read more

This is exactly what I wanted Savannah to be. Twain meets Steinbeck in the great American memory. Rarely, in this country, does a place feel old. Europe can do it, Asia can do it, but American cities haven't had the time to imbue a place with generations of memories. And on the occasions when a meaningful old place is created, it is usually torn down and replaced with something shiny. But this place feels like an exception. The trees are old, the moss is old, the buildings all around it are old, and the passing cars seem out of place. If its history wasn't so obviously American, you could mistake it for Rome. read more

I passed by Savannah on the way to Florida during late March and I'm really glad I stopped by this park. It's easily the most beautiful park I've ever seen and I used to live in NYC. Central Park may be big, but doesn't compare. The surrounding area is lovely as well, after going around the park, we walked around the neighborhood to see the houses and I felt like I was in an old movie. The park itself had a magical vibe and reminded me of the Secret Garden. I was even contemplating staying in Georgia for a moment! read more

What a huge wonderful park. WE were lucky enough for it to be a day of SCAD art contest on the sidewalks so hundreds of folks were doing art using only chalk and it was amazing. They had body painting that happened as well and that is always cool. So the event was 5 stars but this location was super well suited for it. Lots of parking which was desperately needed on nearby streets. Lot of things to look at and plenty to do like small eateries all over. Today also was the day of the Farmer's Market which was exceptional with all sorts of local food and wares. Just a wonderful time spent in this beautiful park! read more

A beautiful park that forms the focal point of the old town. Perfect place for taking a walk, run, or early morning dog walk. Great energy here in the morning as all the locals come out to run. The tree lined path is lovely year round and makes for a great walk. read more

Forsyth Park - Parks Near Me - Savannah, Georgia

An absolutely gorgeous park and a must-see for anyone visiting Savannah. We parked nearby and walked along some absolutely gorgeous streets with beautiful homes. When we arrived, there was a market taking place and what appears to be some type of running club. We walked through, taking many pictures of the different monuments and just the park overall. We arrived at the fountain early and were blessed with a pretty empty square. We were able to take plenty of pictures and just take it all in. Forsyth Park appeared to be the place to walk your dog, take your kids out for a jog, or just read a book on a park bench. I could have spent quite a bit of time here but we had other plans. read more

Nice big park to walk through. Not sure, however, how I feel about the monuments that pay homage to the confederacy. read more

This is a beautiful park. I am so glad we found it when we were visiting Savannah. The city park in New Orleans has always been my favorite park but Forsyth Park might just take over the number one spot. The lawns are gorgeous, the azaleas were in full bloom, there were people picnicing, playing croquet and frisbee, dogs rolling in the grass, people reading, napping.....this is the perfect place to while away a lazy afternoon. If you haven't been, go by and check it out. Just don't plan to do it quickly, sit down and rest a spell while you're here. read more

Picturesque-scenery at its finest. Forsyth Park in Savannah has got to be one of the most relaxing places on Earth. The landscape is gorgeous. Full greenery, large trees, and beautiful water sculpture displays makes this park a family favorite and a tourist must. It's also impossible to miss. You're also likely to see people running at all hours of the day and night throughout the park. I plan on crossing that off my list next time I visit. I strongly recommend staying at one of the bed and breakfasts that overlook the park. I wish I could wake up every morning to this beautiful view. read more

Very lively, active park. In a single Sunday afternoon, I witnessed basketball, soccer, ultimate frisbee, lacrosse, dog-walkers, SCAD students doing photography homework... Plenty of people watching potential. The park spans several blocks, with enough of space for quiet contemplation apart from the action. The fountain in the center dates back to 1858, with significant renovation. Like any other area of Savannah, you will trip over historical markers without even trying. read more

Within biking and walking distance of my old dorm house, I was a frequenter of Forsythe Park. Always a big stop for, tourists, locals, and SCAD students, this park was positively packed on nice days. Fortunately, the park is fairly large and even if there were a lot of people it was possible to find a spot on a park bench or a secluded spot under the trees. Surrounded mostly by residential homes it definitely has that quaint southern feel to it, basically it "has Savannah written all over it." There always seemed to be events going on here too like runs and sidewalk chalk festivals, making it a meeting ground for all people. The park is absolutely beautiful with the obvious highlight being the fountain (actually purchased from a Sears catalogue way back when.) read more

A mothers dream park. Beautiful, fenced in, huge and shaded playground area. There are actually two playground, we only checked out the big green one. If that isn't enough to make you love it there is Starbucks, a cafe and clean bathrooms just feet away. Also one of the most beautiful parks you will find! read more

When we went to Savannah for a vacation trip, the first thing on my list was just to get to walk around town and see all the historic areas. We kind of stumbled upon Forsyth Park on our walk and this place was just beautiful! The weather really worked out in our favor and I could have hung out there all day. There are lots of beautiful fountains and large open areas. There seemed to be local vendors set up on one side as we were walking up so that was neat to get to check out. Definitely a place to check out if you're in Savannah! read more

Forsyth Park is a must do when in Savannah, I was concerned about the pan handlers as stated by previous review but during our visit in March 2016 we did not see any. The Forsyth park is a beautiful park adorned with oaks and dripping Spanish moth. On Saturday I enjoyed the Saturday market, even though I found it pretty expensive but the quality of goods were above standards. It is quite an experience. It is pet friendly and you can find musicians and artist along the way. If you have time make sure to explore the "Victorian Historic" part of the city between E Gwinnett and E Anderson, the architecture is totally different that other part of Savannah. read more

This is a very beautiful and history laden park located in Savannah. One of the places I was looking forward to seeing when I took my trip down there. The fountain was absolutely beautiful and seems to be the keystone of the park. Lots of art students from SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) drawing and painting in the park. Also discovered that there is a memorial statue that honors the civil war that looks faces North to keep an eye on the Yankees. It turns out that it has a companion status located in New York that faces South. Interesting tidbit since I am from New York. read more

Our most beautiful asset in our fabulous city. A must see any time of the year but at it's best in the Spring.

Absolutely beautiful park right in the historic district of Savannah flanked by historic homes. I love walking around the park with my dogs and taking pictures of the big oaks with their spanish moss blowing in the wind. Makes me want to be there now just thinking about it. I'll be back! read more

In the middle of Savannah's Historic District, we enjoyed a walk through Forsyth Park, a great city park with a centerpiece fountain, an area for concerts, a playground, sports courts, gardens and walking paths. Live oaks dominate the park (and Savannah in general), draped with Spanish Moss, creating an almost Gothic, mysterious feel. (This air plant, by the way, is neither Spanish nor moss. It's actually a relative of the pineapple!) The park also has a Fragrant Garden, originally designed for the blind to enjoy. I appreciate urban greenspaces in many forms, but Forsyth Park is really something special. We had a great experience watching families, couples and singles strolling, playing frisbee, walking dogs and generally enjoying this charming city oasis. read more

What a beautiful location for my Leap Day wedding! We coordinated with Gazebo Weddings of Savannah to have the ceremony in front of the Forsyth Park Fountain, and it couldn't have been better. It was like a fantasy dream wedding come true. The azaleas were already in bloom, making the perfect backdrop for many of our photos. I highly recommend visiting the park, as well as the fountain, even if you're not looking for a wedding venue. One thing to keep in mind if you are visiting from out of town is that the humidity in Savannah seems to be there year round...even at the end of February. I'm not saying that to deter you from using the venue, but keep in mind if you're not accustomed to the heat and humidity. read more

I literally waited YEARS to visit Savannah. I remember the very first photo I saw of this beautiful city just so happened to be of Forsyth Park. Whenever my husband suggested we finally vacation to my dream city, I KNEW I had to stop at the place that made me fall in love with the city in the first place. I must say, pictures do not do it justice. It is an amazing and vibrant place. The fountain, trees, and Spanish moss are the things of fairy tales. The live music playing in the background, people laying in the lush grass reading books and drawing, and the stately homes sitting along the perimeter add even more magic to this park. Its a great place to just spend the afternoon. I can not wait to go back. read more

Tons of space, great playgrounds, good cafe food. We love this park. I want to take it with me when we have to move. There is so much history. That coupled with all the space for my little crawler to roam makes this the ideal location for me. The cafe on site is nice. I like it being there and I love that it serves wine. Because who doesn't want to get drunk with their kid in the park? I kid... There are plenty of fountains and statues to games at and if that's not your thing there is usually a game of some sort going on in the grassy areas. Last time some were playing soccer. That's probably the only downside I have seen to the park. People playing games with flying balls should be confined to one area as not to harm other pedestrians. There is a nice gazebo that I usually see dance lessons being given in. I once saw a wedding. Gorgeous area! read more

One of the best things about Savannah... Free events here are great and well- attended. Great spot to read, tan, walk your dog... Two great playgrounds, a garden for the blind, and a historic training fort is getting a makeover and will soon be reopened as a visitors center with a cafe and a band shell. Just be careful here after dark. read more

Absolutely gorgeous. This is where you go to take those Instagram-worthy snaps of those gorgeous Spanish-moss covered trees. The fountain in the middle is really lovely (and my older daughter was quite bummed she couldn't just jump on in!). This park is gorgeous. It is a great place to wander, people watch and just enjoy. The tree lined pathways are perfect for a dusk stroll when the street lamps are just coming on. This park is absolutely beautiful and it seems as if there is always something going on. I went there today (Saturday) for the farmers' market. There was tons of fresh produce and meats, cheeses, eggs, etc. I thought the items were a little on the pricier side; however, you get what you pay for and this stuff was nice. The vendors take cash or you can use your debit card to buy tokens which is awesome. The homes on the park are amazing. It is excellent scenery for whatever outdoor activity you'd like to do.
