Writing those words fills me with gratitude, excitement, and a deep awareness that a chapter that has shaped much of my life is coming to an end. As I take this meaningful step forward, the kindness of those who helped guide me has made all the difference. We sometimes hear criticism of Social Security, but my experience with the Gwinnett County office deserves to be celebrated. In particular, I want to recognize Trina Gross and Mr. Evans, the manager, for the care they have shown me during this important transition. Trina, thank you for walking me through this process with such patience and kindness. You explained things in everyday language that I could understand, helping me feel comfortable and informed along the way. What felt overwhelming became manageable because you took the time to help me understand. You gave me something precious as I prepare for retirement: peace of mind. Mr. Evans, your thoughtfulness and caring have meant so much. Thank you for making me feel that my questions mattered and that this milestone in my life mattered, too. The compassion I experienced in your office is something I will remember long after the paperwork is complete. Behind every retirement application is a person who has spent years showing up, working hard, and preparing for a future they are finally about to step into. This time, that person is me. And because of the kindness you both extended, I am stepping into that future feeling reassured, supported, and excited about what comes next. After 38 1/2 years, I am closing one chapter and opening another. I will always remember the people who helped me begin my career--and now, I will carry with me the memory of the people who helped me step into retirement with confidence and peace. Trina and Mr. Evans, thank you for becoming part of this important moment in my story. Your work may be part of your daily routine, but your kindness has left a lasting mark on my life. As I begin this new chapter, I will remember not only the years I worked, but also the compassion that helped me move forward.
