Good quality work and value. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About the on-sight crew: I recommend better oversight of a handful of their crew. Some of their crew decided to take a day off and go to a ball game which delayed/impacted the critical part of treating the hot surface while asphalt was still hot. Didn't finish it that day, and when it was finished it's result is not the same as if it was treated while asphalt was hot. A careless crew member left permanent boot marks on treated surface. All could have been avoided with better oversight/training of crew. I don't fault the company since good help is so hard to find these days. I still give them 5 starts.

Hard workers, they got the job done in four days. I have used other paver companies in the past so I knew what I was looking for. Their pricing was very straightforward, with no surprises and extremely reasonable. Kim and David have great ideas and know what they're doing. We had quite a few areas of yard that were overgrown with weeds - they needed to be cleaned up and replaced with weed barrier and mulch. Then we had a large area in the backyard that needed pavers where we will be installing a cedar shed. You can see from the Before and After pictures what a transformation it has been! Highly recommend Modern Paving with Kim and David. Did I mention that they got the job done in four days? My friends and family were all amazed at how quickly the transformation occurred and how nice it looks now!

Caveat: We are still working on my front yard landscaping project but I am confident that I can…read moretrust Solomon to come through for me. So how can I rate Solomon's company before completion? Because he has promised me 100% satisfaction guaranteed and is fulfilling that promise as he continues to return to my job based on my concerns. Here is the scoop: Solomon thought of and installed a truly unique design that used minimal artificial grass narrowly spaced between irregular pavers to match our current driveway and sidewalk. This was such a great way to bring green yet look NATURAL. A master gardener friend of mine just asked me today, "is that real grass?" because it looked so natural. A++ Solomon! AND his crew is so nice and focused. They adjusted everything to be just right which was really tough with needing to cut the grass turf to fit the irregular pavers! On the other side of the sidewalk, Solomon also created a lovely design. We did not want a bunch of artificial grass. We wanted a drought tolerant landscape with drips to the plantings. He suggested a rock "river" and after assuring me it would not look like a Japanese manicured stream and would not be too long and overbearing, I agreed. I really love it. Photos to follow after I take them. As one of the other reviewers mentioned, we did have a few communication lags around the project timing. But whereas my husband was worried about the timing, I did not mind so much as I really trusted (AND TRUST) Solomon's word even if I needed to remind him a few times just to let me know when more progress was expected. One issue we have run into is the invasion of Bermuda grass in the new planting area. They probably should have solarized the soil before planting so ask about this if dealing with soil that is possibly contaminated with aggressive weeds. Bermuda Grass is almost impossible to eradicate. That said, Solomon is partnering me on a solution. He has already sent his team out twice to pull and spray at my request. We are about to get even more aggressive in finding a longer lasting solution so he doesn't have to keep sending his crew out every month. Anyone who knows Bermuda Grass gets it, right? ugh! I will keep you posted and update this review as Solomon and I work together over the next 2 months. (if you have a Bermuda Grass problem, the best time to eradicate it is in the summer. I can send you my plan if you message me here.) I am so satisfied with Solomon's work, crew and personality that I am going to host an "Open Yard" so people can stop by and ask him questions. Stay tuned!

Daniel grew up in the bay and worked with his dad in landscaping since he was young. We admire his passion and his dream to open up his own landscape company to continue that legacy and dismantle the bad rep that contractors/landscapers have. Trust me, we've been burned by previous contractors who left the job unfinished with poor craftmanship. We expressed our concerns to Daniel and he assured us that his team of 4 will be with us from beginning to end. Also, Daniel ensured that we can reach out to him anytime and he'll get back to us. He kept his promise and delivered on that! He responds to all our texts and his crew showed up to our home early EVERYDAY for a week. Our backyard project took no more than 7 days to complete - just as promised! During the design phase, Daniel and his designer Carlos would meet with us in the evenings to go over our design requirements and wants. Along the way Daniel gave ideas/recommendations, which worked out for us. Daniel even went with us to the nursery to pick out the plants. I saw his ambition to grow his business and build good rapport with his clients. That means a lot to us! Overall our pavers, retaining wall, lawn, rocks, and more turned out amazing.
