This place has always surprised me. Not because it is where it is, but it always seems to have something unusual you might not think you'd find way out on the western edge of the Olympic Peninsula. Whether it be something from the grocery side of the house or something from the clothing section or a tool you might need while visiting the area or living there, Forks Outfitters always rises to the occasion. For instance, I had found this marvelous specialty beer back east on Long Island and could not find it in many places I tried across the country. A trip to Forks Outfitters and there it was...in plentiful stock. SCORE! Or even the remarkable hat with a message that fit my father's view of his life at the time. Dad has gone, but the hat survives and even has Forks, Wa written on the back. Bottom line, I know if I'm going to be in Forks for any period of time, my shopping will not suffer too much because Forks Outfitters is there to carry the heavy load.

Impressive selection at the coffee shop, Outfitters Grind.

They sell everything here, and there's even a full coffee shop inside called Outfitters Grind! Definitely a convenient, comprehensive stop for travelers and tourists. This place has you covered if you need maps. The normal paper maps are bordering absurd in price, but for the same price, they had a nice book with maps of all 50 states and National Park info so I got that instead. Overall it really helped us out since the visit information center wasn't open. I was delighted to find a full coffee shop hiding in there! It's bursting with drink menu options and packaged goodies, and they offer several alternative (non-dairy) milks. The workers were super nice about answering questions and providing suggestions. They'll make custom drinks that aren't on the menu if you're dodging food sensitivities and playing to your cravings. I got a very nice off-menu oat milk latte that was very pleasant. The espresso is not bitter at all and they really know how to proportion with cinnamon for strong flavor without going overboard.

Kind of like a treasure hunt. So I went to this store the other day and the employees were extremely friendly and engaging. I got exactly what I wanted without knowing what I was going to get in the first place. In fact it was the employees demeanor and attitude that led to me making a purchase. Some hardware stores aren't very friendly to out of state visitors so this was a welcome change. One of them was also wearing a cool Hawaiian shirt. Really sealed the deal there.

I spend a decent amount of time in hardware stores for work and hobbies, this one has more than just all the stuff I need. They have one of the nicest antique tool, hardware, sign and useful stuff collections I have seen. The service to me has always been good and at times it is amazing. The knowledge of the owner and staff of their products and practical application is broad, I regularly come in with repair and maintenance problems which they will gladly suggest working solutions to, and/or reference to someone that can help. They research items for me on a regular basis, have surprised me by stocking items based on my inquiries and process special orders easily as part of the daily routine. I also like that the owner works in the store and there has been zero turnover in staff in the two years I have been shopping here, try finding that at Home Despot. On top of all that they generously give to the community, by donating material, time and expertise to volunteer projects that improve the quality of life for the citizens of Forks and all of our seasonal visitors. I highly recommend stopping in, even if you don't need a new thingamajig for your whatsit, as far as hardware stores go this one is cool!

This store is a life saver!…read more We are contractors and had a job on Orcas Island. We had never been to Orcas before and were unfamiliar with the area. Before we set out for the island, I looked up local hardware stores (just in case). I found Island Hardware & Supply, called them to make sure they would have what we MIGHT need, hopped in the truck and got on the ferry. OF COURSE it turned out that we DID need some items, so we set off for the Hardware store. We got lost and ended up at the little hardware store in East Sound - we thought we were at the right store, but they didn't have any of the supplies we needed. We were pretty confused until I found out from a local resident that the little hardware store in East Sound is on North Beach Road, and the big hardware store (Island Hardware) is on West Beach Road. So we hopped back in the truck again, and set out to find Island Hardware. (yes, we got losat again...but eventually figured it out) We were so relieved when we located the store and were able to purchase the supplies we needed, because we were thinking that we would have to get on the ferry and drive to the home depot in Mt Vernon (that would have taken forever). Island Hardware had all the stuff we wanted, lumber, tools, big bolts, lag screws, plumbing supplies etc. They even have a couple of little gas pumps which was handy for us. We had the occassion to go back up to Orcas for round two of the job which was exterior painting. The paint we purchased needed to be re-tinted at the last minute. We remembered that Island Hardware had a paint department and took the buckets of paint to them with our fingers crossed. Even though we didn't buy the paint from them, they happily re-tinted it for us...I thought that was pretty generous and excellent customer service!

We just moved to Shelton, are home owners & would prefer to support this local business, however the unyeilding insisting (bordering on harassment) that a customer MUST accept a bag is very unappealing. I, as your customer, have a right to refuse a bag, regardless of your paranoia over shoplifting. Please don't require your employees to insist on this, it makes them come off as pushy & leaves a negative tone at the end of a transaction. So much so that I was distracted enough at having to defend myself that I forgot to pick up my bag of potting soil on my way out & now I really don't even want to go back for it!

I know most employees there are great people though last couple years saw a couple have appeared as if they would rather not be there and I suppose it 'cause of p.o.s. owner. A couple years ago a lousy attitude employee gal took my order to mix a five gallon bucket of paint and sold me the wrong product and I went back to speak with owner (wish I recalled his name) to resolve issue and waited ten minutes for him to appear though he never did- just remained in his office upstairs so I'm out $200.00. Because of him and the dwindling customer service I so much enjoyed at every other Ace Hdwr. I steer clear of this one whenever I can. My apologies to the staff as most are stellar though it seems they deserve more consideration from owners. I prefer to support local business' though this guy takes the fun out of it.
