    Little bakery section

Oh my goddd. This place is what dreams are made of. We were visiting family and stopped here to pick up lunch. They were jam packed with people and well deserved. The options they have were unbelievable, a deli section, pre made food, bakery, basically a whole restaurant behind the counter. We ordered off their online menu but they have so much more - I remember walking in and seeing a crab spaghetti special! Their sandwiches are amazing, huge and jam packed with fresh ingredients. Everything in the deli window looked fabulous, meatballs, sausage and peppers, chicken dishes. Anything you can think of, I'm sure they can whip up. I got the chicken cutlet sandwich and it was huge, enough for two meals. Everyone else got reubens and cheesesteaks and they loved them as well. Huge portions. This place is an absolute must try when in the area, even worth the drive down for!

German Butcher is supposed to be the best place in town to get quality meats, heat-and-eat foods, fresh breads, and desserts. The employees are nice, and the place is super busy. But I tried their famous Reuben sandwich and the Chicken sandwich (added lettuce and extra tomato to both) and was underwhelmed for both lunches. Don't get me wrong--both sandwiches were really large, probably quality ingredients, but they both lacked flavor. For the Reuben, the meat was kind of dry and not tasty. The thousand island dressing was also really watery. Honestly, the best part of this sandwich was the tomato slices and rye bread. The side of fries was good too. For the chicken sandwich, the poppyseed bun was dry, hollow, and bland. The mustard was extremely overpowering (that was definitely normal mustard and not a nice honey mustard!). I don't know why they decided to put shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes instead of normal. I also got a small container of macaroni salad because I love macaroni salad. I didn't like theirs, it was too wet, and the mayonnaise tasted sour. I also got the marshmallow cloud cookie dough cake (hated the flavor of this and the cake texture) and the flourless chocolate (too dense that it was dry instead of creamy).

I've been to the German Butcher twice since I moved down here. I was to their previous location (D.A. Barsch) in Toms River years ago. My favorite style of hot dog is the German style pork/beef or pork/beef/veal mix. Especially if it's made at a butcher/pork store. The dog here is one of the best, along with other favorites like Pulaski, Kocher's (now labeled Leidy's), Swiss Pork Store, and Union Pork Store. What sets the German Butcher apart from the others is that you can get their hot dogs and other offerings to eat there. Nothing like having something made on location and served fresh. Today was the first time ordering their hot dog to eat here. All I can say is Wow! You can't beat having a quality hot dog that was made hours to a few days ago and served on premise. Nothing fresher. The dogs sold to go come in a few different sizes and casings. I got a few natural casing to bring home along with their bratwurst. But the one served here is the one pictured. A quarter pound at least and maybe more. Prepared on a griddle. Comes with chips or fries and a pickle. The dog itself was skinless but had a thin outer layer that was like a casing. It was served on a fresh bun baked right there at their bakery. Perfect for this dog. Topped with spicy mustard. The frank itself was hot, tender, juicy, and flavorful. Top notch for sure.

Felt like having steak for dinner. Picked up some filet mignon. A bit pricey @ $30.99/lb. It was soooooo good, Best filet I ever had.

I've been shopping there every Saturday for the last 29 years. Never been to a butcher that can compare to this place

This place is deli on steroids. It has it all from an upscale deli to an in house bakery. The lunch specials were amazing.

Absolute best place to buy meat when you need quality. If you don't see it, ask. Their baked goods, salads and deli are amazing too.

I discovered this butcher/deli about a year ago and instantly fell in love. Anytime I can, I choose…read morethem over the grocery store, which makes writing this review really disappointing. Two days ago, I bought thinly sliced chicken breasts and my go-to favorite, their red skin potato salad. I eat that potato salad almost every time I go in, so I was excited to dig in. But the second I took a bite, I knew something was off, it literally fizzed on my tongue. Then I opened the chicken, and it reeked so badly it stunk up my whole kitchen. I'm not the type to complain, but this felt serious. So I called them, explained what happened, and was told to come in. I went in with zero attitude, polite, calm, and not accusatory at all, just hoping to let them know and have it made right. That's where things went downhill. The entire interaction made me feel like I was being gaslit. I work in customer service myself, and even if you don't agree with a customer, you validate their concern and work toward a solution. Instead, the woman, Michelle, sniffed both items, claimed she smelled nothing, and flatly said, "What do you want me to do, you want your money back?" The tone was dismissive and rude. If it were me, I would've said something like, "I'm sorry these don't seem right to you, let me grab you fresh ones." That's how you keep a customer. Instead, she said she'd replace the potato salad and then sent me home with the exact same one. I even agreed to take back the same package of chicken. The kicker? She probably didn't realize I had sprinkled flaky salt on the potato salad before I tasted it the first time, and that same salt was still sitting on top when I got it back home. I left feeling embarrassed and unwelcome, like I should never show my face there again. And honestly, that hurts the most, because I really did love this place.
