I travel almost 30 one way miles to shop here because of the high quality, well marbled, meats that they sell. If you want to try and compare them to your grocery store, stay home, they are in a higher league, far above any grocery store. They have homemade lunch meats that are made on premises, homemade sausages, and even homemade frankfurters (hot dogs). You'll never go back to store bought items ever... When you order your steaks, they cut them only when ordered to your exact liking (thickness, marbling, and trimmed if you prefer. They have their own smokehouse and smoke their own meats, ham, bacon, sausages, ect. They have the best smoked pork chops (Kassler Rippchen) I have ever purchased in NJ. They have an awesome bakery, a small grocery section of German and Polish type foods. They also have pre-cooked food items you can take home to reheat them for dinner or for lunch. read more

From home smoked hams & home made cold cuts (their home made liverwurst is to die for) to fresh ground beef, it is the place to go for all your basic meat,poultry & cheese needs. Absolutely love this place. Really good fresh meat, homemade food, wonderful stuffed breads. We were there last weekend and it was PACKED but the line moves pretty fast. I will do my best to describe this place but I will not do it half the justice it deserves. Let's begin in the butcher shop portion of this amazing palace of food. The meats are so beautiful and so fresh it actually glistens in the case. The cases are so incredibly clean you can see your reflection in them as you stare at the steaks, burgers, lamb, pork, and chicken. The smoked pork chops are a masterpiece and amaze the taste buds. The stuffed chicken is so excellent it does not even make sense to try to make it yourself because it will never be as good. The prepared foods are so abundant and taste so delicious- everything is homemade- pierogies, potatoes, veggies, pasta - the list continues and continues. The bakery counter offers so many sweet and tasty treats. The restaurant is by far the best place you can grab a bite to eat. The menu selection is so vast that you need to stay focused but it is so difficult. The BBQ chicken wrap - oh so good. The sausage sandwich is something you will dream about. It is fresh made sausage not that put together, compressed supermarket sausage. You will not be disappointed when you leave this place. Set aside a good chunk of time for your first trip because you will overwhelmed. The food is incredible, the staff is so helpful and kind and the price cannot be beat for the quality of the food! My only problem with this place is that it can be overwhelming. The countermen are so eager to serve that you hardly have time to reflect and choose. Better to go in with a shopping list. I learned of this store from a random Facebook ad and -- after checking out the ratings on Yelp! -- thought I would make the long trip out to the far reaches of Ocean County. The parking lot and the store were packed and it was a weekday afternoon!!! They have a vast array of raw meats and sausages and all sorts of cooked proteins and side dishes, not merely German. There are also selections of all kinds of fresh baked goods and some groceries. The staff is very helpful in explaining the differences between choices and making recommendations. Every person I spoke to while in line said something to indicate that they are happy frequent shoppers, from daily to once a week. One woman told me not to worry about making a wrong selection, as everything they make is fantastic. She was right!! I walked out with 3 types of wurst, 3 side dishes and a lovely carrot cake for about $33. Everything was fresh and delicious. Will be back! For those familiar with Monmouth County, this place is like a smaller version of Delicious Orchards, only without the produce section. read more

My partner and I had lunch at the Forked River German Butcher Shop and were blown away by how big and delicious the sandwiches are. I had the A Dub sandwich, which is a spicy chicken sandwich topped with a heaping pile of lettuce and onions and my partner had a chicken parm. Also we each had a side of salads (mine was pasta and he got potato salad) - there was an incredible selection and everything looked fresh and tasty. I am a foodie.I will travel for markets & such. I live a half hour away. I used to really enjoy the busy atmosphere and the product mix.Over the years,the pricing seems to have creep-ed up. It is now no bargain and actually on the `expensive` side. I appreciate the meat quality and do pay but the cold cut prices and salad prices have gone up alot..I took home an egg/potato large salad abt 2lbs and some mac salad and was $15.43 for BOTH total.Alot for mid-week side dishes. They had a lovely `warm` deli ham that was missing from its usual heat lamp..When asked the VERY young staff members on duty that day about it they didn`t remember and had to ask cluelessly about it.Only 1 older woman knew what I meant and said there would be a new one out the next day.TRAIN YOUR STAFF. The youngsters asked for confirmation to other staffers on half my order.I decided my patience wearing thin and stopped ordering. The stuffed breads & bread in general good..The trucked in bakery items ok.I will give this another try soon and report back..One more strike I`m out. read more

I went to this Butcher Shop on 12/3/13. What an awesome experience. Must say it's not my first time there, been going there for years. First I ordered meats, cold cuts and other minor things for the week. Then I requested to put my X-mas eve & X-mas order in. They sent out a designated person for that to help. What a pleasure this young man was. Not only did he make recommendations but he took his time with me and I didn't feel rushed at all. My son is gluten free so now they have over 50 items labeled just so. OMG I was in heaven. Although I live in LEH I will definitely make a weekly or biweekly trip. So worth the extra money you're paying for the great quality of meats/food. Thank you so much for your patience, kindness and understanding of certain dietary needs that people might have.
