What a great store! Many things available in bulk with good prices. The bakery is amazing. So much great prepared food! Salad bar, many other salads. As many time as I've been to Forklift, I can't believe I haven't done a review! I'm slacking big time...lol! I came here when it was still Food 4 Less and then they changed the name to Forklift by Nugget. It still has that Food 4 Less feel with Nugget signage. They have a great selection of organic produce, I think I spend most of my time in that department. They have bulk organic and non organic spices, dry beans, rice and organic powdered broths etc... The bakery makes amazing fresh bagels my favorite is the Pizza Bagel and the Jalepeno & Cheese. They do have a nice variety of bagels. They are so soft and huge. If you get there early enough the bagels and the fresh bread will still be warm. The meat department is well stocked with meat. I'm glad they sell organic and grass fed meat. They do carry non organic meat if you don't buy organic. The service is always great and staff is friendly. They carry great selection gourmet cheeses and meats which definitely a big plus in my book. This store pretty much carries everything you need. I do love shopping here which I'm in the area. My neighbors recommended Forklift for their holiday prime rib. Crossing my fingers that they hadn't sold out right before Christmas, I was so happy to find the last one available at exactly the size I was looking for! Not only that, but based on price, the quality of the prime rib was so much better than the other grocery stores we checked. Scored! We hadn't planned on buying anything else, but it was our first visit and the produce area was awesome. Walked away with an abundance of fresh veggies at great prices. We really appreciated the thoughtful layout of the store, with sale items located near the front. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Christmas dinner turned out fabulous with all ingredients provided by Forklift. We'll be coming here more regularly in the future even though it is a bit of a drive for us. read more

We were in shingle springs on Saturday. We went to the forklift and ordered the Blast sandwich - bacon, lettuce, avocado, salmon and tomato. My favorite sandwich with all the ingredients I like. The bread was great. We also spent money on other grocery items that I never find at my usual grocery stores- 99 cent store, dollar tree, Costco. We had a good time and ate the sandwich with coffee at Starbucks. read more

Grocery selection is pretty good, and their prices are decent. The one star is for their customer service. It would be nice not to feel like you're inconveniencing the teller every time you check out. Even helping bag groceries it somehow still inconveniences them. Wow. One of my BIGGEST pet peeves is when STAFF call their guests/customers "honey" and "sweet heart" and "darling" and "sweetie." The young lady in the deli called me oit my name (yes, she used every one of those listed) about 17 times INSTEAD OF asking me if I wanted mt meat sliced thin, which I did, but who knows wth I got...? I find this absolutely unprofessional and angers me to my core. Sorry, been in the service industry for over 30 years and if I caught one of my employees saying this to a customer, trust... they'd never say it again. Gossiping with your friends and then speaking to a customer like a child... not for me. Get it together. read more

This is the only market we shop at during the pandemic. It is a 40 minute drive from home and there are markets 15 minutes away, but It is worth the drive to shop in safety and without constant stress. The customers all are masked and for the most part respect distancing. The product selection and prices are as good as you can get anywhere. The employees are phenomenal, helpful, courteous, and friendly. Even after this mess is over, Forklift will have our business. read more

This is hands down the best grocery store within driving distance of Placerville. They have my loyalty because from the very beginning they have showed they take the Covid risk seriously - enforcing mask requirements for customers and staff. I used to call this "the dancing store" because they have lovely wide aisles and play upbeat music - I would often find myself dancing to the groove as I shopped. Now I don't have so much fun anymore due to the pandemic I just want to get in and out with my stuff... but the staff at this store are awesome - polite and professional. I can't say enough about this store. Raleys and Safeway down in Placerville are dismissive of mask regulations so I drive a little extra to shop where the staff and customers are as safe as they can be. read more

Okay, its just a grocery store you say. Whats the big deal? It can't be anything special, right? Wrong! This place is strangely amazing. I know it is owned by Nugget but it *feels* like a little mom and pop. The people that work there are top notch. They are all so helpful and kind. One of the cashiers actually was one of the first people to welcome me to the area! While there you will find all your normal groceries, a little more emphasis on health food options (and weirdly, but awesomely, Zoya nail polish). But you may also randomly hear happy birthdays being shouted out over the intercom. And people thanking each other! And it is never difficult to find someone to help you out. I'm a huge fan of Whole Foods and Trader Joe's, and now can add Fork Lift to my "Best Grocery Store Ever!" list. It's the cleanest, most immaculate and organized grocery store I've ever seen! The employees are friendly, and seem to genuinely care about the store and their customers, which I appreciate. We had such a great impression of this store last January when we stopped in at 6am (they open early!) to walk around, stretch our legs, and grab some snacks for the remainder of our road trip to Tahoe, that now it's become our regular pit stop for Tahoe trips! They have a great bulk food & spice bin section, and carry a variety of brands from conventional brands to gourmet/high end brands, to organic, locally sourced foods. You even have a variety of choices at their hot or cold food bars, deli and bakery. With a wider range of products at better prices than Whole Foods and no compromise in quality, I only wish there was a Fork Lift closer to home! Btw, they sell an array of fun piñatas! read more

These guys are doing a great job restocking (*during the 2020 Pandemic). I try to go to Raley's brand stores, and then these guys. I was looking for some Asian Curries, and found that compared to my Bel-Air this place actually had more green and red curries to choose from than the "other guy". Amazing selection of something I didn't think this "smaller" place would stock so many choices of. Excellent stuff here is: Boar's Head meats Delicious "fresh" Breads Salad bar Good artisan cheese selection Bulk foods is decent ( a bit small ) Produce - probably the best produce section in Cameron Park. Wine Selection - they have a lot of local Nor Cal wines especially under $20 It deserves 5 stars. Especially when they do their truckload sales you'd be crazy not to drop in here and load up. Remember there are only 2 large companies that are "locally owned" supermarkets on the west slope. And Safeway would not be one of them. Fork Lift by Nugget is family operated out of Woodland,CA. In the age of malfeasance a great family run business is just sweeter than homemade lemonade. I always love my Nugget experiences. read more

I LOVE Forklift! So grateful to have this amazing establishment in Cameron Park. The employees and customer service are reason enough to shop here. They are kind, helpful, and really seem to be excited to be working there. It shows through their attitudes completely. My favorite thing is when I'm walking around in the deli/meat department and can hear the employees singing together from behind the counter. It makes me happy every time. Keep singing, forklift! Please! The world needs it now more than ever. I also LOVE the offerings in their bakery and deli. Every Sunday I get either an Asiago bagel or croissant and their amazing chicken salad and make a sandwich with it. I look forward to it every week. Shepherds pie, cheesy artichoke bread, and spinach dip with house made tortilla chips are some other favorites. My only gripe and sadness with forklift is that they got rid of their key lime pie (from what I've heard). What a shame!!! Literally best pie I have ever had. The groceries themselves are great too, by the way. They have all of your typical offerings that you would find at other stores but also fancier brands so you can choose- $1 pasta or $5 pasta imported from Italy? The options are there for you to choose. Also, their liquor section and cold drink wall are just *chefs kiss* So many new and fun things to see and try at Forklift! I'll be a customer for life. Decent grocery store if you're looking to buy on a budget, I did visit the deli and had a sandwich that was pretty decent, the girl behind the counter was very courteous and talkative with the customers. I'm giving this 5 stars because none of my criticisms mean I will quit shopping here. The things I love: Food selection is superb, rivaling any high end market and the prices are better. Spices and baking aisle has every obscure item I've ever had to buy for new recipes or old favorites. Produce is fresh and constantly worked and refreshed with a clerk almost always available for questions. Great wine selection with many locally sourced wines to choose from. The store is clean and pleasantly arranged, with nice end displays. Clerks are friendly, professional, helpful. Here's where improvements could be made: Bagging. Over the years I have noticed a sharp decline in bagging skills. Used to be that most of the time my groceries were bagged nicely--refrigerated and pantry items were separated, and produce and delicate items handled with care. Occasionally I would get home and that wouldn't be the case. Lately, a typical bagging is a mess and occasionally they are bagged well. For example, on my most recent trip all of my items were jumbled together with the cans, boxes and cartons tossed in every which way. Nothing was placed in the bags upright by building a base of sturdy items and placing the more breakable or squishable things on top. Dairy cartons were lying on their sides, and in one case upside down (yes, it leaked). Cans were dumped in on top of meat, avocados under the cereal boxes, and produce packed together with soap. Despite some of my bags going unused, 2 of them were packed so heavy I couldn't lift them up and out of the cart and into my trunk. A kind man saw me struggling and helped me load them . Normally I require no help, so this was extreme for me. All in all, a very nice place to shop with some room to make a good place great. read more

Update to the last 1 star review. It got worse. Against all judgment I went back to this place. I was making homemade lasagna for a special occasion so I needed bulk sausage, which Nugget does a great job with. Here I am, cart loaded up, looking for my last item, ricotta cheese. They only had the large container, for $7. The smaller container is what I needed for the recipe, and it was on sale for $2.50, great! But there weren't any on the shelf. I didn't really want to spend $5 extra for something I didn't need, especially since this dinner was already costing me about $40. I tracked down a nice lady employee, but she didn't know so she grabbed a guy from the meat department. A total jerk from the very beginning, explaining how if they had more in the back they would be out on the shelf. Surprised by his immediate passive aggressive attitude, I explained I only needed the smaller container and didn't want to pay $5 for something I didn't need. I asked if I could get the larger container for the same price, and he literally laughed. Fed up with his attitude, I immediately replied, is this funny to you? He laughed again and said yeah actually it is! Completely disgusted by this man as a human being, I said something along the lines of, well have fun putting all my items back on the shelves, and left without buying anything. I feel bad leaving the cart behind, but hopefully he was tasked with putting everything back and not somebody else. I actually called corporate on this one, since last time I called the store management (about them forgetting to bag an item and then later for food poisoning) they didn't seem to care either. Corporate was appalled. The lady was incredibly nice and understood how I'd never shop there again. I think Nugget is a great company, I love their stores in EDH and Sacramento, but this Fork Lift branch is just horrible. I've since only shopped at the nearby Bel Air, and absolutely love it! I actually went the same day to get all my lasagna items, and paid less for the smaller thing of ricotta! read more

The deli can be a bit slow or understaffed when making sandwiches and trying to slice meat or cheese but recently have seen more staff so hopefully this is a good trend.
