Chow mein with veggie and chicken mushroom.
Marine M.

My husband and I went in to purchase Chinese food from the hot food area. We got home excited to eat it like we usually do. It tastes absolutely awful and we are nauseous after a couple of bits. It tastes like someone served four day old chow mein and chicken. Absolutely disgusting. We will not be shopping for any type of food from Safeway any longer. We might as well drive down to panda in El dorado hills.

While driving back down the mountain from Placerville yesterday, my husband and I decided to stop…read morein to Fork Lift to grab some groceries for the week. I remember visiting Fork Lift like 10 years ago and really liking it - it is a sister store of Nugget Market I believe. The inside was massive, clean and well organized. My husband and I wanted to buy one of everything! Their produce section had every fruit and vegetable imaginable - it was also very visually aesthetically pleasing! I loved seeing their bulk spices, nuts, teas and candy options! Their butcher shop and fish section looked very fresh and can we talk about their massive cheese selections!? I was very impressed and they even had my favorite coffee for sale which is hard to find - the Blue Bottle Nola milk cartons. Overall, this would be my grocer of choice if we lived in the area - check out staff was also very friendly! Check them out!

Brought to you by the family-owned, upscale and very successful, Nugget chain of grocery stores. I became very well acquainted with the Nugget markets living in Davis. There were two stores not far from each other and they were always packed. I shopped at the smaller one as it was closer to my home. It is literally the only place I ever shopped for food.I cannot imagine shopping anywhere else. When I moved to El Dorado Hills 5 years ago... thank goodness there was a big and beautiful Nugget a mile and half away. My point is all Nugget markets are quite incredible. Nothing compares to them. Excellent quality, in-house prepared food, bakery... TDF, floral, meat department, liquor, and fabulous fresh produce section. Fork Lift is to me like the Nugget markets on steroids! I was astonished at the size of the store and cool inside architectural design. Yes it is hip! Super clean, well stocked in everything. Organized. Quite impressive. And the same great departments as I mentioned above that are available in the Nugget stores are right here too! The chatter is that the Fork Lift offers many discounted prices but honestly, I never see them. Then I heard the lower priced items are strategically placed in and around the store. Who knows. I enjoy taking the drive up the hill to Cameron Park occasionally just to wander around and marvel at this shopping mecca! Easy exit off the freeway and fast to find. Plenty of parking. Worth checking out if you are in the area or on the way to or returning from Tahoe. Did I mention super duper customer service!?! And weekly specials! Geez... a girl cannot remember everything.:) Here is to good eating!

This is everything grocery shopping should be. The employees are super friendly, there are enough…read moreemployees there that you're not waiting around for anything, there's always someone bagging while the checker works, there are NO self checkout lines (I can't stand self checkout), and you don't have to enter your phone number into anything in order to get the sale prices. In the rare occasions when I'm not able to find something I wanted, it's because it's something so obscure I wind up having to either ordering it online or making a trip to some hidden specialty store in the Bay Area to get it. I've been shopping here for a couple of years. There's another grocery store that's five minutes from my house, but I drive the 20 minutes to shop here because the overall experience is so much better. Today's trip really stood out to me because of a couple things... while I was at the deli waiting for the clerk to work on my order, at least three other employees came up to me and asked if I was being helped. I've been to other stores where I've stood at a counter for literally 5 minutes, watching employees going out of their way to not acknowledge me. That never happens here. Then I was really taken aback by how the peppers and mushrooms were displayed. The fact that whoever stocked these mushrooms took the time to turn every mushroom cap side up and arranged all the portobellos the way they are speaks to a dedication to quality work. You can tell that in this store, nobody half-asses anything, and the employees take pride in what they do.

Nugget Markets is basically the bougiest grocery store chain in the greater Sacramento area…read more All of the packaged deli foods perpetually look like they were chopped within the past thirty minutes, the bakery section looks like an actual high end European bakery, the floors are clean enough to eat off of, and the associates all seem happy with their jobs. This particular Nugget has a fairly large upstairs patio area with tables, chairs, restrooms, water bottle refilling station, microwave, etc. Lots of grocery stores in this area have a downstairs lounge area, but being upstairs (but still accessible via a ramp and elevators) gives it an extra edge. Plus you can't beat that view of the Mercedes dealership. The salad selection is some of the best I've seen anywhere, although they are very pricey at about $10/8oz (which is why I haven't actually tried one). I came here in search of some tampons that I couldn't find at Target, and was thrilled that this store carried small boxes of single sizes, versus the huge multipacks they had at Target. Thank you Nugget for doing a better job at procuring feminine health items than Target. As a bonus this store (like many others) is within walking distance of the wetland preserve.

I pay way too much money for my groceries to not be able to get a decent bag that doesn't rip before I get to the car, or before the Instacart deliverer makes it to my front door for drop off. Something has got to give. I know that Safeway can do better. As for the service and cleanliness, always decent. No issues there, but fix the bag situation, please.

He finishes, then picks up his paper bag by the handles, and the bag breaks. The beers shatter when they hit the ground, and there are glass shards and beer all over the floor. The self-checkout supervisor at the time was with someone who appeared to be a manager (?). Instead of apologizing or offering to help, the manager (or perhaps just entitled fellow employee) turned to the self-checkout employee and said, "Didn't you tell him not to carry the bag by the handles?" And then walks away!! This move was especially egregious because the employee supervising the self-checkout appeared to be someone with special needs! Blaming this employee for the problem was not only absurd, but actually abusive. The customer with the broken bag was left to try to clean up the broken glass himself (!), while my husband stood there pleading to the thin air, "Can someone please help this man?" Honestly, I think we all know Safeway isn't the classiest place to shop, but this experience was revolting. I couldn't find an appropriate place on the Safeway web site to complain about the event, so I'm relegated to using Yelp.

The crunchiness mixed with the sauce perfectly. It had a sweet and sour flavor that I loved. There were a lot of different options to choose from too sushi, poke bowls, dumplings, salads, hot food, and more. Everything looked fresh and well put together. The deli area was clean, well-organized, and easy to browse. I was originally thinking about getting a poke bowl, but Roderick from the deli was telling me some of his favorite items and I ended up trying the sushi instead. Glad I did because it was delicious. The employees were all really nice and welcoming. Shout out to Roderick and Mary for making the experience enjoyable, and Teresa the supervisor was really kind as well. Only thing I noticed was I didn't see any soy sauce packets or wasabi out when I grabbed my sushi. Usually I see those available, so maybe they just ran out for the day. Not a huge deal, just something I noticed. Definitely coming back to try the poke bowls next time.

But they seem to listen to the constructive feedback and brought back certain good brands and items which are popular and price competitive though not necessarily "nutritional". Staff are approachable and helpful. Points of interest: they have a pharmacy, floral counter, sandwich counter (you can order custom made sandwiches) , deli counter (order deli food or sliced cheese and deli meats), self serve salad and soup bar, coffee and smoothie bar, wine counter (which is open certain hours), and an indoor lounge area where you can sit a spell and eat your purchased food and drink items. The parking lot has two brands of EV chargers. Tesla and EV Go. The Tesla chargers are at the north end of the lot under shade trees.

In the case of Crack'd its much much worse. The toffee is otherworldly and its impossible to put down. I only have experience with the Original Toffee. Its buttery crunchy taste with a slight smokiness and vanilla undertones is among the best I have tasted. The almonds help cut the sweetness and add a needed savor componenet to the whole affair. Its coupled with the semi sweet chocolate which for my palate is perfect. Full on milk chocolate would be too overwhelming IMHO. Its a small family run local business and has excellent customer service. They can be found locally at several grocery stores or at fairs and the like. Better yet they have a website that allows for super easy ordering.
