#ThankYouThursday2021 I don't usually shop at Safeway but recently did to cash in on some great pre-Thanksgiving deals! The coupons I had were not working and the sweetest and cutes cashier named Luis was so pleasant, friendly and patient. He did not make me feel bad that their coupons were not working and that a line was forming because of it. He took care of it and made sure my receipt was correct! Very appreciated! Also, shout out to the nice lady in the meat department who packed up the last 4 strip steaks so I could get the sale price of a max pack! She graciously offered to do it even though I did not ask. One human being to check a person out with more than 15 items is beyond cruel. I wish I could give this place a better rating because the Safeways parking situation in Placerville is something out of a Mad Max movie but I have to be truthful to my continued experiences at this Safeway location. My experience tonight was bad! My bride and I are returning from a trip from the Bay Area and I needed to stop to pick up a few items. First, I go to the Dairy section to purchase 2% Protein milk. I simply cannot find it but a courtesy clerk was putting away some items so I asked if they carried Protein milk. He looked and then he stated we don't carry it and "what we have is what we have!" Then he walked off and I was standing there! I looked further and found the milk. After picking up a few more items I get into the check out counter. The checker does not say hello nor does she engage me because the entire time she is frustrated that the clerk in the next counter is not coming over to give her a break because she is helping another customer! This has happened more often than I want to share about the service here! I think from here on out I am shopping at Bel Air across the street! 1st, the good news is that on line ordering and delivery to my car is excellent service. And lots of bad news: 1. There are not enough employees in this store. I waitied (swear) at the bakery for 20 min to get a cupcake. I found someone after waiting 10 min who was CLUELESS - who couldn't find a plate to put in on, so I got it in a GIGANTIC case - could have fit a full cake. The guy was SWEATING, running around desperate to find a container to put this thing in. Then there was no sticky stuff on the bottom of the cupcake so it slipped around on the huge plate and frosting was rubbing off on the inside containier and it flipped over too! 2. Employees that should be working at the deli are rarely there. If they are helping someone, they NEVER say "I'll be right with you". NEVER. 3. Today I got there at 7:55am, there may have been 5 people in the store. No cashiers, so I went to self checkout - I had a bottle of wine to buy and a bagel. The self checkout lady was, well, A BITCH. Told me I can't check out there due to the alcohol. She reluctantly checked me out ( 2 items people) and I thanked her and she had the NERVE to tell me that I interupted a phone call she was on. "See why we don't do alcohol in self-checkout". UM? WTH 4. Employees need a refresh on manners, customer service, etc. I am not giving them my business anymore. I HATE this store! Don't bother to go before a holiday. They have about 3 checkers for Thanksgiving. They suck. Other than on line ordering, I will be going there anymore. I'm done. After numerous bad experiences at the Safeway on Bass Lake Road, I thought I would give this location a try. Big mistake. This store is worse because it is very old looking inside and not clean. Employees seem angry and are hostile towards customers. While waiting for help at the service desk, an employee who was also waiting indicated the store can't keep employees. I didn't ask why. Fruits and vegetables look old and close to spoiling. I left without making a purchase and promised I would never set foot in a Safeway again. It is really a shame because I grew up shopping at Safeway and those memories are vastly different than current experiences. read more

Only one line open have to wait at least 15 minutes to pay for groceries, then I did not to pay extra for the bag & wanted to take out the basket,she says it will stop u at the door you need a cart from outside & put everything in front of me which I did. Then I paid with my Mastercard & she says it declined the first time second time it went thru why because I am brown & I can't have a Mastercard. I am never going to this racist store ever . The sandwiches are amazing! I was NOT expecting that from a grocery store, tbh. I was running late and just needed something to have on hand since I'd be in the car all day. (I think her name was Joan, who helped me. A more mature, Caucasian woman.) First of all, as a restaurateur, I appreciated the cleanliness of this department. When I see proteins portioned, I can respect the management team as well. Anyway, not expecting anything over-the-top, I went with THE-USUAL, turkey avocado. I noticed they had a seeded bread - i love a seeded bread - I mean if youre going to eat bread it might as well be the best! This bread wasn't your basic 3-seed; It had caraway, sunflower seeds, poppy seeds, etc... better than an "everything better" by far. This deli has an amazing garlic aioli too. I highly recommend adding this to your sandwich opposed to basic mayo. It makes a difference! The veggies were fresh, everything was fantastic. Sorry, ToGos. Sometimes, when we get at the end of shopping, go through the cashier and find out the cost receipt, we can react.. become angry.. let us remember that we need to stop and be grateful... for our good.. that we can be there to be able to buy the food we want or need.. for the wonderful people in line with us as we all have something in common... we can give a kind smile. As, she excused herself for a minute she left and went to get me a chair so, I could sit while waiting for an electric cart .. this is not new for her as, for years I have experienced her kind grace for myself and , seen it for others,, .. many others . It's simply her nature.. the checker Laura that helped me check out was also very kind and helpful.. efficient and sweet natured.. last but not least, Mason help me and my friend out and again offered outstanding service and support as he moved the groceries into the trunk.. I am telling this because, each one were very busy helping others but, didn't skip a beat as they offered service with a smile and expressed kindness with a genuine smile of appreciation for being able to offer goodness to so many... My husband and I went in to purchase Chinese food from the hot food area. We got home excited to eat it like we usually do. It tastes absolutely awful and we are nauseous after a couple of bits. It tastes like someone served four day old chow mein and chicken. Absolutely disgusting. We will not be shopping for any type of food from Safeway any longer. This is for chinese take out at cameron park safeway. Its genrally ok if it is fresh. I go there often. Issue being no choices with beef in them. Peking pork really good, and i like the chicken dishes but nothing with beef. They serve brockley with chicken even. Ive talked to other people who agree with me. They need to diversify a bit. I'm only commenting on the crab they have in the meat market at the Cameron Park Store.. I bought two crab today and both are not very good. The meet is gray not pink and has no flavor. The meat is not sweet and the shells are soft so as you crack them they just crush and do not crack. I've been very disappointed in the Safeway in Camera Park in all areas of their produce and meat etc. read more

I've been a customer of this Safeway for 25 years, and I won't be anymore. There have been so many times I've been in that store and shoppers have dogs in the shopping cart. I've talked to the checkers and I've talked to the managers all they'll tell me is they can't do anything about it. I'm not against dogs, I have 4 of my own but they do not go grocery shopping with me. I have no problem with real ADA service dogs but there is no way these little chihuahuas sitting in the cart are service dogs. well , is it me only or the managers have a HUGE attitude in this location: Cameron Park, CA we went there today ( not my 1st choice of a store but) did our shopping- we go there cause we know what is where most of the time.... we like flower department ladies, always polite fruits & vegetable - great stuffs : Edd or Steve are great, very helpful, Maureen very sweet lady Meats department: Teresa is always smiling, gives great advices on a meat, always has a time to help it bakery dept : a bit cranky & but still nice deli : always nice cashiers : Patricia , Regina, Tammy & few more sorry I forgot to look at there names - NICE, helpful, good attitude no matter how busy there are Now.... managers hm... they are behaving like there are doing us a favor! Really ? Especially today, lady with long loose gray/blond hair ; there was only 1 cashier open, line was long so she opened the register ( thank you) but with attitude! You don't need to say anything to have an attitude, they way she talked to us, the way she scan and throw my darn expensive fruit after that!!! she looked like she was enjoyed to do her job! Constantly putting things on sale and doesn't have any. Constantly having to get rain checks. Sometimes, they expire before they even have the product back in stock. They have graciously allowed recently expired to be honored. Out of a wine on sale for almost 2 months but the store manager allowed the sale price when they finally got some in. Well, today I encountered Crystal in Cameron Park. Had a recently expired raincheck for lunch meat that I asked if they would honor. Nope, that's not policy. Ok, frustrated she wouldn't do right by the customer, but I actually had another unexpired for the same thing, cause guess what, why I tried to buy it recently, they were out. Get to the checkout with over 2 lbs of ham and the cashier says they won't take a raincheck from another safeway. Calls his manager and here comes Crystal again with her smug look. I read every word on the rain check and it does not say anything about only being able to use it at the same store. Crystal said it's her bosses store policy. She would rather $30 worth of lunch meat go in the already full bin of lunch meat sliced but not taken and hope it sells before she would ok a rain check or try to make a very frustrated customer happy. I was so pissed by this point I walked away from my phone on the checkout counter. Came back in when I realized and had to go to the counter to see Crystal.... I again explained to her that safeway CONSTANTLY puts things on sale and doesn't have it. She literally nodded her head and said "yes, all the time". I said so you know that I am constantly having to get and try to use rainchecks, and she agreed. I said I have had rainchecks honored in different stores and sale prices honored shortly after expiration and that I know she absolutely had the ability to have made this right. With her non stop smug look, she just said "I am doing my job". Good job Crystal, just keep pissing people off when you know your stores are constantly bait and switching to get people in for stuff you don't have. I go there less and less, and Crystal just hard lined her way to pushing a customer even further away from wanting to set foot in a Safeway. The ironic thing is if I would just walk out without paying your policy is to do nothing. But let a customer frustrated from constantly having to shop with rainchecks get a sale price, well Crystal ain't gonna let that happen. read more

I came in here recently to specifically buy from Safeway's floral department. I have always heard that out of all the regular grocery stores, Safeway has the best flower section by far! And yes, the minute I walked in, this department did not disappoint! The way it's organized is beautiful and stunning. The set up is arranged by types of flowers and price. The seem to keep up with the seasons- so chances are if you're in need of a gift, they offer something for the occasion. Plus, there is a cool case with beautiful arrangements and assortments in vases. The whole thing including the vase is for sale. Right now they have a lot of spring flowers. I ended up buying vibrant red Gladiolus, they are stunning! A must! Great for a gift or for the kitchen table. There was also a option in white. Only $2.99! The staff was super helpful and I asked to wrap the arrangement and they placed a red ribbon around it- perfect touch for a present. I really do love this floral section! I would suggest it and I will be returning! read more

Good grocery store with a great selection of most items. The clerks are helpful and the store is clean and well organized. They have a good Organic selection. Their weak point are the terribly long checkout lines. Even at busy times of the day they are way understaffed. With so many other choices nearby I usually go to another store when I don't have a lot of time. read more

9:30 on a Wednesday, there are several people in line, been standing here for at least 1 minutes and they have ONE register open. Even the self checkout is closed - though was was another worker standing around there doing nothing. There are several people in line. I find that at this Safeway there is a total lack of concern or empathy from the associates. I take my 87 year old mother grocery shopping weekly and she relies on the assistance of the store provided mobility devices. The past two times shopping the device quit working leaving her stranded mid store. This time, after physically pulling her through the store without any help, I notified one of your associates and she said "okay". I then suggested Safeway put some effort into the maintenance of these devices and she said "okay". I then said I just wanted to make sure the next patron doesn't have the same experience and she said "okay". At that time I walked away. All I get is three words. "OKAY". This is unacceptable. I find that I now have to shop at other stores until Safeway can put some effort into the service that they provide to their mobility challenged clientele. My heart, my love goes out to all of the employees at this Safeway!! My husband and I retired from the Bay Area 3 years ago and moved up into El Dorado Hills and I have shopped here, averaging probably 3 times a week. I am an avid shopper at various stores so I am pretty confident with my rather negative review as to what is happening with this store during these trying times.. The store is never stocked! (When it is, "go for it baby" )The food continues to stay on the shelves, outdated so read the expiration date esp in the deli.. There is absolutely NO attempt to prevent social distancing in this store what so ever! It is so sad!! I went in this morning and bought a couple donuts for myself I ate one in the car on the way home then when I got home I went to eat the other ones I bought and realized there were small amounts of mold on both of them. I'm assuming that means there was also mold on the one I ate. I understand if the donuts aren't fresh out of the oven but they should never be so old that there is mold on the bottom. I'm extremely upset but it's not even worth the time or the gas money to go back to the store over such a cheap item. read more

This review is strictly for the takeout Chinese food. I have never tasted such awful Chinese food! We ordered fried rice, beef with broccoli, and Mandarin chicken. They were all bad. They tasted like they were weeks old. The broccoli was so overcooked it was grey and slimy. The chicken had bits of gristle throughout and it was clear they used "leftover pieces" that was trash from other dishes. The beef was stringy and tough. Obviously the cheaper cuts of meat. If you're going to have someone make food to sell in your store, I suggest you find someone who cares about quality. read more

This is one of my favorite Safeway's. I can always find what I need and want. They're always well stocked. there's always someone available to answer questions. everyone is so nice and pleasant. They go out of their way to help you. They know your name. I would say that the only thing that really needs Improvement which is pretty much the same for most grocery stores is their restrooms. I don't know of the men's I only can speak for the woman's but if they can figure out a way to keep that clean and sanitized that would be wonderful. read more

This store stinks. I go to it because it is close and they have some food items I like. But the customer service is horrid. The cashiers are usually rude and not friendly. But what is even worse is the deli sandwiches. I stood there for 10 minutes today and no one came to help me. The three gentleman who make the Chinese food and fried food stood there and didn't help, nor did they go get someone to help me.... what a joke! This isn't the first time this has happen. Not a bad grocery store. Usually have decent deals(mainly if your a Safeway club member). They do have a deli and Chinese food center which are very good. The deli has a decent variety prepared food(not only salads and sandwiches). The butcher usually has a pretty good selection of meat and seafood. You can also get pre marinade meat. They do have about 6 self check out stands which are great since regular lines tend to get long. They also have a Starbucks located inside this Safeway. Customer service is always great. All around this is a great store and would definitely recommend. read more

I like the sales that they have from time to time. Although, there are some staff members who are always super sweet and caring, a majority of the staff do not handle customer service very well. It was late at night on Valentine's Day. I came in with my husband, who needed to go to the restroom, so I sneaked around and grabbed a card and ran to the line to check out. There was one lane open, with a couple in front of me, who had a decent amount of things. Another woman came up behind me and almost as soon as that, a checker (who is also a manager) opened up a new lane and invited the woman behind me to come over and check out. I was the next customer. In giving good customer service, she should have asked the NEXT CUSTOMER to come over. I asked if I could just come over and check out real fast since I had one item and I was the next customer, she said yes, but she was a bit cold. I came over to the next checkout and while she was checking me out she made a snarky comment, "Do people KNOW what DAY Valentine's Day is?" as if it were too late to come in for Valentine's Day things. I came in the next day to talk to a supervisor and told her about the incident and that I have never really received kindness from this checker/manager. She has always been snobby and rude and I didn't think her attitude was appropriate for customers. The supervisor was sweet and apologized. However, if it weren't for the sales, I don't know that I'd come back to this Safeway due to the snobbery given by most of the staff. read more

I have given this location chance after chance to redeem themselves but without fail they continue to baffle me. There are one or two employees here who have some idea of how to treat customers but they are few and far between. With the exception of one or two people their customer service is horrifying! It's not even circumstantial, you don't even need to give them a reason to be rude or grumpy. They just are! It's ridiculous and disappointing... Do yourself a favor and spend the extra dollar at Belair! THEY know how to treat a customer! read more

Be sure to always ask when buying anything from the Deli how long it has been out and how fresh it is. It can sometimes be out for more than 4 hrs. Sadly, they just pile on the fresh food onto the old food that has been sitting for hours. Their salads can sit as long a 3 days. It was not, the cleanest place to work in, it was very embarrassing at times to serve the food, that was old or burnt. The Chicken is suppose to be out for only 4 hrs so check the time they put on the Chicken you are buying. The Soup is never checked on how long it has been sitting. There are times it was burnt and no one cared. Just always ask how long it's been out. Forklift Salads are self serving and fresh daily. May cost a little more but so worth the extra money for a fresh salad. read more

No shopping carts? Hardly anyone was there (late night). Also had to search for a basket. What the ???. Of all the times we've been to Safeway... any Safeway, a lack of shopping carts were the least of our concerns. It's a grocery store. You find what you need and check out. No fuss. Just don't go here for Dippin' Dots like I did because they are no longer sold at grocery stores. They don't keep well in the freezer. Employee's are forced to perform like robots. Every time you check out they are required to ask "did you find everything" DUH why am I checking out? Plus the employees park in spots close to the store. Makes it hard for customer parking. Also, they plaster your milk with smiley face stickers......some manager must think that's a great customer appreciation gimmick. (save the paper please) read more

I was at the Deli counter when a stocky Deli Lady argued with me about a salad. I mentioned that staff there have been serving me this salad in a small container for the last 6 months. She said they should not do that and wanted their names. Please. When the throwout percentage in a grocery store is 38%, why the nick picking. They throwout more than that little bit we argued over. Shouldn't the customer be welcomed. Maybe this is why the prices are high. read more
