Rented the studio for half/day for a video interview…read more The studio was located on the second-floor walk up. The stage manager was super nice and helped to bring our gear upstairs. All the in-house gear that we requested was accounted for and in great working condition. Good size studio, enough to run a full roll of seamless paper and still have a good distance between lights and subject. Space had all the amenities that you expect at a studio. Bathroom, little kitchen, seating area for the crew, HMU station, gear closets, and relatively tall ceilings too. Be advised, studio A has one structural pillar at 1/3 of the room. but other than that its a pretty good open space if you shuffle your set around. Giving five stars for how accommodating the staff was to make our shoot happen, booked super last minute, had a bunch of changes, but they still made it possible for us. At the most affordable rates in Bushwick!!!

Just had the strangest conversation w/ the event contact person…read more I provided basic info on the event I'm planning - non-profit org, 150 ish ppl, in the fall, cocktails/hds, evening event & asked for basic costings. The woman gave me the run down on ancillary services that may come into play, like catering & security staff, fine, but when I asked about basic rental fee for the space she launched into this script on "well, they are different fees for different types of events like editorial shoots are one price while other events may differ in price". Um, thanks bc I just gave you the specifics on the event I'm planning, maybe we can focus on the costs associated with that type of event? She was clearly attempting to evade price information (why I'm uncertain) so I frustratingly just ended the circular conversation.

I looked at numerous studios, and then a friend recommended Brooklyn Studios in Long Island City. I did a walk through that evening... and booked the studio for a few days. This served our purposes of having a stage and a studio all wrapped into one. Brooklyn Studios was reasonably priced. The staff was efficient and accommodating. It has an amazing rooftop with an incredible view of the 59th St Bridge and Manhattan, conference rooms, and lounge area. Very clean - my shoot involved a celebrity, so cleanliness was of utmost importance. I have worked at many studios around the country, mostly in NYC and LA - this was one of the best experiences I have had. Great location. Easy access. Professional staff. Spotless.
