There was the most amazing display of hats - I believe the biggest selection of vintage hats in Wales over 800 - and the quality was superb. She purchased a fantastic 1930s outfit plus hat and bag and gloves - all in superb condition and was able to view a similar outfit in the most amazing original fashion books from a French fashion house of the 1930s which contained the hand drawn designs of that period with hundreds of original fabric samples. I have never seen anything like it. She found it difficult to resist so many items, but I managed to restrain her - eventually!! The selection of 1930 wedding dresses and veils was amazing too. There were many other antique shops all under one roof plus a cafe. Highly recommended for an absorbing day out. It is great to to able to park easily too.

Penarth has an astonishing number of charity shops within a really small area so it's difficult to…read morepick favourites. As a general rule I tend to support anything that is vaguely connected to animals so the PDSA will always be a winner. Bitten by the charity shop bug at a young age (my nan used to drag me around all of the shops in Penarth on a Saturday afternoon) I'm a dab hand at finding a gem in amongst all of the goodies. To be honest there is a decent selection of stuff so the assistants really seem to be skilled at picking the best stuff to put out on the rails. There are also quite a few young volunteers so it has a really diverse range of merchandise. I find that the PDSA also seem to price things really fairly so it really is a place to pick up a bargain whilst contributing to a really good cause.

You can often pick up a good bargain here as the clothes are supposed to be 'seconds' - although often it's impossible to find anything wrong with them. Many 'casual' style garments plus fleeces and coats, and some nightwear as well. There are changing rooms too.

I remembered there was a shop in Penarth that my mum used to use so made my way down to see what they could do. I was greeted by helpful and friendly staff who seemed like they really knew what they were doing and was assured I could come back in a little while and have my watch ready, so I browsed around Penarth for a bit and returned about an hour later. It was all done! As well as adjustments they also do custom jewelry, watch repairs and wedding/engagement rings... (a girl can dream eh?)

I don't want to leave a bad review like this but I have to be honest…read more My fiance and I came here to get his platinum wedding band sized down. We didn't check the band properly when we collected it in the shop which was our mistake, when we got home, we saw that the ring was full of scratches inside, the assay mark that said it was platinum has rubbed off, and one side of the ring was completely dull and unpolished. I phoned and complained and they said to bring it back. I bought it back and complained about how upsetting it was, and how it was unacceptable for us to have our ring returned to us in this condition without them saying anything about it. The owner said he will polish it but didn't really own up to his mistake or genuinely apologised for the poor craftsmanship. Considering that this is our wedding band, and to have our precious ring returned to us like this, I was very very upset. The owner got very defensive and rude, I was sworn at and he threatened to call the police! The whole situation was rather unreal, I have never seen anyone treat a customer like the way I was treated. The owner's daughter was there and diffused the situation, credits to her. So in the end, he restamped the assay mark and polished again. But unfortunately, the polish was still not up to scratch. Also, in the process of restamping the assay mark, the ring was deformed and is now no longer completely round. The whole process was so disappointing and upsetting. Because of the memories now attached to this ring, we are going to get a brand new wedding band. I cannot imagine putting this ring on my husband when we get married as it would just be upsetting and make me cry- and not in a good way... So we spent upward of £500 on the platinum band, then £70 to get it resized, and now spending upward of £500 for a second wedding band... So needless to say, I do not recommend.

From it's colourful, bright window display and equally colourful interior. The décor theme is true American Graffiti - think Happy days, The Fonz and you'll get my drift - with posters, prints, ice cream sundae stands, all dressing up the place and creating that 'New' once over. The zappy 1950's, 1960's music bouncing off the walls, giving you a truly, marvellous spring in your step comes from an American styled jukebox that takes pride of place at the back of the store. This is, theoretically, a second-hand clothing and accessory shop, but with a difference. In fact, it is a YMCA charity store, but you wouldn't guess it in an instant, so the staff and associated people's altruism is commendable as this place is given true love, with astounding attention to detail. There is no musty smell billowing out of the once worn fabric, in fact, there is no stale odour emanating out of any pour of the building, something that you almost always find when browsing through a 'pre-owned' clothing shop. There is no feeling that the items have any negative aspect to them whatsoever, from being a 'reject' - someone's bad buy - 'had-it's-day', or.......formerly much loved but owner sadly said, Adieu! This place is bright and happy, and it's cheerfulness rubs off onto the staff and the browsing/buying public. All the items are donations from well intentioned people and are checked and cleaned at the association's recycling centre in Cardiff Bay before going on sale and they only stock good quality clothes and accessories - so no rubbish. I do so hope this shop survives as it is trendy and hip and it is a really positive place, but you know the fickle public out there, and in these tough times, they almost want it given away. The items are indeed good quality and priced like any charity store with items going around £5 - £8 or much less. Albany Road does have quite a number of charity stores, but this one certainly sets the benchmark.

It may not suit the younger generations, but for me I found the clothes to be stylish and modern, and the shop assistant was so very friendly and helpful I bought a beautiful jacket after having looked for something similar all summer, but without any luck. It's very high quality and exactly what I wanted, and it has already been highly complimented on by my friends. I'll definitely go back when I visit Penarth again next summer

The clothes seemed like something your aunt would wear to a colleague's dinner party, and although the shop isn't anything incredibly special, I think shoppers of a certain age may find something here to suits their tastes. The accessories here are varied and plentiful - the wall to the left is covered with beaded strings in a rainbow of colours. Prices here seem fairly reasonable, with jumpers priced from about £45. The shop assistant (or Ginger herself, perhaps?) was cheerful and helpful, and struck me as incredibly stylish, making me feel a bit frumpy in my hoodie, jeans and trainers (hey, it was a Monday morning after all!).
