This is one of two antique shops in Cowbridge, (if you don't include the Craft Barns, to the rear of the High Street, down one of the various little alleys that tend to take you somewhere magical in this town). The other antique shop, Eastgate Antiques, is a slightly more old fashioned version of this one, but although Havard & Havard Antiques looks bigger, it really doesn't seem to carry any more stock.
Cowbridge is reputed to be the most wealthy town in South Wales, and so it's unsurprising that they have a couple of classy antique shops... it's actually surprising that they don't have more! Prices for items on display seem hefty, but I would imagine that they are representative of the 'going rate'. But I also guess you also get to pay a premium for things bought in this affluent town!!!
The stock is generally quite gorgeous, and so this is a shop well worth visiting for that special something for the home.
Hot tip: Cowbridge has been severely affected by the recession, with several well established shops having bitten the dust in the last year. I would image, this being the case, that some heavy bargaining would secure you a great deal! Go for it! read more
