Christy & James captured our December 2022 wedding, and I can't imagine our day without them. I'm so grateful they were referred to me through other wedding vendors. Immediately upon introduction, Christy was so warm, personable and loving, I instantly felt like I made a new friend. She took the time to get to know us both individually, as well as a couple. It is so clear how much they care about their clients, as well as the passion and pride they take towards their work, which is absolutely beautiful. Christy shot our engagement photos which we were initially hesitant about, but she was so encouraging, and I'm SO glad we did them. It was a great way to feel comfortable in front of a camera before the big day, and the photos were incredible. Being an extremely indecisive person, I couldn't decide on a location, so she took the time to learn what was important for us and weighed in with several suggestions weeks and days leading up to the shoot. She had such a positive, calming, down-to-earth presence, and made us feel at ease and natural the whole time. She also delivered our photos so quickly which was such a nice surprise. We were counting down the days to our wedding, because we couldn't wait to work with her again after seeing how well she captured us. Christy & James were both present at our wedding and photographed the day so beautifully. They showed up early and worked so hard throughout the whole day and night (even with sick kiddos at home). They went above and beyond not only photographing every detail to perfection, but getting to know our family members and bridal party. They did not miss a beat and are the perfect team. They are also so fun and funny (both individually and together), with very low-stress energy that kept us laughing all day. There were times you didn't even know a photographer was there, because they were never in the way but still found a way to capture everything. They shared sneak peaks just days after the wedding, and when we received our full album shortly after, we were so blown away by not only the quality, but the amount of photos we received!! Choosing photos for our album will be impossible, because all of them are perfect. I get chills every time I go through them, and I can't begin to count the amount of compliments we've received. Finally, Christy & James are so professional, responsive and easy to work with; whether it be checking in regularly, answering questions/emails immediately (with so many thoughtful details), sending surprise gifts, editing/photoshopping photos to perfection, the list goes on and on. I know some people worry most about the food or the flowers but for us photo was Queen. My husband is a cinematographer, and I'm a makeup artist who works in print and video industry. So as you might imagine we are a little picky about images. Right away we knew what we did and didn't want. We also realized it was going to be hard to find someone who could shoot our wedding the way we envisioned. The two styles of wedding photography we kept running into was photojournalist style and cheesy contrived poses. Besides hating both styles it didn't really go with the look of our wedding, 1940's film noir. We wanted glamour, sophistication and a little bit of camp. We needed someone who actually knew who to take photos. Luckily I had worked with Kristyna Archer a number of times on photo shoots. I knew how amazingly talented a photographer she was and she was easy going and fun to work with. We were thrilled when we found out besides shooting for magazines she also shoot weddings. She understood what we were after and didn't try and talk us into doing some check list of cookie-cutter-photos. It was so important to us to have Kristyna shoot our wedding that we brought her all the way to Montreal with us. She was the hardest working person the day of our wedding. Running around making sure we got all our crazy photos. Our wedding photos are beautiful and look more like something you would find in a magazine then an average wedding. If you want photos that are as unique as you, then you need to hire Kristyna. Because of her background in fashion and adverting photography you can rest assured she knows how to compose and light. However, after more than four months had passed, there were no sponsorships or tickets sold and for that reason, I had to cancel the event, which was only two and a half months away. Here were two assurances in her contract: Create impactful promotional content Assist in sponsorship level creations & materials While I can't prove if the promotional content was impactful, it certainly didn't appear so given there were no sponsorships or tickets sold. And while she did create sponsorship materials, they clearly weren't helpful either in terms of selling tickets or securing sponsors. She also said that she had previously hosted a fundraiser for the charity I was looking to raise money for, so I believed her claim that she could secure sponsors and sell tickets without a problem. When I asked why there were no sponsorships or tickets sold upon cancelling the event, she said the market was unusually bad. If that was the case, I don't see how she couldn't have known this information merely four months earlier when we agreed to work together. Is it reasonable to think that the market changed so drastically so quickly? And why didn't she tell me the market was bad sooner before she started spending more time? She could have offered me the option of requesting a refund and suggested I cancel the event some time sooner. I should also note she did not create promotional materials until 4/5/24 and did not share a task list until 4/6/24. I then waited until 5/11/24 and saw that she hadn't contacted anyone on the list yet, so I sent over 100 e-mails over the next week, but hardly received any interest. The event was scheduled for 9/16/24, and since we didn't have any sponsorships or tickets sold, I decided to cancel the event on 6/27/24. I know people don't always buy tickets early, but the fact that not a single ticket was sold made no sense. At the very least, given that she materially misrepresented what she could offer, I would think Nicole would have offered a full or partial refund or at least a credit if I agreed to work with her again, but she made no such offer. I initially communicated all of this information through the Better Business Bureau, who reached out to Nicole multiples times, but Nicole did not respond to any of their requests. If she did, then I wouldn't have written this review.
