High Desert Labradoodles produces one litter at a time, raising puppies in their home, with an incredible focus on their wellbeing, temperament and socialization. Dakota's philosophy and commitment to both the mother and puppies is unmatched. Each puppy, from birth through the careful matching process with each home, is gently and deliberately handled, loved and socialized. The puppies are loved on by her wonderful family, including her two daughters, which was a large bonus for our family. We were looking for a family dog, which Australian labradoodles are well known as, but being raised from day one around and handled by smaller hands was a wonderful asset. Dakota runs such an ethical, mindful business. She is wonderful and was happy to answer any questions I had before our puppy was born, in the eight weeks our puppy was in her care and even when we took our puppy home. Everywhere we go, our petite girl Granger (from Leo and Dory's litter), receives numerous compliments on her temperament, looks, and affectionate nature. I am constantly asked to give the name of our breeder and happily share High Desert Labradoodles name every time. Granger was potty trained and sleeping fully through the night within 10 days of coming to our home, a true testament to the extra effort High Desert Labradoodles and Dakota put into working with the puppies. I highly recommend High Desert Labradoodles!

The entire process (from putting in our deposit before the puppies were even born to picking up our little Wilson at eight weeks), had an easy flow all the way through. Dakota (the owner) was very forthcoming with pictures, videos and helpful tips for transitioning our puppy. She carefully matched our puppy to our description of lifestyle and the personality we desired. Wilson is thriving with us due to his early days with Dakota. He is a very healthy, happy puppy and has no health issues whatsoever. We highly recommend High Desert Labradoodles .

I needed the smallest, calmest dog I could find, due to my multiple disabilities. She was extremely wonderful sending weight updates, and photos for my children to see. She was flexible with payment, not on price per say, but on the time frame, being understanding of our low income. When it was almost time for Nala (Princess Nala Sweet Serenity) to come home, my husband unexpectedly ended up in the ICU, and she was very flexible with delivery dates, and showed great concern for my husband and our family, praying with us until he was released. When she arrived with Bri Maia's helper, it was nothing short of amazing. Bri was extremely kind and went through the giant tote bag Maia sent with her with 2 blankets, a bag of her food, 2 things of wet food in case, 3 toys, potty pads, and all her paperwork which Bri read to me. Maia has continued to check on Nala and we can't be more pleased with her. She is currently 1 pound 8 oz, and is in training to be my service dog. She's the smallest, calmest dog I've ever seen. She never barks, and only rarely play growls at her toys, or whines a tiny tiny doesn't sound real whine if I'm too slow for her royalness. She doesn't pull towards other dogs, cats, kids, people, food, etc. like every other dog including some professionally trained service dogs from huge organizations I have had have. She quietly and with grace rides in my left arm, serene and happy with everything. Nothing phases her.

We are first-time dog owners and any time I have a question, Maia gets back to me right away. There are cheaper dogs out there, but be careful. There are also more expensive ones, but I can't imagine a better dog just because it is more money. We highly recommend Maia!

We're retired & love to shower Lexie with love. We knew we wanted another Havaton. Nine months ago we flew to Portland (we live in Anchorage, Alaska) & brought MacKenzie Bray home! (we call her Kenzie) She has been "accepted" by Lexie (it just took her a few days to get used to this high energy ball of fluff.) I appreciated that Bryan or Kirsten responded to my texts while we waited for Kenzie to be born. We delighted in receiving pictures of her! I'm comfortable in knowing Bryan & Kirsten are there whenever we have a concern for "our girls." I send a text or give one of them a call & receive a prompt response. I highly recommend them if you're looking for a puppy. Lexie & Kenzie are sure a "Joy" to us. Glennis & Jack

To anyone looking to buy a puppy or older dog from Pride & Joy Pups, please read about our…read moreexperience, so you know the kind of breeder you are dealing with and the potential problems you may experience with your new dog. We lost our cherished Havanese, Oscar, in December 2021 and weren't expecting the hole he would leave in our hearts and lives. In February 2022, we began putting out feelers about adopting a young dog (not a puppy) that would already be potty-trained and maybe have learned basic leash skills. We are both seniors and didn't want a puppy, as they require so much energy to train. When we contacted Bryan, he said he had two 1-year-old Havanese females that were too small for his breeding program that he needed to rehome. He said he wanted to place them together since they were very attached to one another. We were told they used a doggy door and potty pads inside the house, without issue. Bryan said that they were "timid." Bryan also said that the dogs were "free feeders," meaning that food was always available, and they helped themselves when they were hungry. When we visited the dogs, we quickly fell in love with them and decided to purchase them on the spot. After we got them home, we noticed that they were both so thin that their bones could easily be felt beneath their skin. Whenever we offered food, they ate it as quickly as possible. It quickly became apparent that neither dog was fully potty-trained in any way. We used potty pads inside the house (we don't have a doggy door), and although they would use the pads occasionally, there continued to be daily accidents on blankets, the tile floor, carpet, etc. For this reason, we have had to restrict them to our kitchen and dining room areas to avoid accidents on our carpet and furniture. Both dogs were extremely skittish with us for weeks and would cringe when we bent down to pick them up--as if they had been hit or were kept in a very isolated place at the breeder's home. It was apparent that they were not properly socialized. We could not get a straight answer from Bryan about whether the dogs were really a year old (they exhibited behavior more like those of puppies), and whether he had ever taken the dogs to be evaluated by a vet. Our vet saw both dogs two weeks after we got them and told us that they were both underweight (so much for being "free feeders"), and that they both had orthopedic problems (luxating patellae and carpal valgus). They may require surgical intervention as they age. Our vet also said that the dogs looked like Havanese mixes, but not purebred Havanese. We didn't receive any paperwork from Bryan that would confirm the purebred status of our dogs. When we let Bryan know what our vet told us, he was quite defensive and insinuated that our vet was looking for problems to get as much money out of us as possible. This is an excerpt from the email reply we received from him: I'm not sure what to say to you. The vets can always find lists of potential problems that would require lifelong vet visits and surgeries, racking up astronomical vet bills. Sounds like a good business model. Bryan never answered our question about whether the dogs had ever seen a vet. He was also unable to provide proof of their age or lineage. Any reputable breeder would gladly offer information on all those things. We have now had our girls four months and love them dearly, but they are much more work than we thought we were getting into--specifically, the potty-training issues that they both have. Our guess is that Bryan knew the dogs had orthopedic issues and didn't want them for his breeding program for that reason. Not being familiar with dogs, we didn't notice it when we met them. Keeping quiet about their potential orthopedic issues is not something an ethical breeder would do. Please don't make the mistake we made by buying from this kind of backyard breeder who washes his hands of his dogs and his clients after he's made a sale. It's been a tremendously stressful and disappointing experience.

Her pups were just barely born at the time, but instead of just shoving her pups at me, we just spoke about random topics getting to know each other during winter. Because she knew I had been scammed prior to talking with her about buying a puppy, she was patient as she answered all my questions about her, her puppies, and how they were being raised and she took the same time to get to know me as a pet owner and what she was looking for as a potential customer/parent for one of her puppies. Not only did she have an application, but she called every one of my references, (and I know that detail because my friends told me she called and she spoke with my husband since I put his name down as a reference), and she agreed to have a video call with me show me the puppies all of which proved to me that she is a legit breeder. She had already named each pup, but it was no problem to ask if we could rename our chosen pup even before we were able to take her home and she agreed. Our little girl even took her new name really well, going from Elf to Rayla (who is an elf from a show called Dragon Prince)! We love our little pup and Dawn was awesome to work with.
