I am a working mother, so I was only able to take off twelve weeks after my son was born. Needless to say, I was terrified about the thought of leaving my infant child with someone other than myself. So I did what any mother in my position would do: I researched every childcare option under the sun and put potential providers under the microscope until I found one I could feel good about. I narrowed my search down to a handful of places, and then went to each one's website, DPFS, & interviewing and observing the centers firsthand. Firehouse Kids were very professional and took my requests to interview them seriously (twice, went there before my son was born and again after he was born). When speaking with Mrs. Ashley, director of Firehouse Kids, I felt that she understood what an important and difficult decision this was for me. The way that she explained what a serious decision it was for parents to place their angels in her care and how that knowledge guides and informs everything they do at Firehouse Kids really struck me. Every day I get a daily report of what he ate, diaper changes and how long he slept & the only suggestion or wish they did further would be to provide what he did, such as circle time or puzzles or coloring or played on the playground, etc.. I feel that information would make me feel like I know what he did all day and that I was somehow a part of it, which is something I know all working moms struggle with. So a year & half later Firehouse Kids is such an important part of our lives, Infant I teachers ( Mrs. Helen (absolutely AMAZING), Mrs. Kaitlyn & Mrs. Amanda who spoiled our baby boy in their care) & Infant II teachers (Mrs. Lorri (his 2nd mama), Mrs. Hillary & Mrs. Michelle who have been there for all his "first") has made our son so happy, & go above and beyond what is expected of them. As you can tell we grew very fond & attached to the teachers we dropped off our son with in the mornings. They do so many wonderful things to show that they value our trust and support of them. They're very caring and upfront and honest if they have issues or concerns, which I love because you have to keep the communication lines open.

I felt like a horrible parent but God sent me Metropolitan Christian Academy (daycare center) and my kids are with real educators that care. My 4 year old knows all 66 books of the bible and he's being interviewed for the talented and gifted program. Desoto private is a joke, if you want your kids to have fun everyday please sign up they go to the skating ring, trampoline park and movies 3 days a week. But your kids will be dumb as a box of rocks and after working a full shift at work you will have 5-7 pages of homework a week for a 5 year old. Just because they're white doesn't mean they're doing right. I was told by a dear friend that the kids that went to Desoto private aren't learning anything but I had to learn the hard way, but if I can save another child/parent time and money I've done my job. Not to mention you have to pack a lunch every day. This school should be closed down. Their funding needs to be looked into seriously.

First incident my…read moredaughter went to pick up her girls and was notified that one of the girls stopped breathing....STOPPED BREATHING!! No call or anything but luckily that wasn't the case from the ignorant staff. Should have left then but we didn't. Then the oldest face was all scratched up from another kid. They stated they let him go but wouldn't let her see the camera's because of their policy so I asked to see the policy and was told by the attorney they would email it. Received the email and of course my spouse has a Doctorate in IT so we saw that it was just created that day so once I called them out on the lies they agreed to let her watch the cameras. Also this same day I was at the daycare to see the girls and no one mentioned that she was scratched or anything. I wasn't even out the parking lot when my daughter showed up and her kid was all scratched up. The owner and staff talked about how they love the girls so if this is how they show love please we don't need it. The next incident same daughter staff reported once she picked her up that she has a hang mail and is very protective of her finger. My daughter gets her kids dressed every morning so she would have noticed it but again no call to confirm if there was a problem with her finger so she wasn't made aware until she picked her up. Took her to the ER where her finger had to be drained. Of course they are good at not being held accountable. We understand kids do things, get hurt etc... but the lack of accountability, empathy and the "I don't give a F*ck" attitude is so unprofessional. This is just one of the very reasons we don't support black owned businesses. The staff are idiots and I'm being nice about calling them that. When she got her face scratched up the staff would avoid her, wouldn't talk to her without a witness which is fine but no one ever came to speak with us. Don't return calls to help parents ease their anxiety when dealing with the uneducated staff. Lastly today they were told the girls could not return due to another scratch and her fingernail that's about to fall off (that was expected due to her finger being jammed) if the staff knew anything they would know this is the expectation and you don't have to be educated to know that. This place should be avoided like the plague. The staff is uncaring, unprofessional, they lack any kind of empathy and they definitely are not held accountable. This Black owned business is a joke and I will continue to write bad reviews on every platform UNTIL we get a proper apology and a better reason for the quick dismissal of the girls that they so call love.
