This would be a great place to do a group trip with two or more rooms rented in conjunction. There is also a grill and patio area over near the volleyball lawn. Nice staff, and the grounds were well kept up. For the money we spent, the experience was well worth it.

The massive lawn out back extends right up to the river and is surrounded by mountainous forests in the distance. It's a spectacular view especially as the sun goes down. We enjoyed the sunsets on lawn chairs - they are set up under big trees outside each unit as well as in a few other places across the grass. The fire pit next to the water (with chairs and cut firewood) is perfect to chat around as the sky turns dark. The rooms are attached to small but full kitchens which are shared between adjacent units (two rooms per kitchen). We had no trouble navigating kitchen use. There are coffee grounds and a coffee pot in each room, so you won't need to worry about sharing the kitchen if that's all you plan to make. The only issue we ran into was finding shampoo and conditioner (there are no sample sizes here), but there is a market just a 5 minute drive away. Normally we would've brought our own but we stopped for a night here after a week-long backpacking trip in the Trinity Alps Wilderness. Theresa was extremely helpful in accommodating all our needs, even allowing us to use her laundry soap and appliances to wash our clothes! We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay. Then I remembered the beautiful Scenic Highway (CA-96) "Bigfoot Scenic Byway" - boasting the most Bigfoot sightings - connecting the coast to the I-5 in far-northern California. I've always wanted to drive it, so I figured I'd check to see if there were any camping options along the route, and I came across Bigfoot RV Park & Cabins in this quaint little town called Happy Camp. Since they are a private property, they were still able to be open during this covid craziness, and they did a great job with making sure things were clean and social distancing was practiced. We happened to be the only ones "tent camping" as others had RV's or cabins booked. The area for tent camping is a little courtyard that has chairs, a bonfire area, and it's right next to a very clean and well-kept bathroom, shower, and laundry room. The camping courtyard is a bit small and probably wouldn't fit too many tents if people want their space, but again I think most people are there for RV's and cabins. My favorite things about this place were a) the location - "Happy Camp" is such a cute little town along the Klamath River, so you can walk a short distance and be right in the middle of tall trees and rolling rivers... b) the owners who were very down-to-earth and made it feel like everyone there is family, and c) the overall vibe. It doesn't feel like you're in California or Oregon for that matter; it's its own little piece of the Klamath River. If you find yourself in Northern California or Southern Oregon looking for a gorgeous little getaway, I highly recommend it here!

Not really an obnoxious traffic noise. The rest of the stay .....meh. Check in was fine, efficient and courteous. The desk clerk didn't go out of his way to make us feel welcome or anything, but that's ok given the age we live in. Noone goes oit of their way to be friendly anymore. One of the room keys didnt work when we got to the room, but that wasn't an issue really, since the second key worked fine. Upon entering the room, we were immediately met with a strong "mopped floor with dirty wet mop" smell. You know the smell i mean. The pillows (or maybe the sheets?) also smelled ....uncleaned. Not fresh at all. On our return home from a long day in the sun, neither of the room keys worked. We were also locked out of using the door to the elevator so we had to schlep our weary bodies around the length of the hotel parking lot to the front desk where we were greeted with a " I'll be right back sign" at the front desk. Yup. We had to wait in the non air conditioned lobby for the front desk person to get back. It was the icing on the cake of a bad experience. When we returned to our room, my husband racked his elbow on an obtrusively placed cabinet causing a bloody bruise to swell up. The cabinet placed, mind you, not at the center of the wall between two beds to allow safe passage into the room, but on the foot of one bed, in the entranceway. Picture below. This property has been our favorite for years. They recently changed ownership. The staff walks around like zombies and never crack a smile. If they dont want to be there, then why should we come back? Especially now that the property has had a blood sacrifice. Such a shame. Because I'd do almost anything just for the view.

Feeling fully refreshed, we would have dinner in the separately reviewed on-site eatery, then go into town to enjoy our show. Sleep was effective, and we were refreshed for our next big drive. If the pool isn't sufficient for your needs, there is also tennis, and easy access to a pizza pub and coffee cart. Need a reason to return! Only regret is not taking any photos, which will be undone on that next visit.

We were put at the back of the property in a VERY tired room. I will attach pictures. The room looks like all of the furniture came overly used from a thrift store. The layout of the room doesn't make sense. The "kitchen" is very poor, no dishes, pots or pans, no dish soap. The bathroom is very poor, the shower didn't have much water pressure, it felt icky! The towels are thin and small. All of this and in the small print on a piece of paper in the room tells you they don't clean the room unless you stay for 3 days AND request they clean it. We made reservations for this hotel 1 1/2 months before we planned to stay there. We were going to go to plays at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. After we saw how poor the room was, we asked to move. There were not any other rooms available for the time we were there. We had stayed in another building at this hotel 4-5 years ago and it was nice. This is the reason we booked here again and we thought a "suite" would be great. It wasn't. We will never stay here again, so disappointing.

It sits right on the beach, and falling asleep to the sound of the waves is wonderful. Unfortunately, that was about the only thing I enjoyed this time. I decided to splurge on a suite, but I regretted it. For one of the more expensive rooms, it was in surprisingly poor condition: dinged furniture, rusty air vents, a gouged floor, ripped carpet, stained curtains, and sliding glass doors that were so cloudy I had to open them to enjoy the view. The bathroom appeared to have been recently updated, but I found long strands of hair in it. The service was disappointing, too. At check-in, I was told matter-of-factly, "We don't clean rooms during your stay!" I was there for the better part of a week. If I wanted cleaning, I had to request it a day ahead; otherwise, I could go to the front desk for supplies. Having worked in hotels, I understand that housekeeping costs money. Still, after booking a suite, I didn't expect to have to go downstairs for fresh towels or toilet paper. One afternoon, a nap was interrupted by loud talking outside my room. When it continued, I looked out and found a housekeeper talking on speakerphone. Checkout summed up the stay. The only thing I was asked was whether I wanted a copy of my receipt. There was no question about my stay and not even a thank-you. I'd enjoyed this hotel before, which made this visit especially disappointing.

We have stayed at a LOT of hotels during our travels, and this was by far one of the cleanest we have ever stayed at. I'm super particular about checking pillow cases, sheets, drawers and mattresses for bedbugs and it passed my test! Also, bathrooms in hotels frequently have mold issues or dirty surfaces, but not here! If you're traveling for the purpose of seeing the Redwoods, I highly recommend staying here. We gambled at the adjacent casino, and were unable to cash a $50 voucher, because of limited hours & accommodation that should be provided for guests! We took the loss because we wouldn't have made a preexisting deadline. We will not be back and advise others to strongly consider the lack of service provided to us.
