My mom was on hospice for 8 days, I provided the hospice with Cornerstone's name when the time came. Elizabeth and her team came to the house to pick up my mother, it was a very dignified and lovely parting knowing my mom was leaving in the care of Cornerstone. Elizabeth is a one woman show and still is able to be super responsive and on top of it all. She is very professional, friendly, incredibly compassionate, and deeply dedicated to her profession. Prices are affordable and transparent. Cornerstone has been in business over 20+ years and Elizabeth has been a mortician for over 30+ years. My only complaint would be that my loved one died on a Saturday morning. I tried to contact them on Sunday during business hours and spoke with someone who said a funeral director would call me back, but no one did. However, once I called on Monday and spoke directly with a funeral director, everything proceeded smoothly from there. All the paperwork is done on-line. Their prices are good, a big part of this is likely because the office on Millikan (in the City Hall Building in the Beaverton Round) is apparently just a small office with low overhead. The cremation is done through Riverview Abbey. It was done quickly and I was able to pick them up at the Millikan office (you can also pick up at Riverview Abbey). They can mail them to you as well. Obtaining death certificates through them was also easy, as was getting an obituary posted to their website. They are very professional, responsive, and happy to help.

The building boasts a large parking lot that covers two levels, and there are accessibility features throughout the property for those in need of them. Though the mausoleaum is an expansive space filled with light, it feels quiet and intimate. I'm very impressed that a facility dating back to 1916 is able to sparkle and shine like it was built yesterday. I very much appreciate the management and staff's dedication to maintaining this important place that is special to so many families.

The Willamette National Cemetery is a resting place for deceased military and their spouses…read more The administrative building is near the entrance. You can pick up a map here and get information on where your loved ones are buried. It is also the starting point for setting up services. We were here on a Monday morning for military funeral honors for recently deceased Air Force Lt Col Keith McCormick. His remains had been cremated, so the ceremony was slightly different than what you might have seen on television since there was no casket. We were given a map and directed to drive to a staging point sign where we were to remain in our cars until the director showed up. Once there, he guided the car procession to a covered pavilion where the ceremony took place. The wood pavilion was on a steep hill. This was challenging for some friends and family who used canes and walkers. We were told to be sure to have individuals with walking limitations ride in the first few cars so they wouldn't have as far to walk. November in Oregon is beautiful with the changing colors of the tree leaves. The pavilion was surrounded in gold and red trees. It was a cool, clear day, but the covered pavilion would have offered us shelter from the rain and the cold had we needed it. There were a few benches for the primary family members to sit on. The rest of us squeezed into the structure lining the back wall and beyond. In front was a small table where Keith's remains sat. Two airmen (both women actually) walked in formation to the front of the pavilion where they did the unfurling, folding, and presentation of the US flag. Off in the distance about 50 yards to the left of the structure, there were 3 airmen dressed in ceremonial uniform. They held their rifles in the air, discharged them and did the final gun salute. An airman also played taps on the bugle. It was a very quick, dignified ceremony that took less than 30 minutes. Apparently this is provided for FREE to all active military and veterans. This is a valuable benefit and only take a small bit of preparation and completion of forms to reserve ones plot, to have a headstone made, and to organize the military honors ceremony.

Wow! The service was Spectacular and their help was Incredible…read more We had met with Lincoln Memorial, where our sweet granddaughter was buried. Up until this point, Lincoln Memorial had been great to work with, and I highly recommend them as a cemetery -- you just need to get your marker elsewhere. Here's why: Lincoln Memorial wanted to charge a ridiculous price, plus charge an additional $450 because we wanted to design it. I might add one of the reasons we wanted to design it was because they don't have a clue what they are doing when it comes to designing, and can only come up with random, ugly text and one of a very small range of static stock vector images, which we did not like. So it was necessary to make our own design to actually honor Baby Jade. Lincoln Memorial also did not let us know that the green stone eventually turns yellow. In addition, they claimed that if we had a stone made elsewhere, it would not be guaranteed or cared for. We found out this is untrue. AFM guarantees the stone, and Lincoln Memorial is required by Oregon Law to care for the headstones. The stone we chose was 12 x 24, set vertically. Angie steered us away from green given its tendency to turn yellow. We picked blue. We sent Angie the custom design. She and her husband enhanced the little baby feet, found better butterflies and poppies (more detailed to reduce "negative space" where water would pool), inverted the graphic of the Rome Temple, did a sand blasting of that area which we just really loved, then after customizing it, they manufactured, delivered and set a truly Beautiful headstone for less than $1000 (including the fees that Lincoln Memorial charges for having someone else make it and set it). AFM did not charge any fees for custom artwork. It was all included in their pricing, as was the fee for delivering and setting the stone. What a relief to finally have the Beautiful Memorial stone finished for Jade. Cannot wait to see it after the install. So grateful we found AFM!! Highly recommend!

Crown Memorial Center…read more If I could rate leaving a negative star that is where I would start! My mother passed away in January 2023, her body was donated to science with the understanding that once they got what they needed she would be returned to Crown Memorial for cremation. Well long story short she was returned beginning to mid October and she is still laying there waiting to be cremated and returned to family. The funeral director isn't prompt in returning calls or emails, goes up towards a month before you will need to reach out for answers, constantly finding excuse after excuse as to why things are not being done in a timely manner and will put the blame on others instead of taking responsibility for her lack of awareness of the happenings of her facility. She is rarely there as she goes back and forth between Milwaukie and Southern Oregon. When she is in office she lacks communication and customer service skills. Of course the last communication was that she was going to email the people in charge of the process on 11/22 and it is now 12/21 and not a word. At no surprise when I reach out she has an out of office response stating she won't be back until the end of the month. Never mind the fact that there are families that are waiting for answers as well as the remains of their loved ones. So super glad that she is able to afford to take time away from work for the holidays while we wait for her to return to do her job! Have to say to those looking for these types of services: first I am so sorry for your loss, second please make sure that you read the reviews of facilities prior to hiring one, and lastly when it comes to Estell (funeral director) if you are hoping for empathy or for the minimum of decent customer service...you need to look elsewhere as you won't find either of those at Crown Memorial Milwaukie! ***Update 1/24/2025 My mother is still laying in a body bag somewhere in Oregon. She has now been gone for two years this week and has been back to Crown Memorial since the middle of October. Still no ashes to return to family as they still wait for a name to be changed on some permit in Clark County. Keep in mind that Washington State Dept. of Health reported to me that the only thing needed to move forward with the cremation is to have the Funeral Director sign an affidavit. When this was let known I was told that wasn't true and that she was still working on it. It took an entire month, four emails and a couple of phone calls with voicemails (none of which were returned until this week) to get a response only to have them say that it could be another month before this is taken care of. I can't even imagine the other families and the horrible treatment that they have endured. I understand that it must be a hard job to work in the "death industry" but come on Crown...have some compassion and empathy for those who are waiting indefinitely (apparently) for the return of their loved one's remains.

We heard something good about this funeral home and thought we would try them out to create a wonderful service for our loved one. I just wanted to warn some people before you waste your money at this place, these people are very fake and two-sided. They seemed nice off the bat, but during the reception for my cousin's service, as I was coming out of the restroom, I overheard two of the staff of this funeral home speaking ill of my late cousin. I was so appalled and didn't want to make a scene, and I had to go sit in my car and take a few breathers so I didn't go smack somebody. If you want a funeral home that will take care of your loved one until they are in their final resting place, DON'T GO HERE! If they are happy to speak in such negativity towards their clients, they deserve to have an honest review here. Once again, I am absolutely appalled. What they need is new management and a whole new staff.
