Beautiful camp site just about an hour and a half out of LA. We had a church camp here and it was a wonderful experience. The facilities are top notch. Our room was nicely decorated and had good amenities. The camp ground itself had many activities to do - zip line, kayak, swimming, outdoor obstacle course, swings, miniature golf, etc. They also have a good variety of rooms/buildings for your group meetings/activities. We loved our Memorial weekend at Forest Home family camp! Great location, activities, food, people, etc. It's so great that they have times on the schedule where kids and adults are separated by age, but also times where families are doing activities together. And incredible how they have childcare in the evenings for adults to do their own thing!! The long weekend was definitely too short, so we would recommend doing the full week - although it's expensive. However, we would not recommend it for kids that still have to nap. We felt that we wasted a lot of the precious time by coming back to the cabin for naps, so we missed out on being able to do some free time activities. We will probably be back when all our kids are 5+. read more

Forest Home was transformative for my family. It pulled us closer together, it showed us places in our lives where we needed to be turning more to God. It also gave us the freedom to simply enjoy each other's company! To not have to worry about meal or daily events planning was huge! Wonderful weekend of fellowship, worship and peace at this beautiful place, Forest Home, nestled in the mountains of San Bernardino area. This retreat is fairly close from Los Angeles area but at the same time when you get here is like you are miles away from civilization. Beautiful new cabins with all the amenities including linens and towels are provided. Food service was excellent, recreational area was the best! They even have a coffee house and coffee shop with extra food and milk shakes for the hungry crowd. We had an absolutely amazing experience. I didn't know what to expect, but we took our 4 kids there for a week of family camp and it far surpassed any expectations we could have had. Our 9th grader despised the idea of going and he hasn't stopped talking about it since we got back, he ended up absolutely loving it! Our younger kids have been begging as well to return next year. We didn't have any of the issues the poor reviewers had. We had amazing service the entire time, the staff was very friendly and regularly checking in on us. The food was great and we had tons of options. It was buffet and you were welcome to get as much as you wanted. The cabins were clean; everything was well marked and explained well all throughout the week. We went with a group of 5 families from our church and they all loved it too. If you haven't been to Forest Home in the last year you NEED to visit. The family camp cabins have all been renovated and are air conditioned. The newest food service team they hired for 2023 summer was so incredible. Each meal was delicious, the staff went above and beyond, and the activities are always a blast to participate in. Behind the scenes service staff keep the property beautiful and clean, and help to support any need you might have. Family Camp is our favorite time of year. As a parent you don't have to cook meals, your kids can run free and you know they are safe, you have CCA's who watch your children in the evening (who doesn't love free babysitting), ALL while your family grows closer together and to God. Spouses and marriages are fed daily by the speakers and you will leave feeling full at the end of the evenings. The activities can be overwhelming when it comes to choosing (not a bad thing). There's arts and crafts, field competitions, a hall full of games, a pool and fire pits for the evenings. The lake has a blob and water slides, kayaks and paddle boards, and are throwing. Canyon park has a zip line, paintball, ropes course, treetop adventures and a giant swing. All of this is nestles in the beauty of God's amazing creation. We love Forest Home! We just got back from our 2nd family camp and it was an incredible experience. They really pour into your marriage (guest speakers from Focus on the Family, top notch teaching pastors) and pour into your children (trail adventures, CCA's, spiritual leaders) -- our family comes home a little stronger and more connected, with Jesus as our anchor! Plus, there are a ton of different activities you can do - i.e. lake day (get yourself blobbed), zip line, giant swing, laser tag, escape room, etc. It's a blast. The worst experience for my 15 year old daughter, it was a 5 day camp and she barely made it 24 hours!! Please reconsider sending your kids here with your church group or school. The fact there was NO A/C and NO STORE/CAFE, or anyone person out of the hundreds of young adults aged 18-22, who knew absolutely no information about the camp and the walkie talkies didn't work or the other co-workers did not have one there was NO COMMUNICATION between any employees at all made for a disaster. You make kids walk in the 95 degree up steep mountain terrain for at least a mile with NO WATER, NO BEVERAGES, and no way to cool off after they just hiked a mile to get to their cabins, is just inhumane to say the least. You could at least CLEAN THE CABINS and fix the A/C. I saw and witnessed this myself. It was so so HOT!! Especially inside the cabins then you add bunk cots with hot kids and no fans, no circulation, no drinks and no relief to the heat at all is disqusting. Then you say NO PHONES, NO ELECTRONICS OF ANY KIND, not even a camera HMMMMM I WONDER WHY???? The fact that you told my daughter she COULD NOT CALL ME when she was highly irritated, crying, upset, clearly showing signs of pure distress is just plain WRONG. She is not a PRISONER OF YOUR CAMP!! And she is allowed to call me if she needs too. The fact she had to wait 3-4 hours outside crying and begging someone to help her is a disgrace to everything you stand for. Then a INTERVENTION CIRCLE??? What the hell is that about made her sit there and answer your questions for 2 hours before you decided that my daughter was going to loose it completely and she got mad, and told you that you have NO RIGHT TO HOLD HER AGAINST HER WILL, and all she wants is to call her mom, and your trying to make her stay and not let her leave is absurd. I drove all the way up there not even 24 hr after dropping her off, which took almost 2 hours because nobody knew where her camp counselor was, where the cabin was, or what road to take to get to the cabin. My daughter now will never attend another Christian Camp because she was intimidated, bullied, verbally abused, and ridiculed for wanting to call her mom. And you all said that that was the DEVIL INSIDE HER THAT WILL NOT LET HER STAY AT YOUR CAMP!!! Omg!!! She has never felt so trapped in her life. She was not leaving because she missed her mom, it was because of the terrible living conditions and the lack of water to hydrate yourself in 95 degree weather and not being able to drive to and from the cabin to the activities or the cafeteria or anywhere 3-4 times a day. Even an athletic person would struggle on that climb to and from everyday. And kids were crying, falling down and lagging behind and were told " hurry up, push through it, no breaks keep going"??? No no no!! I wish I was there , boy I do. This was the worst thing ever for anyone to have to experience but worse for kids of any age. My daughter can barely walk today, her ankles , calves, and legs are swollen. She has been extremely light headed, she's nauseous and extremely exhausted. Her face took over 2 hours to become un flushed of redness, she has cuts on her ankles, and knees from slipping on the rocks hiking up and down to go to her cabin, she's dehydrated and sore all over. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND NOT TOLERATED!! And the fact it costs $500 and you refuse to let any kid leave without an entire intervention, no phone call to their parent makes me sick to my stomach. Please shut this camp down. It's not just churches that were there either it was HIGH SCHOOLS that were unloading Charter buses loaded with kids off all at the same time. You don't have enough of anything to support that many kids. They are just dollar signs to you and God was not even talked about at all. God would of never approved of this camp and its leaders or the way you treat these kids and I'm sure that there are hundreds that feel the same as my daughter did but you intimidated them and made them stay or bullied them into staying against their will. Never again Forest Home never again. And to your response owner Jason, you did not accept any responsibility for anything that happened at your camp. Why were their only 2 Med Techs for all these kids? What was their NO AIR CONDITIONING IN ANY CABIN OR FACILITY? They have the a/c units there they just DONT WORK WHY?? With prices of $500-750 per camper you are raking in the $$$$$$$$ and can't fix the a/c??? A darn SHAME! Why is the CAFE NOT OPEN FOR WATERS or BEVERAGES?? We have 6 kids and they all love this camp more than Disneyland. We've attended week 7 for the past 11 years and never had any bad experiences-- after Covid their food was bland and safe because they outsourced to a vendor, but this year they opened their kitchen again and it was back to being over the top good! All the fresh fruit and berries you can eat, bacon, fresh guacamole, salad bar, meats, etc. We go to renew our family vision for the year, grow closer to God, make family memories, get to know the precious families, enjoy a date-night every night (because of the amazing CCA program) enjoy the food, and enjoy the mountains and creek. Overall experience is good. I enjoyed the specialized lectures arranged through t the week. The entertainment room- the Den is set up with assorted fun facilities like Ping pong table, billiards, baby enclosed soft cushioned play area, and even an arts and crafts room on the side attached to the hall. However, I think there is room to improve. The lunches and meals are lavish and offered more than enough. Such a big waste, considering there are serious starvation around the world. We should not live a life without thinking what's going on around us, because we are part of the result. I hope Forest Home can adjust the numbers of meals to its modest with light refreshment for lunch. After all, it's during the hot summer days, and with short period of time not long after breakfast, not many people feels hungry enough to engulf a big meal. I saw there are people dumping food for every meal they couldn't finish. For sure, Forest home can put a nice Reminder Sign to remind people not to waste or reduce wasting of food. We have been going to Forest Home for 12 years, and our family loves it! We have 4 kids, and have been taking our 2 nieces the last 2 years. We love the program provided for adults and our kids. Our kids ask at the end of camp each year, "When are we going back?!" When we attended last week we had an amazing teaching of the Gospel at night, and extremely helpful marriage teachings in the morning. The food was great, and we throughly enjoyed the two adult only dinners while our kids were with their child care assistants for dinner. Our younger kids loved their CCAs, and the older kids had so much fun and spiritual growth at their evening program. The family activities were well thought to build connection and teamwork in a family. We loved doing crafts in the craft cabin, even my boys joined in making glitter tubes. All of the kids spent a good portion of their free time playing pool, foosball, and the marble racquet ball that I can't remember the name of. Our toddler had fun running around, swimming, and catching lady bugs. The cabins are waaaay better than other camp facilities I've been to, and we stay in the lowest cost cabins they have. Our cabin had 2 bunk beds and one loft bed, and a full size bed. It also had a bathroom with a shower room, a toilet room, and the sink just outside the two. Our kids said the bunk mattresses were very comfortable. Our full size mattress could have been better, but as I know this camp is a non profit I know those things get updated as donations come in. Realistically this is a camp, not a hotel so something so small does not ruin my week. We informed staff who graciously took the constructive criticism, and I know from previous experience they will make improvements based on the feedback they receive. Customer service I have received has always been the best at Forest Home. I highly recommend Forest Home and all the camps they have to offer. read more

Forest Home is a special place to visit. It is the kind of place you go with an open mind to let God work in you and through you. It is a historic place, too, with nods to its history all around. Despite being a rather old camp, it is constantly being updated and renovated with new buildings and reconstructions. Our most recent experience, family camp June 2023, consisted of extremely friendly staff, surprisingly great food (see the images for a few examples), deep teaching, and fun activities. We made new relationships that we took away from camp, and we are excited to attend again. We highly recommend that anyone attend at least once. I've seen some negative reviews on here, not many, but some, and I don't want to invalidate their experiences. I sent my ten year old daughter to camp for the first time with Forest Home. Forest Home supposedly prompts what is called "bunk notes". This is a way for you to send and receive mail with your child via internet. Each child receives their note before dinner and gets a chance to respond. My daughter was not allowed to participate in this activity and never received mail. I reached out to Forest Home five times. Apparently, no one was available to assist us in resolving the matter or whatever issue was happening. Not only were the emails spotty and short, but the response was indifferent. Ultimately, I was never allowed to reach my daughter during camp as Forest Home did not follow up. I can only imagine how she felt during the time when her peers were receiving thought and caring notes from their loved ones. She's only ten. She did not receive anything from her family. Nice job Forest Home- way to help a child's first time experience away from home feel comfortable inclusive and safe!! read more

We love everything about Forest Home! This was our third year going and we keep inviting more friends to join us. It's such a gift to get away from day-to-day life and be immersed in time with God, with your spouse, and with your kids. We talk about it all year long and our kids can't wait to go back. My family has gone to FH Family Camp for the last two summers and loves it! To be immersed in a like-minded environment with a staff and families who love the Lord is a big breath of fresh air. And because I'm not constantly thinking about what to feed the family or what we are going to do, I get to show up for my husband and kids with more availability than other family trips and just be Fun Mom.
