There is a minimum two night stay and a maximum of two people in the Tree Howf. Correspondence was timely. We paid via wire transfer which was a new experience for us. The shower in the treehouse is hot and water pressure is good. The composting toilet is down some stairs, but the light automatically comes right on along with the radio. The woodburning stove is a charming and practical touch. You can cook on a gas burner or on an outdoor barbecue. I had read on Trip Advisor that towels and other items weren't provided, but that's not true, because they were provided! The view is unbelievably beautiful and the Highland Cows make it all the more picturesque! There is a lovely little honesty shop where you can pick up any items you may need that is incredibly convenient. This may be the most charming location in the world! It is a great hub to explore Stirling Castle, Doune Castle and other amazing nearby locations! Sometime in 2018 Hobbit Howfs will join the other amazing locations you can book here at Craighead Howf!

There are two cottages attached to the farm but we stayed in the smaller one (Gabran) in May this year; ideal for two people. It was really luxurious and comfortable with so much attention to detail, really the nicest cottage we have ever stayed in anywhere (and we've visited a few in our time!) There's an electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, TV with Sky Freeview, DVD, CD player, radio and hairdryer. It's centrally heated too and was so warm and cosy (heating included in the price) - it was a lovely place to come back to when we'd been out in the cold wind and rain (we had mostly awful weather that week!!) Books and games are provided as well. The owners, Margaret and Tim, are really nice and friendly, as is their lovely old Labrador, Rosie, who was occasionally seen wandering around outside (as were their beautiful black and gold chickens!). There are lovely views from the front of the cottage, over the fields and river, and there are parking places just outside. There were lots of swallows or martins flying about - nesting in nearby barns I think - and sheep and cows in nearby fields. A major attraction of staying in this place was the extremely close proximity to the iron age fort, 'Dunadd', believed to be the capital of the ancient kingdom of Dálriata and mentioned in old texts as far back as 683 AD. It's accessible, free of charge, and it's a 'must' to climb to the top (I shall write a separate review about it)! The rental price for 'Gabran' was really good and lower than most - we stayed a week in May for £310. (The price varies during the year) Although on a farm it was an extremely quiet place to stay - there were very few farm vehicles in evidence. Very peaceful! There was a fire pit and a picnic bench right outside our wigwam and parking space too. Wood can be bought from reception but it was wet and was hard to get lit so I would suggest taking your own and ensuring its dry. There is a children's play area and miles of green field to keep the little ones entertained. The wigwams were very warm and cozy. Highly recommend and we will be back :)

We arrived fairly late in the evening after a long day of travel, and our hosts were very kind about us coming in so late. They even offered to bump us up to an upstairs room (vs. the original downstairs one we had reserved) for no extra charge! Our breakfast was lovely and we had an amazing view of the bay from our room. We would definitely go back.
