My wife, two teenage sons, and I visited Wildwood Park in July 2023. This is a clean park…read moremaintained by MetroParks and is separate from Euclid Beach which is nearby along the lake. Lots of pluses. First, there's a spacious parking lot which has direct footbridge access to the Villa Angela Beach (which has the Cleveland sign). Second, if you enjoy fishing, Wildwood Park has a couple of locations off the piers which are amenable to early morning or late afternoon fishing from the land. Third, it's not as crowded as other beaches in the metro area. One downside, however, is the limited areas where swimming is permitted. This is probably for safety reasons (to help the lifeguards). If you have younger children, however, this beach is a nice option. Overall, I would probably not go out of my way to visit this beach. But if you're staying on the northeast side of Cleveland, it's worth a stop.

You can see the beach, Lake Erie and downtown in the background. The beach was surprisingly well maintained. No garbage. The rocks were beautiful. I also found a bunch of pretty sea glass. The water was brownish. I did walk in it. Not sure I'd want to swim in it though. Lovely views all around. People fishing off the bridge 'catching fresh air'. I couldn't believe it was not packed. If I lived here, I'd be here often.

I am a BIG fan of the entire Northeast Ohio Metro Parks system... BIG, BIG FAN…read more The only thing I have seen that is comparable is the "Nature Center at Shaker Lakes". This location is beautiful. The folks that manage it are committed to returning it to it's original wild beauty. They are in the midst of a large project to remove all the invasive species and replant with everything native to the area. So far they have done a marvelous job. I can't even imagine the cost involved. They are taking donations if you want to help. There is a large marsh area you can walk through on raised walkways and see all the work going on. There is another very large wooded area with nicely marked and maintained trails you can stroll through and just enjoy the beauty of the natural habitat. The main lodge is a very nice facility with plenty of room for children to play and classrooms for education. I highly recommend you take a sunny day and visit the "Nature Center at Shaker Lakes". See for yourself. It's a worthwhile project.

I've seen some activities posted on Eventbrite; such as live music plus a family scavenger hunt. I love the small waterfall and how the sky reflects in the water. There is an area to sit if you need to rest. The gazebo can be rented out for private events. I will be returning to walk through the center but the outside trails are worth a visit. Seeing wildlife is a lovely experience.
