From start to finish, my first FLOAT Quad Cities experience was divine. Upon arriving I was quickly…read moreescorted to my changing/shower room that led into the FLOAT sensory deprivation tank (loaded with 20k pounds of Epsom Salts, mind you!), and given a very informative orientation. I don't know quite how to explain my 60-minute FLOAT experience, itself. I chose to have earplugs in with the low hum of meditation music, and no lights. You'd be surprised how buoyant our bodies are in salt water! The facilities are impeccable + sanitary. Beautiful + peaceful. Upon entering FLOAT Quad Cities, you will be met by Pink Himalayan salt chunks, authentic + pointed quartz crystals, peaceful music, and a friendly employee. The "scene" of this place is best described in one word: SERENITY. Personally, I struggle with anxiety + depression (as we ALL do, I'm finding as of late), and with the mental pain comes the physical pain. I was hoping to reach a point in my session where I could let go of all the extraneous + weighty thoughts that clog up my mind. I wanted to reach a place of complete reception. I can safely say that I was able to reach a point in those 60 minutes where I "let go". My brain started acting differently, as it was shooting endorphins throughout my entire neurological structure. All of the outside world's "noise" was silenced both on the external level + in my own mind. I could feel my spine "crack" a bit, as my entire back realigned itself, naturally. (This further strengthens my belief that our bodies know exactly what to do to heal it, only if we allow it) A+ A+ A+. I can't say enough amazing things about FLOAT Quad Cities + my experience. I would recommend this to ANYONE. If you are hesitant with "small spaces" of any kind, no worries! These are not "capsule tanks". They are Float Rooms. Rooms you can stand in. Please don't let that deter you from what I found to be one of the best things I could've done for myself. Thank you, FLOAT QC! And side note: your crystals are amazing! -Adam

So funny every negative review this owner claims it is false. Or her favorite is to tell people how…read moreterrible they are to try and give a (honest) review which hurts her small business. Then the next sentence brags about her business thriving and been around for 11 years. Her flotation pod has been around for 11 years and most likely has the same water in it, that's for sure! You could not pay me to return. I thought it would be something different to take my sister here for her birthday, terrible decision. First we went in the salt room that was highly recommended. It was cold and we were in there with 4 other people in chairs that were so uncomfortable it felt like we were sitting on a piece of plywood. Ok maybe the salt room was not for us but we were so excited for the "Floatation Therapy Tub"... The birthday gal went first. The sessions were 1 hour each at $74.00. My sister came out in less than 20 minutes. She told me to go in the room and tell her what it smells like. I walked in the room and was immediately met with an overwhelming body odor smell. I have 3 boys who play football, it was worse than the drive homes after practice on 90 degree nights with all 3 of them! The room had used towels on the floor and a "Shower" to rinse yourself that had a brownish red substance in the corners of the shower that was running into the middle. The worst part of it is when she told me to open the pod.... There was viable chunks, large chunks of hair floating in the tub and on the sides of the tub. The "jet" button was corroded, there was some floating squishy thing, maybe chlorine? I hope it was chlorine but I highly doubt it. The it was "purple" but it had white blotches, I presume bleach stains on several spots. Looks like it was the only one and was a few years old. I picked of this thing and was again met with a horrific stench, clumps of hair, and a substance that looked similar to curdled milk. I thought it was potentially salt but I put a piece between my fingers and it was slippery, slimy, and smelled like mold, vomit, and wet sweat. The pod was a small cesspool, in all seriousness it should be marketed as a "Cesspod".. I have never in my life been so disgusted in a wellness spa. We never entered the pod, gathered our things, and headed out before I voiced my experience to the girl at the front desk. She was kind but assured me the pod was cleaned after every use. Then was able to speak with the owner who does not even live in the state. Sue again assured me the pod gets cleaned after every use. The amount of filth that was in, around, in the water, tells a very, very different story. The hair... the clumps of hair... the stench of the room, the brown substance in the shower, the slimy, chunky, vomit squish thing. The plastic plywood, pokey netting well used beach chairs in the "group" salt room (which group session was never mentioned), literally everything. The owner went on to tell me since it is a small businesss they are not able to issue a refund but offered 2 free 30 minute massages only good for during the week because the weekends are the busy time. She did not even sound surprised, almost as if this is normal and she had excuses for everything. Not once did she apologize. I believe she feels if she speaks gentle and kind that should offset the atrocious experience. Never in my life have I been so disgusted with a wellness spa. $208.00 and a ruined birthday later, I can confidently say I will never return and politely declined the free 30 minute massages. I can already imagine how unsanitary those massage tables are. The owner should be ashamed of herself, I have no idea how this place is still allowed to remain open. If any health officials come across this review, I strongly urge you to schedule an inspection immediately.

I tried something new yesterday, an experience that came highly recommended. It turned out to be…read moresuch a remarkable experience that I think I need to share it. I spent an hour in a tank today. Huh? I stepped into a float tank where I experienced something called "flotation therapy." It's relaxation through sensory deprivation and believe me, it is relaxing. What is a float tank? Think of a shallow bathtub inside a phone booth. The tub is filled with water that is charged with Epsom salts. The salt content makes you buoyant so your body floats easily in ten inches of saltwater. I arrived early for my appointment because it was my first visit. There is paperwork to complete (electronically, welcome to the 21st Century) and I sat in the relaxation room to do so. The spa is a warm and welcoming atmosphere with friendly guides who explain everything you need to know about your service. I entered the therapy room and in a cozy area, I quickly undressed. I stepped into the shower and washed off the daily grind, then carefully stepped into the chamber. It is lit with soft, blue light and relaxing synthesized music plays softly. I switched off the light but since music is a major part of my life, I let it play. (If you prefer, you can shut it off or you can play your own music through your cell phone via cable connection.) The experience of floating in total darkness is weird at first, but it didn't take long before I could feel every muscle relax and let go. I could also clearly hear the music underwater when my ears slipped below the surface. (Optional earplugs are provided and no, my face was never near submersion.) I had no sense of time passing. In the dark, and it is very dark inside the chamber, I felt sensations of movement. The chamber is, of course, small so my fingers, toes and the top of my head sometimes contacted the edge of the tub but I felt a sensation of motion like I was floating in circles. If I had to compare it to something, I would say it felt the way I imagine it would feel to be an astronaut, floating around the International Space Station or a Gemini capsule. My mind was racing for about half of the session but in a good way. Eventually, I felt a sense of peace sweep over me. Others who have experienced floating say they actually fall asleep. I don't remember falling asleep, but I do remember being very relaxed and all sense of time was lost. When the time limit was reached, a white light gently illuminated the chamber, signaling that my time was up. I stepped into the shower and washed off the salt, then quickly dressed and returned to the lobby. For that 75 minutes, the world simply melted away and I was simply floating in space, in my own private universe. Afterward, I was totally relaxed and could understand how a strand of spaghetti feels. I look forward to my next session, too! If you feel like you want to try this unique relaxation therapy, send me a private message and I'll give you the pertinent details. It's a luxury you owe to yourself.
