I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Forefront Dermatology. The communication here is completely unacceptable--the scheduling department has canceled my appointments multiple times without notifying me beforehand, causing a massive waste of time. Furthermore, the medical care provided by the nursing staff has been highly disappointing and lacks professionalism. I expected much better patient care and coordination from this clinic. read more

Zero stars*** They're clearly paying for google reviews. Horrible business practice. 6+ months waiting for appt, 45 minutes or more wait time to be called back only for them to tell you the doctor left for the day and you'll be seeing a nurse who doesn't even specialize in what your appt was for. Avoid this place. read more

I have been a patient at the Virginia Beach office for years. Ever since Forefront took over, I have not been satisfied with their service. I went there on July 9, 2026 for two biopsies and still do not have the results. It is impossible to log into the patient portal. I have placed three phone calls and left messages but they have not returned them. It takes forever to get an appointment and if the Doctor spends 15 minutes with you, you are lucky. This place does not even deserve one star. read more

My appointment has been rescheduled 3 times because the Doctor was no longer available. I asked to see a different doctor since I was having shoulder surgery. No other doctor in the practice could see me. I have a spot bleeding on my face for 8 months now. I have an appointment with another practice next month. Thank God I found a practice that cares about my health!!! read more

Worst experience ever! No communication at all. Barely looked at the patient. Barely speaks to the patient or parent. Does not return calls or portal messages. Asked them to cancel an upcoming appointment... That didn't happen. Made a complaint to their corporate office (or equivalent) the office manager contacted me and did not apologize for lack of service but used gaslighting to excuse lack of communication. Example "you probably missed the call because you are a teacher". Do not even bother. I give ZERO stars read more

This used to be a good place. Timely, would call you with updates, would make you aware of changes to appointments. Now it seems the focus is selling injections for people to look plastic. I have had an appointment card sitting on my desk for a year. today 11/14/25 at 9:20 am. I go in and the place is a ghost town. They tell me no providers at this location today. And we have no record of your appointment. Well I have the card right here that your appointment guy filled out. Wasting my time. No apologies. I'm done. read more

If you are struggling with psoriasis, rosacea, or any skin condition that has left you feeling hopeless, I sincerely encourage you to seek out Dr. Diego Dasilva at Forefront Dermatology. For 12 years, I was a patient at Pariser Dermatology Clinic, where the only treatments I received were steroid prescriptions. Unfortunately, my concerns about pain and the emotional toll of my condition were not taken seriously, and I often felt dismissed. After COVID-19 in 2020, my condition worsened, and I knew I needed a change. My first visit at Forefront Dermatology was with Kimberly Silver, MHS, PA-C, and it was discouraging. The interaction left me feeling unheard, and the retinoid she prescribed triggered a flare-up of three chalazia around my eyes. Determined to find better care, I scheduled another appointment at Forefront Dermatology -- this time with a physician. Meeting Dr. Diego Dasilva was truly life-changing. From the very beginning, he listened with compassion, took the time to understand my history, and treated me with respect. His professionalism, kindness, and dedication stood out immediately. Dr. Dasilva prescribed Taltz, a biologic medication that required extensive insurance paperwork. He went above and beyond to ensure I received approval, and thanks to his persistence, my life was transformed. My skin is now clear, pain-free, and my self-esteem has been fully restored. Even my children, who struggled with severe acne, now have beautiful skin thanks to his care. I have recommended Dr. Diego Dasilva many times, and each time, those I refer call me to thank me. Dr. Dasilva is not just a dermatologist -- he is a physician who changes lives. If you are tired of feeling dismissed and want real solutions from a doctor who truly cares, I strongly recommend seeing him at Forefront Dermatology. He gave me back my health, my confidence, and my happiness -- and he can do the same for you. read more

Highly talented, educated, and professional Doctors, physicians assistants, nurse practitioners, and nurses. I have been a patient for many many years. I have been to otter dermatologist and I will say this. I only refer people to this dermatology practice. I especially like that they have many female doctors. I also enjoy that everything is downloaded on my patient portal app on my phone. It may take a while to get a regular check up if you call today because they are extremely busy. Do call as soon as possible. The only negative I will say the new lady at the front desk as you are leaving to check out is NOT the friendliest. I had to ask to make my next appointment and then she seemed like I was bugging her by doing so. Everyone else is perfectly wonderful . So for that I'm still giving 5 stars. read more

My first MOHs procedure went smooth. Dr. Villanueva was professional and patient. he talked me through the whole procedure process and answered all my questions. His assistant Christina was very gentle and informative as well. I would highly recommend them both. read more

Horrible staff (Sage, man with an accent). Made it super difficult to schedule my annual appointment for mole check. Wanted me to schedule an appointment for my body and a separate appointment for my face. I ended up avoiding this office. read more

I have been a patient at Forefront for quite a few years. In the last few years they have steadily gone down hill. They are hard to get a call into and their contact selections by phone do not work. They never return your call for things like biopsy reports or even clinical questions. My dermatologist was the best. He just needs to find a better organization to work for. They are not too good at filing insurance claims and make many mistakes at doing so because they hire inexperienced personnel. I have Medicare with suplimental that has no co-pays and get bills from biopsy labs that I should not get. I have to spend a lot of time on the phone to clear it up, this is unacceptable. I am changing to a new dermatologist that answers the phone and questions in a timely manner. I would not recommend Forefront Dermatology, could not even give them 1 star. read more

My husband went in for biopsy. Three months later they had never called him. I told him check your portal. The test was positive for cancer. He tried several times to get ahold of them but couldn't. He had to make an appointment just to get the next steps on what to do. They never followed up to make an appointment with a surgeon. If you value your life, don't go to this practice. We will obviously be changing doctors. read more

Unacceptably long and sloppy process for notification of biopsy results. Difficult to reach office staff by phone.

Doctor and staff on my appointment was kind and professional, but the after care is unacceptable. Yes they tell you that your results will be in your patient portal, but what they don't tell you is that is can take an additional week to have the doctor call you with the results. You can never get ahold of anyone at the 1st colonial office, all phone calls go into a VM with no return calls. Emails through the patient portal go to a completely different clinic which I imagine is in the midwest. Will I switch to a different clinic after I can get someone to call me back with my official results most likely because this clinic just doesn't answer phone calls. read more

It strikes me as odd that the Google rating for this place is drastically better than their Yelp score. How could such a large discrepancy arise, I wonder? Potential patients, take note of that. Very, very bad experience with this place on multiple occasions now. Karen, the scheduler, is consistently rude and unpleasant to interact with. That's livable; many people are. What's difficult with her is when she calls with a pressure campaign to get you to move your appointment up so the "Doctor doesn't have any gaps before she goes home"- as if everyone else is free all day, every day and able to be rescheduled at will. It doesn't matter to me if the provider has to sit around unoccupied for an hour. It shouldn't matter to them, either- they care a lot about their patients as people, right? That was very frustrating, but we talked about it with the staff and they were receptive and sympathetic to our complaint. Had things been better from there? No problem. Instead, when we went to get my spouse's stitches removed, she was told that her appointment was rescheduled and a voice-mail was left telling her so. The voice-mail in question only introduced Sharon as calling from Forefront before the call disconnected. Nothing was recorded regarding a changed appointment time and we still received an appointment reminder for the original time. No possibility of correcting that as the doctor had left for the day and (understandably) without a provider in office, the rest of the staff was left unable to help, despite sincerely wanting to. There are obviously a lot of great people who work at this practice, but life has taught me something: garbage in, garbage out. This pattern of disregarding the gravity of their patient's health and procedures in favor of convenience and comfort for the providers who work there is sickening and is a textbook example of why those outside the medical field so frequently distrust medical professionals. The fact that such indifference is present from the scheduler to the provider tells me that the culture of this practice is rotting. This is a cash farm to them and their patients are transactions. Once these stitches are out, we'll never be returning to this place, and strongly advise other potential patients to seek aid elsewhere. This is your health, and it may make a real difference. read more

Beth Perry has been amazing in caring for me over the last 5 years. I have had both cosmetic procedures and skin cancer removal. I am always welcomed warmly by the staff and made to feel part of the "family". I would highly recommend Beth and her team. read more

Was pushed to leave a review way before my issue was treated. Issue never got resolved, they never even followed up to ask, but I wasted a LOT of money and time here, including letting my condition worsen (knowing how miserable I was) due to delayed treatment. One very painful expensive procedure had zero helpful purpose, where the initial purpose was only to prove to them what I said and what another doctor said. That happened so fast I never had a chance to question it before they started cutting. Now I have a new ugly scar and occasional new pain from that unnecessary, pointless, greedy, and expensive procedure. Billing department continues hounding me for a bill that was paid because they don't know how to apply the funds they received. And after all that I am still battling this condition. read more

Beyond frustrating to reach this office. I've been an established patient for 4 years. When you call the office, usually no one answers and you have to leave a voice mail. There is about a 50% chance that you will receive a return phone call. Sami McCarty is great, but I'm about to give up and change to another practice, their communication capabilities with patients is poor. I have no confidence that they could be reached if you had an urgent concern or emergency, you can't reach them just to schedule routine appointments. read more

If I could give a negative rating, I would. The office in Virginia Beach is absolutely appalling. I called once trying to find out my diagnosis because I heard nothing back after my biopsy, and one of the nurses put the phone down without putting me on hold and proceeded to talk crap about me with 2 other nurses in the office. I could hear the whole conversation. I was furious, especially since the one nurse was completely changing my words as she's describing what I said to the other 2. Talk about completely unprofessional. I was on my way there to confront them when I received a call from the Chesapeake office that calmed me down. I have NEVER heard back from the office manager at the Virginia Beach office and I have now decided to attempt to report this office for HIPAA violations. Who knows how many patients were listening as these nurses were jabbering about me. If I can recommend anything, it would be to STEER FAR AWAY from this office. The Chesapeake office was a little better with their professionalism, but I would still NOT recommend them to anyone. I went there after suffering with severe skin issues for MONTHS and immediately the doctor told me I might need a biologic but that my insurance probably won't cover two. (I'm already on a biologic for asthma.) So, they put me on samples of RINVOQ, which cleared my skin almost immediately, I cried happy tears! But then, after 28 days of samples, they said "oh sorry, your insurance won't cover 2 biologics"...and literally sent me back to my asthma doctor. They didn't offer to continue me on the samples until I got something else lined up. Nothing. They dropped me like a bad habit and now, my skin issues have returned. They don't care about you. I guarantee it. The doctor spoke to me for less than 5 minutes, told me I was wrong about what I thought it was, completely dismissed my concerns, and after that first visit I never saw him again. I always dealt with the office manager or whoever and the doctor is conveniently not in the office on Fridays. Whatever, I have now made an emergency appointment with my asthma doctor who is giving me my first dupixent injection today. This "dermatologist" didn't even bother to send my medical records or biopsy results to my doctor, I had to call them and request it. Who knows if they even sent them. I haven't heard a word back from them. I waited over 5 months to see this guy and I'm in the same place I was. What a waste of time and energy. Avoid this entire practice (ALL OFFICES) like the PLAGUE. read more

Providers arr great, however office staff that answer phone and billing are a nightmare. I have had a billing issue caused by the office not correctly billing and no one has enough common sense to resolve this. read more

My experience with this office was so so with the doctor visit. My appointment lasted about 6 minutes and I felt rushed through, although the doctor was nice and personable. However... in the month since I've been there, I have NEVER received as much as a call back from single message left, nor can get through on the phone to anyone at any location in Virginia Beach. Often I'll end up getting forwarded to some call center (for parent company?) in the Midwest, where they seem to have zero answers. It's IMPOSSIBLE to reach front office, doctors, or billing at either First Colonial or Providence offices. Infuriating. It appears they load up office with visitors strictly to earn $$ then do zero follow up with regards to patient health and well beingI would definitely go elsewhere. read more

I enjoyed my visit here and thought the doctor was great, but I likely won't return because of my experience with the pathology department. I received a call with my biopsy results on Friday at 9:06 AM. I returned the call at 9:22 AM and was greeted by a tacky outgoing voice mail message saying it could take 24-48 hours to return the message and do not leave more than one message as it delays the process. OK, I get that, but maybe find a difference way to say it? I never got a call back on Friday. I sat all weekend wondering why pathology was calling and if I had skin cancer. I called several times on Monday before work and finally got a call from Karen who greeted me by saying that she was on the phone every time I called cause "that's what she does". Well listen, Karen. I'm so sorry to inconvenience you, but I also work and was wondering all weekend what the results were because I didn't receive a call back. She proceeded to tell me that all margins were clear and no further treatment is needed. I spent 20 mins filling out all the new patient paperwork and indicated that voice mail messages were just fine. I am also signed up on the patient portal. You could communicate this to me any other way? It was a totally unpleasant experience and really turned me off after being treated like I was an inconvenience. I'm happy it's an all clear as I couldn't imagine receiving bad news from this woman. Maybe you should refine your best practice and find a way to send the 'all clear' to patients so Karen isn't so busy and doesn't have to remind patients of it when they speak with her. read more
