Need to allow more time before survey as the initial appointment does not reflect follow up or medication rollout

I have now been to the office twice. The location is off the corner of First Colonial and Dam Neck. The parking lot was clean and there were plenty of spaces for a mid afternoon appointment. The entrance is opposite the street. The practice is on the second floor. My child's appointment was with Dr. Kristyn Beck. She is the new kid on the block and practices with two veteran physicians. She trained at EVMS under well known and respected children's dermatologist Judith Williams who is a friend. The staff was friendly upon checking-in. The waiting room is small but adequate. I found it clean and comfortable. Forms can be completed in advance by mail or you can arrive early to fill out in the waiting room. The wait time to see Dr. Beck was reasonable at around 25 minutes after paperwork was turned in. I immediately liked her bedside manner and she hit it off with my daughter quickly. She was easy to talk to and had loads of smiles to reassure my daughter. I found her to be confident and knowledgeable during the exam. An immediate diagnosis and treatment plan was achieved in no time. A prescription was then provided. Dr. Beck is young, energetic and eager to lift her practice off the ground. Most insurance plans are accepted. I'm picky and do not often write physician reviews. This was one I had to write and happy to provide 5 stars.

I had already waited six months for the appointment I had. I explained to the scheduler that I was 85% sure I have a carcinoma on my leg and the response was "May is the best I can do". I guess when Dr Harr retired the caring and consideration at this practice went with him. Very disappointed.

My husband and I were scheduled for my first appointment here today, after months of waiting. Two…read moredays ago, they texted us to say "Now your appointment is in HAMPTON. Sorry for the inconvenience. Call us to change or cancel." Awesome. So I call this office, but their scheduling department is a call service who didn't know what was going on. It is nearly impossible to get ahold of someone in the actual office. I left a message on a machine at the actual clinic, a person eventually called back but I was in a meeting at work so couldn't answer. But they left a message with their extension to dial to reach them directly. Sounds good, right? Except I called 6 times over the rest of the day (including once maybe 5 minutes after they called me) and they never answered, and the "extension" numbers don't have a voicemail. The next day the Hampton office calls and again I don't answer because I was busy, and I get another extension that no one ever answers. Nice. But they also call my husband, and he does answer! Turns out, they had screwed up their doctor's schedule and decided to reschedule all of the patients to Hampton instead of the doctor to VA Beach, I guess. If we wanted to reschedule, it would be months of wait, again. Awesome. Anyway, despite him saying "we" would like to cancel, they only canceled his appointment. I guess they thought he was using the royal "we". So I called and left a message on their clinic's answering machine that I would like to cancel... and I'm still getting text messages this morning about my appointment in Hampton. I'm realizing now that I dodged a bullet, because no doctor is good enough to justify this level of incompetence and lack of care for their patients from the front of house.

Front staff are very pleasant and you can tell they are smiling under their masks, I was so pleased with the friendliness! The parking lot has plenty of parking and the office is near other stores such as target. Cons: I left feeling like I was treated like I was the plague by the doctor I saw. I understand we are in a pandemic but this is the first time I have felt this way in the healthcare field. Although the doctor was not rude, I didn't like her bedside manner. I felt like she didn't want to get close to me and didn't really listen to what I was trying to explain. I clearly had a skin lesion she said she couldn't see. I ended up going to another dermatologist who ended up acknowledging my concern and gave me a special cream for my lesion that she could in fact see. I don't like wasting my time or money. I drove 30 minutes to see this dermatologist and wasted a copay. I have another appointment with them to see the nurse but I am debating whether to cancel that.

I am a frequent flyer, having been first diagnosed with melanoma in 2009 with multiple recurrences since, so I'm here at least every 3 months. This Chesapeake location is clean and easily accessible, though, like most specialty practices you may have a long wait to get an appointment. I highly recommend aiming for a first morning or first afternoon appt if you don't want to deal with providers running behind. The providers have always spent ample time with me to listen to my needs and complete necessary skin checks. I recently needed to change medications and Lindsey researched my options thoroughly, listened to my concerns and we made a plan of care together. They also employ 2 aestheticians for those interested in neuromodulators or custom laser face and body treatments. I am grateful to Pariser for their care!

I went back to have it redone. Again the doctor's treatment did not work, the spot returned. I was charged another $150. So $300 for absolutely no improvement. I have had these spots removed several other times--by different doctors--to good effect and with only one treatment. I called the clinic to complain and was told to speak to the clinic manager. I did speak with her and she basically told me they did not care that I'd paid $300 for ineffective treatment, the clinic would neither refund at least half what I paid, if not all, nor would they offer another treatment, this time with a different doctor, and free of charge.

Time for yet another update…read more Brief background - I've been coming here on and off since 2014 for laser hair removal, mole removals, laser skin treatments, and facials. Dr. Lopes removed some moles for me a few years ago and my results were amazing. No scars and I had one on my chin that you would literally never know was there! It was expensive - something like $100 a mole and I had 9 removed - insurance will not pay for anything here bc it's all cosmetic. I've heard all good things about her and her skills in plastic surgery. I don't know that I'll ever go there, but, good to know she's here if I do want to. I had laser hair removal here years ago with Maggie and, bc of my sensitive skin and some scars on my legs, I had to do lower power on the laser and more treatments. I paid over $4000 for the treatments and Maggie modified it for me as needed to suit my skin. I appreciated this and never forgot it. I was initially given a quote good for 6 months when discussing the laser hair removal so I could leave and think on the investment. Now, when I went back to see Rachel last year - no quotes, just her assessment in the exam room quickly, and it felt like she was just making it up off the top of her head. I didn't think that was as professional as the process in the past. I want to be given an exam and a quote sheet I can take with me so we're all on the same page. I spent about $1000-1200 on some touch-ups and some vascular issues and had an issue with a "follow-up" that I was charged for when I was under the impression it was included in my price since I was being brought in to review the results. No quotes given either - you have to remember and hope she remembered what she said it would be. What? After Maggie retired they did bring in another esthetician for a while also but she's no longer there and my future appointments were cancelled. I believe they have not replaced her and no longer offer facials bc no one has ever called to reschedule and this was over 6 months ago. She was also shady about prices and there were no prices listed the first few times I went and she kept "offering" other things to do or recommended I "needed" but you had no idea what it would cost and some of those things were $90-150 each! If I had said yes to everything - I'd have easily spent $450. Shady. Rain, the office manager, is kind and worked with me to resolve the issue I had with the follow-up mentioned above. The front desk staff are sweet. I just don't appreciate when we're talking about this kind of money, feeling like the prices aren't set - they're made up on the spot. Something about that rubs me entirely the wrong way and makes me pause on coming here for anymore laser follow-up and treatments.
