What GREAT customer service. We wanted crabs originally but they are not in season until April so we ended up getting practically everything else. Rockfish ( local to Rock Hall), scallops, oysters, and Chandra's famous crab cakes. Got the hook up with seasoning, butter, and lemons. All the goodies to make our trip absolutely wonderful. The dining area is large. The area is clean. Smells great. Well lit. Love the sign behind the counter " we are at McDonald's so if you want your food in 5 minutes you might want to go somewhere else!". Total cost around $79.00. Definitely full service and accommodating. Highly recommend.

Lobster tail stuffed with crab imperial!

Great staff, relaxed atmosphere, fantastic food, reasonable prices. When you travel, you always want to find a place where the locals eat. This is it!

The food here was PHENOMENAL! We were a group of 6 who dined in. Our waitress Tammy was one of the sweetest people I have ever met. She was attentive, friendly, and gave great recommendations. We ordered a dozen crabs, fried pickles, steamed clams, crab wrap, Chesapeake wrap, fish taco, and an open face Turkey sandwich and everyone was in heaven with the food. Truly such amazing food. The ambiance was truly a Maryland crab shack which only made it better.

I finally stumbled upon Fords Seafood for BREAKFAST! Who knew, a crab place for breakfast? Apparently I'm the only one who didn't know as the parking lot was full (new to the area with my boat at a local marina). After not knowing what's going on with Muskrat Alley (love the place but the last four times I stopped by it was closed) and showing up to another breakfast place that was "supposed" to be open and wasn't I found Fords. The staff is great. Friendly, helpful and efficient. Coffee and food was great too. My new breakfast place!

Drove 2 hours to Rock Hall to get the vaccine for my mom and we were both starving after getting it. Luckily this fine establishment was here to fill me up. We ordered the regular burger with crab dip on it (was the Thursday special), chicken sandwich, and crab balls. My burger was pretty good, the meat was cooked medium as I directed and tasted great, and with the crab dip, the flavors were confusing my mouth in a good way. My mom said the chicken sandwich was good (her chicken was juicy and tender). I had the crab balls the next day and they were amazing (5/5). Extremely flavorful and savory. We'll have to come back for dose 2 so I can't wait to get a crab cake from here later.

It's definitely a casual restaurant whose charm is that it is more local than tourist focused.... If you want atmosphere, get takeout and go sit on the beach, or under the gazebo! The food is reliable, the shrimp salad is yummy. Personally, we always get lump crab to make crab cakes, a bushel of steamed crabs to eat while we're there and 2 quarts of the Cream of Crab soup cold to go to enjoy the day we get home. It let's our Rock Hall vibe stretch out a little longer! Ps... This weekend's #1s were huge and heavy!

While visiting our friends in Maryland, we decided to grab dinner in Rock Hall. Our friends love going to Ford's for crabs and wanted us to check it out. Hmmmm.... You know those places that are considered hole in the walls? And you just know the food is delicious?? Welcome to Ford's!!! No kidding. First off.... My husband gets very antsy when eating at new places. And usually will get a burger. Because how can ya mess up a burger, right? The girls Sarah and Kathleen, were so kind and patient. Great gals. Our friends ordered the crabs. Husband ordered a mushroom burger with Swiss. I ordered the Chesapeake Wrap. And had an order of the Chesapeake Fries. Crabs looks delish!!! Big guys!! The burger??!!!! PERFECT. The fries? Awesome!! My wrap?! Holy crap. It was good. Man oh man. If you want to have a hometown feeling with great service, this is the place. Nothing fancy. Felt like it could be your "go to" place.

I eat crabs with lemon, real butter, and malt vinegar this is my summertime classic

All of it was prepared perfectly, came out quickly, and was sized perfectly. For dessert we shared the hot apple tart which is served with creamy cinnamon ice cream. Yum! We stop by to see what the price were, but Cranky Crab is a very small operation so we felt obliged to order. They definitely weren't as cheap, but the proprietor, "Biscuit" explained that was probably the price for the smaller crabs. The ones here were 7 or 8 inches across (#1s or extra large and very meaty males). We decide to get only a dozen and it took about 20 mins to get them steamed. While we were waiting, my 8 yo asks if he could see the equipment to which Biscuit obliges. He even gives my son a little popsicle from the freezer, which was much appreciated on a hot 90F summer day. He's a grandpa, so maybe that's why he's good with kids. With a nickname like Biscuit and a clean crew cut, I thought for sure he was in the military, but he is/was a firefighter and adopted his the nickname in honor of his dad. Overall, I'm glad we stopped by. The prices might be a bit big for some people, but so are the crabs. Stretch your dollar and save all the crab shells, bits and pieces to make a crab stock. Then use that for your next soup or stew.

We had just come from a college football game and, on the fly, decided to grab dinner here based on the recommendation of the one local in our group. There were seven of us, and most went for the double smash burgers with fries, which were excellent. Kim, our server, was outstanding, prompt, accurate, and attentive throughout the evening. The bartender also added to the positive side of the experience, making sure everything at the table ran smoothly. The issue came at the door. We had tried to call ahead to let them know we were on the way, not realizing that OpenTable was their preferred system. When we arrived, the host made this clear, but in a way that was unnecessarily sharp and cold. It set the wrong tone for the night. In a town where friendliness is the norm, the contrast was striking. The experience began under a haze that was difficult to shake, even though the food and drinks were excellent once we sat down. To be constructive, this is less about policy and more about hospitality. A host sets the tone, and a welcoming explanation could have changed everything. Something as simple as, "We usually use OpenTable to handle groups this size, but I'm glad you're here, let's get you taken care of," would have gone a long way. Instead of frustration, it could have created a positive first impression and likely earned a loyal group of returning guests for years to come. Inside, the atmosphere was lively, with locals enjoying themselves in a loud and fun environment. Our group of longtime friends who have been convening in Chestertown for two decades fit right in once we were seated. However, the bad first impression lingered, and as a result we only had one round with food before deciding to leave a lot earlier than our normal rhythm for an evening out. We ended up taking our bar bill to another venue. Great food and excellent table service carried the night, but the host made sure we will not be returning as part of our annual tradition. This is a restaurant with strong potential, and it could go from good to exceptional with just a little more attention to how guests are greeted.
