This is a foundation kind of cuny so you'll be running into everyone you know and pass with flying colors if you just show up. The police is always at the station which confirms with me that the area isn't the safest as it is in the south Bronx. With my final semester coming up for before I completed my Masters I was forced to take my last two classes at the Englewood Cliffs campus. Upon arriving to campus I was blown away by what it actually was. If you're a working adult who is continuing their education in the evening I'm sure you're looking for a school where everything is located on one floor. A place where if you need to see the advisor, dean, library, student lounge, and classroom are all within 5ft of each other. SPU is the place to go but only at the Englewood Cliffs campus. On one floor is all of these and much more. When I come to class a few minutes early I am able to heat up my dinner with the awesome microwave the student lounge provides, grab some snacks from the vending machine, or make a cup of coffee from the Keurig machine! Let's not forget about the most important part. The parking! This campus provides a parking lot that does not need a permit. The parking lot is not located across the campus but instead right outside the building where all of your classes are. I highly recommend attending the Englewood Cliffs campus if you are in any program. It is worth the drive and extremely convenient for the students.

When I went to this school back in the early 2000s, the education was good and the professors were professional and on point with everything. I can't speak for how anything is now however. I can say this however with certainty (as this has not changed even since I was there), and that is that the environment will make or break an experience. The environment has a big hip hop vibe to it, and most of the students here (even to this day) are Dominican. If this doesn't fit you, you might not like it here. So be advised. If you don't care, then you'll probably feel fine here. Other than that, there's not much to say about this place.

Butler Library and Avery Architectural Fine Arts Library have beautiful interiors that are ideal look for a historic college library, as well as the modern style of Engineering Library. Among them, I like Lehman Social Sciences Library the most, though I rarely take SIPA courses, there is a microwave on the sixth floor of the building to heat meals, and small self-study rooms, which is very suitable for spending a whole day reviewing for exams and writing the thesis. One of the great things about the Columbia Library is that you can find almost every kind of study space here. Study on the second-floor mezzanine, study in the quaint rooms with low light, study in the small rooms like telephone booths, study on the edge of the numerous bookshelves... They have desks in almost every corner of the library, and you can always find a study atmosphere that attracts you.

Dorms look very ugly and old. Anyways, you can see stars at night when you look up on a normal night without any storm. Lots of nice greenery all around you like you're not in New York City. There's also a lot of fireflies in the bushes and grass at night. The food in the kitchen is really good. Their lunch trays are navy when I used to go there and is big enough to hold a lot of food. I came here for a business camp back when I was in high school and their facilities were really spacious to accommodate us.
