Since my last review on For Senior's Sake, I filed a complaint with the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services. I was concerned that Laura Cirves had violated my mother's rights. It appears that a similar situation occurred with another resident of For Senior's Sake. I would encourage that person to call and register a complaint at 1-800-562-6078. This is the only way to call a halt to Laura's bullying tactics with her clients and the families of clients. After an investigation by the Aging and Disability Services, Laura was issued 4 citations. 1. Failed practice in the area of care planning. 2. Failure to provide proper notification of changes to services. 3. Failure to provide proper notification to change in fees. 4. Discharging a client without proper cause. Laura was also required to refund a larger amount than she had initially sent to us from the month's rent that we had paid in advance. Unless people follow through in reporting issues like this one with For Senior's Sake, our seniors will continue to get taken advantage of like Laura Cirves tried to do with our mother. read more

It's important to set the record straight, as my family's experience was markedly different than the negative reviews. During my father's time at For Seniors' Sake before his passing, he was surrounded by loving care, smiles, infinite patience, and kindness. Our family dropped in frequently, and we always happened upon a conscientious, caring, and committed staff. Laura sets a cheerful tone for her house, with superbly clean, pleasant surroundings (fresh flowers, home-y decorations, etc.) . She even makes the meals herself, none of that industrial food. She's extremely conscientious about the complex state regulations, and keeps patient logs that we could track online. Laura patiently spoke with us at all hours in a compassionate, respectful manner--it felt as if we were collaborators in providing dad with the best care possible. In his final days, only Laura could bring a smile to his face, and that says everything. On a practical note, Laura was prompt and responsive when issuing a substantial refund check. The care dad received at For Seniors' Sake brought comfort to our family, knowing he was in such good hands. We feel fortunate to have had such a good experience during such a difficult time. read more

My experience with For Senior's Sake was not good. Laura Cirves' behavior was erratic in the time my mother was a resident in her care facility. My mother's care needs were not assessed when she moved in which delayed her care plan; on at least one occasion, a family member was asked to assist in a transfer so my mother could get in bed; Ms. Cirves was rude and defensive when I attempted to discuss my mother's care with her, and finally, Ms. Cirves demanded that my mother move out. I collected my mother's belongings, including all her medications, and later discovered that Ms. Cirves had mixed another resident's medications in with my mother's. To the credit of the staff, my mother was given good care overall and sheltered from the most egregious of Ms. Cirves' outbursts. The experience was extremely stressful for me and my family, and in retrospect makes me sad not only for my own family but also for others who have been hurt by Ms. Cirves. For a health care professional to treat vulnerable seniors and their families with such callous disregard is unconscionable. read more

Laura and her Staff were very caring during my father in law's stay at For Senior's Sake. When a loved one needs assisted living services it is never fun, but Laura took a real interest in making sure that my father in law had the best quality of life he could have. If you truly care about your loved one you would not put them under the care of this provider. There has been many people forced to leave suddenly and were left broken hearted due to sudden eviction without the proper, legal reasons. As a past employee I have seen a lot of unsettling things here. I have kept close relationships with family members who's loved ones have gone through the same situation as the previous review writer. This type of business is more then making a dollar. It is a hands on duty to provide the best possible care for human beings, somebody's parent and grandparent. There are plenty of homes out there who strive to put nothing but love and effort into providing the best possible care for these fragile folks. Unfortunately, For Seniors Sake puts all their efforts into making money. read more

My mother has been a resident at For Senior's Sake, a small-group senior living facility owned by Laura Cirves R.N. for eight years--since 2009. Therefore, I believe myself qualified to speak with authority about the quality of care which For Senior's Sake offers. My mother was 99 years old when I moved her to For Senior's Sake. At that time, she was living in a large "life care" facility, into which she had paid a substantial entry fee. However, the care she was receiving was impersonal. Finally on the advice of her physician, I used a placement consultant to find a smaller, more congenial and home-like setting for my mother's last years. Anytime necessity forces you to move a beloved relative into a nursing home of any sort, the following days are stressful for the patient and the family. However, I can say without any doubt that my mother, who as of this writing is 107 years old, has had a better life these past eight years living at For Senior's Sake than she would have experienced had she remained in the "life care" facility. For Senior's Sake operates three small-group homes, which are modified residential houses. My mother has always had a private room, which is decorated with her own pictures and possessions. Residents can take planned day outings, which, when she was able, my mother enjoyed, particularly one to the Tulip Festival. Even as she grew weaker, she was able to enjoy sitting outside. All residents have easy access to outdoor gardens, which are planted with flowers, and lunch is sometimes served outside in the summer time. The houses are immaculately clean; there is no smell of any sort. The attendants are friendly, capable people, well-trained by Laura Cirves in transfers, etc. My mother does not feed herself any longer, and the attendants are very patient with her as they feed her. She recognizes her attendants and smiles at them when they come to her bedside. For Senior's Sake employs a nurse practitioner, certified in geriatrics, who acts as medical director and who visits regularly. Computerized records available to the family show the care plan, current medications, and detailed daily chart notes. In my experience, the owner, Laura Cirves R.N. has always responded quickly and courteously to my phone calls and e-mails. Family members can visit at any time and I have arrived myself, unannounced on occasion, and always found the houses fully staffed and my mother comfortable and well cared for. read more

I live in the neighborhood of For Seniors Sake and I have witnessed the most compassionate care from Laura and her staff. I've never seen anyone who does so much so selflessly as Laura does. She truly loves her residents. She is deeply concerned about their healthful environment and clean surroundings. I have been walking by her yard and heard her serving her residents on the patio. I've seen her when she came to give hair permanents to those who could not get them done any other way. Laura is passionate about giving back to seniors. She makes sure her yard is immaculate and the garden is a joy to behold. Whatever Rita and Ken or whoever were doing, it was likely their own problem that they tried to make someone else's. Excellent! I need to tell everyone who will listen, and needs elder care about For Senior's Sake! The two biggest worries in my life were daycare for my children, and elder care for my folks. My mom needed 24 hour care for the past many years. Blind, MS, and in a wheelchair, she refused to leave her home. Fueled with the 46 year old baby brother who was living with her rent, uliities, and food free, she would never move out. I feared for her health and safety daily. We arranged two care givers to care for mom twice a day and things were going well. Then Mom got phemonia and thank god, knew she could not return home. The search began for a place. My older brother and I can honestly say, we looked as every assisted living situation from Mill Creek to the Mountlake Cut. Many were great for us, but not for Mom. After weeks of looking, we found a reat place we thought would be perfect for Mom. Brookdale of Northgate, but upon their evaluation of Mom, they concluded she would need Memory care, or more care than they were able to provide. Heartbroken the search began again. After many weeks, many caregivers told us we should look at adult family homes. A friend recommended For Senior Sake. their Father lived there. We went to check it out and knew instantly this was the place for Mom. Heck, we wanted to live there! Mom spent her life raising 7 children and 21 grandchildren. Dinners lasted 2 hours each night as that was "family time". The family atmosphere of For Senior Sake was reminiscent of those times. The timing and discovery was orchestrated from above. Mom moved in and immediately bonded with the other 5 residents, caregivers and Laura. Our family did too. Mom thrived. She loved the activities, field trips, food, and the love bestowed upon her daily. Laura and her staff work hard providing quality healthcare and a superior quality of life for the residents. After the first week, Mom told me she couldn't imagine living anywhere else, and said she finally felt safe for the first time in years. I work at NWH in the UW system, and can honestly say I felt the care Mom received at For Senior Sake was superior to that of the hospital. Laura Civers the owner is a RN and Dietician. There is a house physician, online checking for how your family member is doing, and two full time day care providers, one evening and one night. After Mom passed, two of my friends told me their folks had lived in one of the three For Senior Sake Adult Family homes and had similar exceptional experiences. It has been almost three months since Mom passed, and I still stop by to see the residents and workers to say hello. I can honestly say I miss them. We think of them as family. Sometimes the only reviews that people take the time to write are because they have a problem. Please know this is a wonderful place for your loved one. I am not sure why these people are not happy with For Senior's Sake and Laura. I absolutely love this place and love Laura and the care my Mother is receiving at this assisted living facility. I have four brothers and they feel the same way. Two of those brothers are there everyday or two to three times a week and they have never complained about the care our mother is receiving. I visited many adult assisted living facilities. None came close to the feeling I had after visiting For Senior's Sake and talking with Laura. Our Mother is very happy and content there. That was what I was looking for. The times I have been to visit my Mother I have noticed the respect, love and care the other women in the home were receiving. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a caring and loving environment for there loved ones.
