But they could use an upgrade to the seats, they're getting a bit outdated. I still highly recommend catching a show here and as many as you can in the city as it's a city of artists, musicians, actors, painters, you name it everyone comes to LA to break into some industry. A lot of local parking spots and good food spots. Personally, I wish they cleaned up the Blvd cause on a bad day it can still look as ugly as the 90's. But it's improving and getting slowly better. Make sure to check out a show here and when you walk into the lobby be sure to look up and all around!!! Exquisite!

From the large exterior marquee to the stunning Art Deco design, this theatre has drama engraved in it's bones! -The primary theatre for most major national tours going through LA. -Both lottery and rush tickets are typically available. -Easy to get to from most areas of LA. From the Valley (NoHo) to DTLA you can catch the red line and get off right across the street from the Theatre making it really feel like a true "Broadway in Hollywood" experience. -The Mini Package is a game changer! Negatives: -Orchestra rows A-N are essentially flat and not very well staggered so your view will be most likely be partially obstructed by the people directly in front of you if their an average height adult. Around row P is where it starts to rake. -There is a 20% processing fee for any online ticket purchases.

The "Cinderella" of venues, it takes the grand, outdoor setting of the Bowl (concrete Jerusalem gates carved into the Hollywood hills) and the intimacy of a backyard party. With 1200 seats (opposed to 17500), you're always under 100 feet from the stage. The seats being steeply raked means you are closer to the stage than the Greek. (The Theater, I mean, not loud, hairy Niko guy next to you). And being tucked into a natural canyon makes the acoustics extra crispy, which made Erasure (10 years ago today) one of my favorite concerts. Side note: I found the 3 tickets on ebay for 99 cents, something that pissed off the guy next to me who paid $200. He Loved to Hate Me. He called me "Biggie Fries" all night, referencing Wendy's Value Meal. Built in 1920 by Christine Wetherill Stevenson, a wealthy heiress who wanted to build a space for her play about he life of Christ "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Calvary". No, it was "Pilgrimage Play" It burnt down in 1929 but rebuilt in 1931 to look like stone, making it feel like an ancient, rediscovered space. Anyway, it only hosted Christ plays (I would have called it "Nailed iT!") until the 1964 separation of church and state opened the venue to all arts. It was named after the county supervisor John Anson Ford, who was a champion of the arts. In the late 80's it was the "West Coast CBGB", hosting Ramones, Social D, X, Chili Peppers and Jane's Addiction. If you need more bands, just use your first three Wordle guesses: Tacos Marry Happy opened for Radio Caulk Barfy. It unveiled a $80 million renovation in 2017, so if it was gorgeous in 2006, I am sure it is Gorgeouser now. In 2019, the LA Phil took over, so now it is the little sister of the Bowl and Disney Concert Hall. In 2020, it had its centennial, marking 100 years since Stevenson first staged a Christ play in that canyon. To celebrate, the partygoers turned wine into pee.

Once you're inside you get a sense of feeling you stepped into a new world.. the atmosphere and energy of bustling busy bartenders, laughters from every corner with magicians putting on a show... people dressed up and enjoying the night. You'll stumble into areas with people in lines for the next big show.. which goes by fairly quickly. There was so much to take in and explore.. you can't help but look at all the cool art and cartoon drawings on the walls. I had a couple of their mystical or mysterious margaritas, and they were amazing which were made with blood orange. I love the many selections of spirits. We had dinner reservations at 9:30pm. I ordered the Wagyu flat-iron steak that comes with mashed potatoes and green beans. When I tell you that Wagyu steak was so tender and delicious. I would definitely get that again if I'm invited back! So please someone get me in there haha. We went to the last big show at 11:30pm.. which was 45 mins. It went by too fast... an amazing show honoring the late Harry Houdini. Overall experience, food, show, and staff.. I give it a 10/10.

The theater is small, but intimate, and there is parking along the streets! I'd suggest lining up 20-30 before showtime for the best seats. The sound is good (not too loud, like at some venues), and the shows are always a hoot! Come by for a show for a laugh, a cry, or all the above! Great place I'll fine myself again time after time!

Once I was healed, I registered for a class, and the class was where I learned the hard way this isn't something I can do. I have a learning disability (diagnosed when I was young) and between that and some OCD, when I went to class I was focusing as much as I could on everything the man teaching it had to say, but because of my issues and trying to keep up with it I eventually started feeling light headed and dizzy, which can happen to me in circumstances like this. I did the best I could to absorb as much info as I could but it moved too fast for me to, and consequentially I flubbed the proceeding group exercises badly and it was clear the rest of the class was on the same page and because of my issues I was not and I could bring them down a bit. So I knew pretty quickly that this wasn't a good idea and I wouldn't be able to fully excel in it, and then I emailed the admin email for UCB explaining this and seeing about a possible partial refund and they left it on read without responding which means they'll keep my $525 because they can. I already know what their first response to this will be- that terms were made clear in the beginning there are no refunds so I admit that I am acting like I should be an exception here (maybe, maybe not) but I just want this to reach some people thinking of enrolling to know that if things don't work out for some reason, you will indeed walk away without getting your money back so keep that in mind.

Last…read moreFriday, I decided to surprise my husband to David Minkin's magic show as a birthday gift, and man the show did not disappoint! From start to finish, my husband and I had our jaws on the floor. The magic show was intimate (around 40 people or so in the room), original, and absolutely mind blowing! We could not believe our eyes. For the entirety of the show, it seems as if our vocabulary was limited to "WOW!!!!" "HOW?!?!" and "NO WAYY!!!!" We simply did not have the words to express our amazement. We were seated on the second row, and I recall forcing myself to keep my eyes open and not blink just to see if I can catch him, but to no avail. The magic that David performs is truly next level. They're so original and creative and completely unpredictable! You simply cannot anticipate the outcome of each trick. You THINK you know what he'll do with a deck of cards, or a marble, or even a packet of sugar, but in reality, you never know. The entire performance was 5-STAR all around. Highly recommended! We were even treated with fireworks from Disneyland during intermission! Thank you, David and your staff for making my husband's birthday so memorable!

This was our second time seeing him DJ, and we already can't wait to grab tickets to the next event! Sound is a great venue--decent-sized dance floor, good energy, and reasonably priced drinks. Shoutout to our bartender, too! She was incredibly sweet and took great care of us. And man... those drinks were STRONG! Definitely got our money's worth there! Security also deserves a shoutout. They were very much on the ball, which, as someone who works in the industry, I really appreciate. It makes a huge difference when you can enjoy yourself knowing security is paying attention and doing their job. Overall, 10/10 night. Great music, great atmosphere, strong drinks, and a solid venue. Going into the venue was also easy and felt safe in that area compared to the main street. Among walking in is a bar, restroom and merch table. Drinks are hella expensive. Venue is pretty small but intimate and you can see the artist well. There are tables on the right side and railing on the left for you to stand.
