Foothills Tree Experts of Fort Collins, CO came out to prune and/or remove seven large trees on our 8-acre property off Bingham Hill Road on March 12, 2025. They had the job completed in less than four hours, including clean up. It was impressive to watch how organized and efficient they were. We particularly appreciated that any time there was the slightest question about what we needed done, they made sure to ask before proceeding another step. Many of the trees were located at the periphery of our inner yard area which is surrounded by wooden rail fencing and they took particular care to ensure no damage was done to the wooden rail, the flower beds or grass. After agreeing on the original estimate and start date, I contacted Kevin later to add a couple of trees which he did without hesitation for a bargain price. I don't know most of their names as there were probably ten or more working under Kevin's direction and all, to the man or woman, friendly, especially Daniel, who loves animals and even "hugged" our 2,000 lb pet Angus steer, Bosco. We called during a storm to have a fallen tree taken off our roof and they said it was peak emergency pricing, but if we called back in 2 days it'd be cheaper, so we did. They then refused to honor what they said and charged us peak pricing after the fact. No matter that 4 people heard them say it'd be lesser if we called back. It was predatory and dishonest. I would proceed with caution with this company, they are unethical. At the least get your quote in writing. read more

To begin Brent was very professional estimator, his quote was very detailed. Over the internet the estimate gave me the options to accept. I did accept the estimate, he said work schedule was 3 or 4 days out. I received a call to see if I would like the work done on Monday as the crew finished another job early. It worked out fine. Chad, Vice President, came out to my home, and evaluated my tree that was stressed from the drought. He gave me a positive diagnosis, and recommended an aggressive a treatment with prescribed follow ups. Chad's like a country doctor, one that still makes house calls. My beautiful giant sequoia is on the road to recovery. I also wanted a couple of trees trimmed, that were threatening my roof. Again, a scheduled visit by a crew from Foothill Tree Service. Also, more advice about what limbs and branches to cut back, and which to leave. All very helpful!!! Bill, a friendly, talented, and hard working tree savvy guy showed up with a hard working crew. They worked with me to remove all the limbs and branches I pointed out. They were all very careful and conscientious, making sure there was no collateral damage---not an easy task, I might add. I had a large ponderosa pine die suddenly on our property, and asked our neighbor, a long-time area rancher, who to call. He recommended Foothill. Wes came over to diagnose the problem with the tree, and confirmed that it had to be removed. Later, he sent over a professional quote, at a fair price, to do the work. There is an online link in the quote to accept the proposal, if you want to move forward. The crew came out the same day, and removed the tree. They worked quickly and safely, and completed the whole job within a couple of hours. They cleaned up the area and the next morning another crew came with the chipper to get rid of the limbs and pine needles. Everyone that I came into contact with was friendly, and professional. Ok, well we had them out again and again. However that was our fault, as our insurance wanted us to get a number of trees cut, and we were being stubborn about some of the trees and bushes that they wanted eliminated. They gave us a repeat! customer discount, and Jorge was the supervisor and he and his crew did a great job. They were efficient and quick, took care not to disturb our watering system or damage plants we wanted to keep. The prices were reasonable, and we got the jobs scheduled quickly. Luckily our insurance told us that they are happy with our fire safe measures, so we don't' have to call Foothill out again! :-) While we would definitely use them again, I certainly hope we don't have to. read more

I hate to knock a local business.... Went with them because my dad always had good luck. My complaint is the mess that was left in my front yard, as well as damage to plants. I LOVE THESE PEOPLE! For starters let me say that I did not hire them, but after interacting with them I would never hire a different company. After a long weekend of camping I was driving down from Hell Hole Reservoir on the only road out of the area. Unfortunately, work was being done on the road but was not clearly indicated (seriously it was very unclear), nor was the work showing up on google maps or any other GPS navigation app. We (my fiance, dog and myself) found ourselves 3 miles from our destination with 1/8 a tank of gas and no option other than to turn around and drive all the way back up the hill to French Meadows and come back down the mountain the other way. Lets just say we did NOT have the gas to do that. Thankfully we ran into several members of this company who found themselves facing the same issue. After a quick discussion the team quickly came to a very fortunate decision; my truck and theirs would turn around and drive back up the hill (about 10 miles) to where other members of their team were waiting, and they would give us gas that they had for their tools and equipment. After giving us 5 gallons of gas they refused what money we had on us. Brent and his team then happily sent my family on its way back up, then down, the mountain. We made it to Foresthill (the first town with gas) with barely any to spare. Without this wonderful company, and their fantastically kind and compassionate employees, we would never had made it home safely. We would have been stranded in the woods, with no cell service or reception because of poorly marked under construction roads (an no notification to google that work was being done). If I ever EVER ever need a tree service, this is who I will call. They are fantastic people, and a company made up of fantastic people is a company I want to spend my money at. I have a large silver maple in my backyard that had never been professionally trimmed. I got three estimates and I picked foothill tree service because the price was in the middle range. they followed up on their estimate with phone calls, but didn't harass me. Miguel + 1 Showed up on time and after lunch one more worker showed up. After pruning the tree they did remove all of the debris and cleaned up after themselves nicely. I would have only given them 4 1/2 stars but didn't know how to do a half star. My only reservation was that I thought the arborist would be on site but he wasn't. I was given a verbal quote to down a few pine trees that was double the competition. Then I never received a quote in writing after being told that I would receive one that evening. Also during the consult I was told they would have to take down limbs from other healthy trees to fit their truck in. After that I was told that they would charge extra to move the good limbs to our wood shed and spray the chips from their chipper all over the hillside because it would be extra to remove them. Another company never had to touch my good trees, placed all the firewood in the shed and didn't leave any bad wood or messy chips behind. Any company that wants double the price and half the work is an auto pass for me. read more

Foothill Tree Service provides outstanding service and because of this, we just employed them a third time for serious work with oak trees on our residential property. The most recent project involved the removal of a very old and tall oak tree that might have fallen and caused severe damage to the roof. At this time they also removed dead and potentially dangerous limbs from two other trees next to the house and over the roof area. Previous projects involved similar tasks including dead wood thinning, removal of mistletoe and the trimming of branches to help relieve the stress on older trees affected by the drought or decay. With any tree removal, the crew cuts the trunk and larger limbs into manageable 16 or 18 inch size logs. The smaller limbs and branches are chipped and placed at a location of our request. Previous to any work done, a Certified Arborist comes out to the property to evaluate every aspect involved with the project and to assess the cost of the project. We are very impressed not only with the knowledge of their Certified Arborists but also with that of their excellent tree crews. They are prompt, hard-working, efficient, thorough, absolutely responsible and very congenial. Their tree climbing Specialists are amazing at what tasks they can perform as well as those done by the rest of the supporting crew. I have been working with Foothill Tree Service for years and they are wonderful. They accidentally broke a sprinkler pipe when planting a new tree where an old tree had been. It really was not their fault because there many tree roots all around the broken pipe from the previous tree. The pipe sprung another leak and they were out quickly to fix it. Wes and Luke did a great job. They even emailed me some pictures of the fixed pipe so I know where to look if the old pipe springs a leak again. Had an opportunity to hire FTS to remove several trees in our back yard, one of which was a very tall fir tree damaged and compromised in a recent wind storm which posed a very definite threat to many of our neighbors. While putting everyone's safety above all, Abel and his crew did an incredible job bringing down that monstrosity. I hired these guys to advise me about a tree I thought might be dead . They treated the tree with a poured in solution around the base and I was told to water it in until the rainy season started . It now turns out ( 3 months after treatment ) that the tree is dead and will need to be removed . The tree is a 35" diameter cedar well over 100' tall , and I will be sad to see it go . PG&E will remove it due to the danger towards their power lines . I am very annoyed that FTS did not just tell me the tree was dead and I would not have wasted my money ( $408.00 ) on an unneeded treatment . read more
