Dan Hovarteer is a liar and has a terrible temper! I live at the airpark and we had to have ALL the trees trimmed down!We went around the whole house and I said all the trees that had to be trimmed or removed! He gave me an $5100 estimate! Didn't give me a written estimate but I figured our verbal was good he emailed it the day before he was scheduled leaving at six trees he was supposed to trim and the dead ones by the front door cut down and then said well he would do it for another thousand dollars! None of the trees are even whatsoever and he totally tore up the backyard broke my Dads gate I wouldn't recommend him! Everything that went wrong he blamed on everybody else yelling at me!I can't believe I went through hell watching him destroy the property! He tore up my tomato plants! Didn't care about the property at all! There's an oak tree blocking the solar that we talked about that needed trimming! He didn't touch it! It was going to be another $1000 to finish the job! His wife said the guys would come and finish but it never happened! Karma is going to have a field day with you Dan! He seemed so concerned about my Dad with dementia just to get the job! Last week during the height of the California rain and high wind storms Daniel and his incredible team literally came to our rescue when a huge redwood tree fell on our home and 3 other trees were threatening to fall. Our water treatment plant, Cody Water Association in strawberry California have been severely damaged by the Caldor fire. Dan service was very responsive and was able to accommodate us in a very short schedule and Comply with all the regulations and restrictions found when you're dealing with Forest Service property. Even though the schedule he committed to was very tight he was actually able to complete the job ahead of Schedule and did a fantastic job of restoring the forest to a natural looking as possible under the conditions of being a burned forest. After the recent winter storm the end this February 2026, I had a lot of seriously storm damaged VERY LARGE black oak, canyon oak, cedar, and pine trees, some threatening to fall on power drop lines. Dan came out for an estimate within hours on the day I contacted him. Dan's extraordinary 5 man crew was on this large job that involved some serious technical climbing and a lot of debris cleanup only 3 days later. We used Daniel Hovarter Tree Service about three weeks ago. Daniel was very friendly and professIonal showing up on time for the initial meeting and promptly provided a reasonable quote. His crew showed up on time and started working, not stopping until they were finished. A couple of trees were removed and other trees were trimmed, thinned out and dead branches removed. What a team! They came in at 7:30 by 11 am the 40 ft rotting blue oak was gone. Chipped, cut into firewood, clean. It was tricky with a just 10 ft away, a garden shed and bushes that wrapped half way around the tree, we wanted saved. No damage anywhere!!! Price competitive. Watching them work was amazing.
