Yikes. I just moved to the area, and have been looking for a place like the one I used to go to (K K Massage in Riverside), I love the convenience, price, and services at little foot reflexology places that seem to be everywhere lately. My expectations aren't very high in terms of the quality of the massage. All I hope for is to relax and peace out for an hour. But that was impossible at this place. My masseuse was so fast and rough that I left hurting. It seemed like he might have been not paying attention to what he was doing and seemed distracted. There was nothing relaxing about this service. During the massage, another of the staff went into the bathroom and soon the whole place smelled. I know it's sometimes unavoidable, but it was still really gross. Soon after, another of the staff started microwaving his lunch - which was in the same room as the massages - started eating, and burped loudly. The whole time - the bad massage, the bodily functions - I was just trying to bear it so I could hurry up and get out of there. I went to pay and was asked, "Would you like to pay for your tip with your credit card or with cash?" I was a little taken aback at the presumption, but said, "Credit card." I figured even the worst experience deserves a 10% tip, right? When I told him 10%, he laughed and asked me for 20%. I said no, that it hadn't been a good massage and then he asked again for a dollar more than I'd given him. It was bizarre and uncomfortable. I've never been asked for a bigger tip. I really wanted to like this place, as a friend recommended it to me. Seems like there are a lot of good reviews, so maybe I just got a bad masseuse. But wouldn't want to take the chance of having the same experience there again. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE!! So glad I stumbled across it. I went through a period where I was looking for a good massage place near me and I had some rough experiences. The folks at Sunshine Massage treat you very well, they're polite, the massages are ok and very inexpensive. Normally when the prices are cheap, the workers demand a HUGE tip. Not the case here at all. I'm a semi-regular and I tell all my friends about it. It's a great little hidden gem. UPDATE*** January 2017 This place sucks now. The massages are OK, nothing spectacular. If you've got knots or need them to focus on a particular spot, they don't do that. They've got their set routines and that's what you get. The two good points about this place are; its location isn't far (from me), and the prices are pretty cheap. But now they're way too busy and haven't expanded in any way to deal with the increase. I used to pop in and maybe had to wait twenty minutes before getting seated. Today was the third time in a row that they've turned me away and I'm just done driving over to just drive back. I stopped by at 7pm, three hours left in their day and I saw two other people waiting and they turned me way without apology. Apparently every single chair was spoken for the following three hours. They didn't even ask what I wanted, I could have been there for a quicky 20 minute massage. I guess it didn't matter. I don't know how many people might have gone there based on my review, but I thought I would update it to be honest about how this place has changed. Let's start off with I WOULDVE given them a 4 star but the last minute I was in there, they ruined it and I'll never go back. Poor attitude. So I get there w my parents and we were seated promptly. Only waited about two mins. Then we each get our massage only my guy kept leaving me at my chair so he can answer the phone or make a call or to go to the restroom. So I was cut short on my time. The place needs someone to strictly answer calls. The massage itself was great. Just the right amount of pressure. So we get up to leave and I paid the guy $60. $20 per person. And I give him a $3 tip. Which I thought he shouldn't have gotten one for cutting my time by doing his calls and restroom breaks but fine I still gave him $3. So as we are leaving, he asks where the rest of THEIR tip was. So I thought okay the two girls that attended my parents should get SOMETHING. so I look into my wallet and I only have $4 cash on me. I hate carrying cash. So I give them that and the guy starts getting loud asking where's the rest. SO RUDE!!! then the girls ask "only $2 each?" (From the $4 I had just given) so I tell her I did give the guy $3 even though he wasn't 100% attentive to me and then I ask if there's a problem and they just give us a dirty look and start speaking in their language. I refused to entertain the situation anymore so I just left. Very rude of them to ask for more. Tips aren't even mandatory. Many states don't even allow tops but here this place demanded more?? Um no! they are lucky I didn't take back the tip I already gave them. Never again. Guess I'll b making the drive to my usual spot on San Gabriel. So much for trying a new spot just for trying to keep it local. read more

I'm beyond behind on writing reviews; but after reading multiple reviews regarding this and similar Chinese foot spa places, I felt that it was imperative (self-determined, of course) that I write a semi-long-winded and ramble-y review as soon as possible about Foot Spa and Chinese foot spas in general. I had a hard time trying to figure out how to organize this review, but this is my best stab. I guess just as general information Foot Spa is located at the corner of 5th and Foothill across from the CVS. There is a small lot on the side and street parking. There are various price points for different lengths of time and focus areas. TIP #1: Call ahead of time for an appointment. Foot Spa is your standard Chinese foot spa. This is NOT a fancy-shmancy day spa with private rooms and someone waiting on you hand and foot. When you walk-in from either door, you will see 6 massage chairs out in the open. If you aren't comfortable being massaged in front of other people, you're just going to have to move along. They play instrumental music, which has some fun instrumental covers of more American pop music. It was still relaxing but interesting to listen to. It is one large open room, so you will hear noises (i.e. someone answering the phone, filling the feet soaking tub, greeting customers). So what if they had to make some phone calls during my massage to call an additional masseuse in for a later appointment? So what if they have to tell someone to come back later who walked-in? All things that you just need to accept as there isn't much you can do about it. This is why I recommend calling ahead of an appointment. The more customers that are courteous and calling ahead, then fewer interruptions will be experienced by everyone. It also means that there will be enough masseuses there to accommodate everyone. Tip #2: Don't be cheap and give a real tip ($5 minimum) I am very forgiving of all of the things that happen at a Chinese foot spa. Why? Because I just got a great hour long massage for $20. It started with a great head massage, which moved down to your neck and shoulders to your arms. Then they move down to your legs and then to your feet, which have been soaking. The remainder of the time is spent on your back. I need to start incorporating real (not ones bartered for from le BF) massages into my routine. Everyone needs to remember that someone just spent an entire hour on you, servicing you. If I went for lunch/dinner at a sit down restaurant for a $20 meal, no one is serving me the whole time. Heck, I'm feeding myself. Still, at the end of the day, I would tip 15% which is $3. Is it really that much to tip someone the $5, or more reasonably the $10? This person is servicing you for the full hour. $30 is not a lot for a massage. Go on Groupon, and you'll see discounted massages for more than that. You're getting a no-frills, straight-up massage, which at the end of the day is what I want and what I want to pay for. If you're looking for more than a massage (ambiance), then look elsewhere so you're not disappointed. read more

We called and by the time we arrived they were also busy, but we reminded them that we just called and they cleared the table. First check! Then the massage began. My friend is a regular and referred me to Sunshine. I told them I was new and that a friend told me about them. At the end of the day I paid $40 plus $10 tip (which I shouldn't have) for a full body message. My friend gets a full body message for $25. Why do they do that? $15 is $15, but I won't be back. The light is blocked by paint in one window and Christmas paper in another... but it doesn't matter as your mind and body will be transported (and eyes closed) for the hour... the blankets that cover you are clean, the lotion smells good and is soothing, they cover the buckets they soak your feet in so it is sanitary- can't thank them enough for this tired nurse body that is broken and beaten after long shifts. For the price this place just can't be beat. I'm not even going to knock off a star for noise, or another because the workers were repeatedly cooking noodles in the microwave (I know, I can smell it and hear the slurping haha). $20 for 1 hour massage in a great deal! I took my daughter here with me and she enjoyed her foot massage. They also massage your neck, back, and arms as aprt of the package. Came here on Sunday with very sore feet after a 12 hr day of standing at a garage sale sale, and my experience here was perfect! I beat the rush (by the time I left it was full) and even though massages are performed on every client in a communal room, it still felt tranquil and relaxing. Although you get no privacy and the decor is lacking, you can't beat the price, nor the massage. For $20 you get an hour full body massage (clothes on) with about 20 mins focused on reflexology. Very small place, but kind staff. I liked that they washed their hands before starting your massage, they wore gloves when they massaged your feet and washed their hands again after taking them off... My friend and I did the #4 massage ( they have a list of different massages to choose from) which was 75 minutes long and they used oils. I have been feeling a bit stressed lately and decided I could use a little relaxation so I decided to try this place. When I walked in I was immediately disappointed by what I saw. The place was small and looked run down. The chairs and towels didn't look too inviting. I was going to give the place a try anyway but what turned me off completely was the three employees lounging in the chairs watching TV when I walked in. They asked me if I wanted a massage and then proceeded to fight over who would have to do it. They were all so comfortable that none of them wanted to get up! I highly recommend this massage place. The massage was fantastic. Another place closed in Monrovia and I was looking for a new place. Well I have found it. Small gem tucked in at fifth and foothill. The sign outside said foot massage so I wasn't sure if this was sunshine massage. (Might need to change signage). However beautiful inside, and each table is discreetly behind a curtain. Music is soothing. Employees very gracious. I recommend a 90 min. I had the combo feet soak and body massage and surprise the hot stones are complimentary. 50$. Don't get body massage here. The guy who did the service was literally fisting my stiff shoulders and neck causing serious pain the next day. Not to mention he was drumming the back of my head. I was a walk in and only had to wait for about 10mins. This was my first experience going to a $15-20 hour foot massage so I didn't know what to expect. The masseuse (don't remember her name) did a great job. She was strong but gentle, friendly and took her time. Not sure if I can get used to other people getting massages in the same room. The squeaking of the massage beds and moaning and groaning kept me from fully relaxing ( if you know what I mean) So although it wasn't quite my cup of tea I enjoyed the massage and might consider going back on a slow day. read more

Very good massage for the price. I unfortunately they don't do body massages only foot massages. If you want oil in your back, they as you lay face down, they ask you to remove your shirt so your a shirtless from the back. I mean. No ones sees anything and you are not really showing anything but it's still a little uncomfortable which takes away a little from the relaxation from the massage. If they are able to get a room or a partition to give privacy, otherwise I will have to only come back when I only want a foot message and decline the back oil massage which is nice and like I said, no privacy. read more
