I've lived in the area for thirty years and I've become reliant upon Foothill Ace. I've always had good experiences getting the help I need to find things..or have questions answered. The staff is knowledgeable and professional. Of course some employees are more chatty than others, but I've never felt "talked down to" nor disrespected by anyone. I always try to find what I need here before making a trip to town. Ordering on-line to have the item shipped to the store has been convenient, too, for things not in stock and not urgent. read more

I know that these are difficult times ,especially for retail, and we are grateful for stores being open, however,it does not warrant clerks inability to be nice. I was at foothill last weekend and when checking out, the clerk, Chris, kept telling me to use the pin on my transaction. I kept waiting for the pin option to show up and she grabbed the "pen" and shoved it at me and said pen use the pen!!! I said sorry, I thought you were saying pin through your mask. No sooner had I finished she grabbed it out of my hand and began to wipe it and the card reader down. No thank you, no come again, no have a nice day, just handed me my receipt and pick ticket. Not only was it difficult to hear through her mask but she was also talking to my deaf ear. This is not the first time I have dealt with her and have been told it is her style, she is just gruff. Sorry but totally unacceptable for customer service. I don't care how you are but don't be rude and gruff to your customers. So much for the ace is your place with the friendly hardware guys or gals. The staff at this store need to be more small town friendly. I try to support locals but when they lack customer service skills it is hard. This time was too much. After living up here for 10 years i have now had enough of this place. They have extremely high prices. The staff is extremely rude and disrespectful. The store employees follow you around like you are going to be stealing something. Makes me feel very uncomfortable while shopping like you are being watched. I have been an Ace customer for the past 15 years and, as a retired contractor, I'm very thankful that we have such a good hardware store close by. They have a wide selection at competitive prices. As far as Mike, the owner, is concerned, he is a very helpful, hardworking, family man. He is part of our community; he donates his time and materials to the local little league teams and other community gatherings. I can assure you that his main concern is for the protection of his customers his staff and their families. As far his staff is concerned - they are a fine bunch of knowledgeable, helpful people especially Al and our recently departed friend Theresa. As far as the individual refusing to wear a mask: 1) It's the law - stupid. 2) Every doctor and scientist in the whole world recommend wearing a mask; not so much to protect you from getting the virus but preventing you from spreading it if you were unfortunate enough to catch it. 3) You are required to wear the mask while you are in the store (10-15 minutes), the owner and employees have to wear their mask ALL day. Then they meet a belligerent, stupid, vindictive, moron like you - I'm sure that makes their day. What right do you have to endanger our community? We obviously know were you get your false information - you dumb jerk!! read more

My first trip here. I had my boy with me and we were looking for a bag of fun. We found it; dart guns, a water balloon launcher and some geodes. 3 different people offered to help and everyone was friendly. Can't get that at Lowes. read more

I can't believe the previous reviews. I have shopped at this store for almost three years, and haven't experienced any of the problems they described. All of these guys, including Al by the way, have gone above and beyond for me at one time or another. They've searched for stuff online, consulted with one another, and searched various departments to find something that would work for me when they didn't have what I asked for or when I didn't really know what I needed. Anytime I don't immediately find someone free when I need help, I ask those helpful ladies up front, and they get someone right away. They don't always have what I need, but they always try very hard to make something work for me. As far as being ignored, it's never happened to me. I might have to wait while someone helps a customer who was there first... I might even have to say I need help so they know I want their attention, and am not just shopping. I've sometimes been in 3 or 4 times in a day not even knowing exactly what it is I need to solve my problem(s), and however much of a pain I am, I've never had any of them run from me! read more

Don't listen to the immature and bad reviews by written by some of these fools in earlier posts. From someone who has visited this store frequently this year, everyone in this store does a good job. Most of the people in this store go "way out of their way" to help people. To those people who wrote reviews about not getting help, you are not the center of the universe and there are other people in this world. So the next time you visit Ace, you will be helped, but if someone was there before you, or if someone looks more puzzled than you, expect to be helped after the others. It's called patience. I have shopped at this store for years and have never had any trouble finding help. They know their stuff. Get asked at least two times per visit if I need help by different people. Al is great. He really knows his stuff and will spend plenty of time helping you figure out what it will take to get your project done. Okay he doesn't carry a man-purse, but that's really okay with me. One of the employees helped me solve a problem that was sinking my children's science show if i didn't get it solved. read more

I just moved to the community. I've been in the store a few times and have gotten great service. This evening, Mike and Tom went far above and beyond to help me out of a situation that I would have NEVER been able to get out of on my own. I was blessed to have met these two gentlemen. "Ace is the place, with the helpful hardware man." Well, not in Oregon House. I entered this fine establishment wanting to purchase a Shop Vac. I practically ran right into one of the employees, so I looked at him and said "hello" in hopes that he could direct me to what I was looking for. He looked at me like I was the scum of the earth and kept on walking towards the paint department. I said... "OK, goodbye" and laughed because he was the grouchiest old man I have ever encountered. I overheard someone calling him "Al". I kept on looking up and down the aisles for the Shop Vac and here comes "Al", and we almost meet in the middle of the aisle face to face, but he sees me and takes a sharp turn down another aisle to avoid me and starts to hum a little song like he was sooo busy! Helpful????? NO! What's your deal? You lost some business there, didn't you? I went to Ray's and bought a Shop Vac there. Did you forget to take your Metamucil? Do you hate women? Do you like earning a paycheck? You should...you lost $40 from me that day. I am sorry I ruined your day. read more

So, I'm used to going in to hardware stores and being the guy who is so confused and befuddled that no one wants to begin the process of figuring out my problem. But not this time. There's a guy there who was willing to suspend all judgement and actually listen to my ramblings, examine my busted faucet parts and search for replacement components. He spent probably half an hour of his time and expertise matching stuff up just so I could spend a whopping $3.46 to repair an obsolete 20 year old garden valve. I wish I knew his name so he'd get the credit. He's an older fellow, skinny as a rail, and very focused when it comes to helping out with a project. If you get him you'll know because he's the one who's getting thanked profusely by the guy he helped out before you. read more

I love your store! Except for the man mentioned in a previous review all your help is great! He does treat women as second rate and usually dumber than dirt. Was in there one day and he was working the counter. A gentleman said we don't usually see you at the counter and he replyed "I know I better go put on a skirt) However I just avoid him and find someone else. Lots of GREAT employees there. read more
