Dr. Azhil "Alex" Durairaj is a great cardiologist and he always spends the time that is required with his patients to explain their health, answer any questions and educate them for a good and healthy living. I had a good experience with this medical group. I was here for a consultation and no wait. I was in and out of the clinic within half an hour. Nice receptionist and nurses. Dr. Rao was very professional. She explained my health status and follow ups on tests. The check out person, Juan was very nice and efficient. He made all the appointments for me for follow up tests. They do take Covid-19 safety measures seriously. There was person checked me in at door and provided me with hand sanitizer. I felt safe coming here during this pandemic. read more

I have gone to Foothill Cardiology for many years. I knew the founding members many years ago when I worked at Huntington Hospital. With few exceptions the office runs efficiently and almost always on time. Dr. Rao is always pleasant and reassuring. This office scheduled two separate appointments for me: one for an electrocardiogram, and a second appointment to speak to the doctor about the results. I asked why I had to have two appointments since electrocardiogram results are immediately available. Appointment desk person told me the insurance companies don't allow them to have two appointments on the same day. I called my insurance company and they informed me that was not their policy and they would inform the cardiologist's office. Obviously, the cardiologist's office prefers to bill for two visits instead of one wherever possible, no matter how inconvenient it is for the patient (me) or how expensive it is for me to get there (about $50 via UBER of LYFT). Do I really want to put my heart in their hands? read more

My mom was in the hospital over the weekend. She is 97 years old. The cardiologist at the hospital said my mom needs to see her cardiologist within 3-4 days. I have called every day since she got out. I was connected with Dr. Rashtians nurse and she never picked up. When I finally talked to her, she said she needed the medical records from the hospital but wasn't sure if she could get them without consent. She said she would call me back about whether they could get the info, but she never did. My husband sent an email with the records this morning and I heard nothing from them. When I call and they sent me to his nurse, I got her voicemail and she still hasn't called me back. It is causing me a ton of stress. Tomorrow is the last day she was recommended to see Dr. Rashtian and nothing. Ugh! read more

This review is specifically for Dr. Roth and his staff... I am frankly baffled at the good reviews for this doctor. He is hands down the WORST doctor I have ever had any experience with. My elderly aunt's long time cardiologist recently retired, and on so many glowing recommendations, we went with Dr. Roth. Since the beginning, he has been COMPLETELY disinterested. He didn't bother to read any of her cardiac history and was completely WRONG on many of his assumptions. When we try to make an appointment with him, they tell us "he's too busy" and to go to urgent care or her PCP. Frankly, the attitude we get from both him and his staff is... "she's an old lady who's going to die soon anyway, I don't have time for her". Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. She's in congestive heart failure and clearly has fluid build up and will likely need another pericardiocentesis... his recommendation? "tell her to put her feet up". Seriously??? He may be great if/when he's interested, and he's very "charming", but please please please, if you have any elderly relatives needing cardiac care - stay FAR FAR FAR away from this useless uncaring "doctor". read more

After seeing another doctor I knew I had to change my cardiologist. She told me I was ok when I knew I wasn't after having multiple strokes. I saw Dr. Roth and he immediately ordered a loop recorder. He knew it had to be AFIB but the EKG did not pick it up at the time. Having the loop recorder he found I was having paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and that is why I continued having strokes. He started me on the proper medications to prevent me from having anymore strokes. He is one of the best cardiologist. He is attentive and compassionate. He's patient with you and allows you to ask questions. He will educate you on whatever condition you're having. He's an exceptional cardiologist. read more

I had appointment was was late due to the street construction on Fair oak and trying to fine parking. It was my first time there and a line to check in. I was told that she would check to see if i could be seen because late and to go have a sit, I did. about 10 mins later I was told that I would have to make another appointment into the next month nothing sooner. It was a waste of my time to see DR Luu Then I had to paid for parking. I had a very negative experience at Foothill Cardiology Pasadena. I met Dr Rao briefly back in May. I was referred to a cardiologist by my primary physician. During my initial consultation she ordered different tests which I had to complete for an evaluation. During this visit all my testing was scheduled ,including my follow up appointment to review my results. I had and appointment for an in person visit on August 1st . A week before my appointment was cancelled. I was informed that Dr Rao would not be there. There is no flexibility on scheduling there. I did not receive any priority on possible opening her calendar since Dr Rao cancelled. I was scheduled on the next available appointment Oct 18 almost three months later. It was fine at that time , I understand specialist are very busy and have a lot of patients. I requested to be put on a waitlist for a possible cancellation so I could meet with her sooner. Soon after that I received and email advising me that there was an opening for a Telehealth visit/virtual appointment. If I was able to make it I would have to call. Unfortunately due to my work schedule I received this message after hours. I called spoke to the answering service and advised them I could not make that appointment. I didn't not worry I still had my in person appointment for Oct 18. I still called back during business hours I was advised her assistant Alana was not there, but they would send her a message. Apparently I was scheduled for the Telehealth visit without confirming with me first. My in person appointment was cancelled did not get notified. I took a day off from work specially for this appointment only to find out when I was on my way there I had no appointment. I tried to inquire why I was not notified. I could not get any answers. I asked to be transferred to Alana Dr Rao assistant.I was advised the phones were not working , the call could not be transferred. Fabiola the assistant that answered the phone was very courteous an told me she would send a message to Alana. It's Oct 19 more then 24 hrs later and I still have not gotten a call from anyone in that office. I did schedule the next available appointment January 2023. Eight months after my initial consultation. I definitely would not recommend Foothill Cardiology Pasadena. Very poor communication/No scheduling flexibility/ poor customer service/ read more

Dr. Roth and Dr. Rashtian are two of the best doctors I have had (in a lifetime full of doctors!), and two of my favorite people. They kept me alive for many years during heart failure caused by chemotherapy. I survived a cardiac arrest 20 years ago because they had the foresight to test me and implant an internal defibrillator. They saved my life again by referring me to UCLA to be evaluated for a heart transplant, which I had 13 years ago. I had several appointments over a two-week period, and each time I spent no more than 5 min in the waiting room before I was serviced. Results of each test were promptly communicated within 24 hrs. As someone with chronic illnesses it's such a rare treat to go to a doctor's office that is run well and has doctors that seem like they actually care. Everyone from the reception, to the nurse who took my vitals, to my doctor (Dr. Kumar) were kind, patient, and helpful. Dr. Kumar made me feel heard, took her time with me, and took me seriously. Aw, so sad to have to downgrade them already. My experience there was so good, but when I had to call about my results and ask about whether or not I could skip an order for a monitor since everything looked fine on both my exams, I never got a return call. So, days later, I called again and left a second message on the doctor's voice mail, saying I'd never received a call back from anyone. In return, I received a weird message a few days later from an assistant saying that if I wanted my message to go to the doctor, to call and tell them. What, call and tell you that I want the message I left for the doctor to go to the doctor?? So I left a third message, saying, "Yes, I do want the message I left to go to the doctor and I'd like a call back, please." Never a call back. Now, after a couple of weeks of calls from the monitor agency, I told them I was unable to reach the doctor to ask if I could cancel the monitor, so told them just to cancel. Darn, why is it so hard to get follow up after your visit? All it would have taken was one two minute call--even from a assistant who had spoken with the doctor-- to end our association on a good note. read more
