I have a 1987 VW Westfalia camper van with a Subaru engine. It is an unusual Van to work on. Rob replaced the transmission, timing belt, brakes and knew about all her unusual quirks. Check engine light came on this morning. Stopped by Foothill, Rob came out and checked the error code on my 2013 Jeep, explained to me that it was caused by a possible leak in my gas cap. He cleared the error and informed me that if the error reappeared, to get a gas cap from the dealer and that would solve the issue. All free of charge. I took my GMC Envoy to them after a bad experience at another shop. Rob was such a pleasure to work with, I took him out on the road to show him exactly what I was experiencing and unfortunately he said it sounded like my transmission and referred me to another shop to take care of me. I couldn't be happier with my experience even tho he wasn't able to help me. He didn't charge me hardly at all for diagnosing the issue. Bless the man who referred me to "Rob @ Foothill Auto." I honestly can't remember who it was, but I'm very glad they did. I echo the sentiments already stated in prior reviews. The shop is ethical and they have Integrity. Brought my daughter's car in for a diagnosis and was only charged for the time it actually took for the diagnosis....not a full 1 or 1.5 hours. Who does that??? When we brought our daughter's vehicle in, he explained what he thought the issue was and even took us for a road test in the vehicle. Again...who does that??? The car was fixed based on the exact diagnosis and on time and maybe even a little earlier than anticipated. Further...I had gone to the shop's website where you can type in a question for a response. I did this on the weekend. Foothill is closed on weekends. The very next Monday...first thing in the morning...Rob calls me with his thoughts on my issue! THAT is great customer service. Being in close proximity to the shop, this is my go-to place. And that front desk person...Yvette...yeah...she's pretty cool too! Our vehicles will inevitably need servicing at some point...but if they didn't break down, these are still people you would like to hang out with. How's that for an endorsement? read more

Rob is an honest mechanic. I get the feeling he would never try to sell you something you dont need. Even took the time to explain the function of the parts for me. Gets $hit done! Prices for parts were a little high, but thats to be expected as he is getting them delivered within hours. My card didnt go through and I had to come back the next day to pay, Yvette genuinely offered to give me a ride home multiple times. This place is the best. My check engine light came on late Friday, I brought it to Foothill Auto Service at the INSISTENCE of my friend Monday morning and they quickly ran a FREE DIAGNOSTIC to tell me it was probably a fuel cap issue. Cap was ordered and installed the next day for LESS than originally quoted! The only dealership in Sacramento, for my car, wanted 1.5 hrs service fee just to check it out. Oh man where do I start? My 2012 genesis randomly broke down about 80 miles outside of town. I had no idea what was wrong other than I knew it wasn't driveable. I live in Cameron Estates and this was the closest place with the highest rating and I will admit after my initial call I knew why. The receptionist was super kind about me just showing up when I could since I wasn't sure when a tow truck could get me there. Then when I asked her what the inspection fee was she said " he probably won't charge you if it's the belt (which I thought it was) he will just be able to open up the hood and determine if it needs one or not...but if he needs to inspect further it will be $48" which is incredibly fair in my mind. Well come to find out the engine needs to be replaced and it will cost more than it's worth. So I told him I'll just come get the car and that's that. Well he not only let me keep the car there over the weekend but he charged me less than $20 for the inspection. If it was feasible to fix my car I would have done it in a heart beat. Rob seemed incredibly genuine and fair and that's all I ask for in a mechanic. He honestly seemed to feel bad when he gave me the news and in world where everyone wants to make a dollar off one another. I appreciate that he looked out for me and my best interest. I will be visiting him for future needs as will my family. read more
