Worst foot massage I've ever had. The practitioner didn't know reflexology or use any massage techniques that were effective in any way. To top it off he started digging into my foot with a stick, which was totally unnecessary and super painful so I told him to stop. I was a licensed massage therapist for twenty years. Don't pull that bs on me. I will never go back. What a rip off. This place is so low quality and unprofessional, I can't help but wonder if the people who work here are even licensed by NY State Massage Board. I highly doubt it. read more

Clean and nice smelling quiet private rooms , reasonable rates , workers who know what the heck they are doing as the gal who works on my feet was great and didn't talk much as I was snoozing a bit . My first visit to this place was very disappointing. The therapist gave me an extremely aggressive massage. I told him several times that it was painful, he only lowered the pressure for a minute and then continued the same way. I left with back pain that lasted for three days, and instead of feeling better, I felt worse. I decided to give the place another chance, and the owner himself gave me a massage the second time. He was very gentle and professional, and that experience was excellent. Today I went back again, but since the owner was on vacation (according to the receptionist), I tried another therapist. From the beginning I asked for "very gentle," but the massage was still too aggressive. Even when I told him during the session that it was painful, he just laughed and continued. Afterwards, the receptionist pressured me to leave a tip. I still left a small one out of courtesy, but she criticized me in her language and spoke to me with an attitude, implying that I should have given more. My brother invited me to get a massage because as I had sent him to my frequent spit, he said, he likes this spot better. The Massage was great, the difference from.my regular spot is that, it is done by men, hands are nice and strong, they work on your muscles very well on your body and feet. Absolutely worth the try. I don't think is better than my regular spot, is just a different stronger, deep muscle massage to the body. I did not take any pictures because it's weird to walk into a footspa when people are getting massages and start taking pictures but this place gives you a very good foot massage. I came with my friend and we sat down in recliner chairs and hat towels as blankets and our therapist began working on our feet and using pressure points. My friend fell asleep and I just sat and enjoyed the experience. At times it was a little painful but I'm sure that has to do with the pressure points. I only wish I had an explanation of what the pressure points are targeting. The next day I was not in any pain like when I go to some places. I slept really well. If I could give 0 stars I would. Came here with my girlfriend last week for a foot and leg massage. The masseuse clearly was not sanitary and didn't wash his hands prior to the massage because right after I went, I quickly developed folliculitis on my leg hairs and now have rashes covering both legs. Now I have to see a dermatologist who specifically told me this is common from massage parlors that are unsanitary and don't take care in proper hygiene. AVOID! Unfortunately I do not remember the name of my masseuse, but I just would never come back. The prices were cheap for a reason. Like other no frills massage places in Flushing and throughout NYC, Foot Spa falls into that category. They offer full body and foot massages. Prices have increased by $2, so they're $42 and $32 respectively. These are cash prices, so know it's like $3 more if you plan on paying by card. It is definitely bare bones in terms of ambiance and decor, but the massages here are top notch. I've tried both the full body and foot massage and recommend both. The masseuses really get in there and work out all the kinks and knots. If you don't like hard/deep tissue massages, DO NOT go here. This is not for you. They also use hot stone at the end of your full body, which is great. One star taken off because their cleaning between clients is a bit weak. They just spray Lysol disinfectant over the chair/bed area. So for me, I just kept my mask on the entire time. read more

I was looking for some deep tissue relieve after I foolishly overworked my left shoulder for a month and recently coming off a 4.5 hours social dance workshop. I found it last night at the Foot Spa, where I walked out and hour and 10 mins later without an ounce of tension on my shoulders and the rest of my body felt so relaxed. $40/hr + tip well spent I say. Not a fan of the venue's name here. Nor am I of the decor and the paper thin separations between the body work booths (with it's stingy curtains) and the front door massage area. One can hear everything. I have been here twice, more than a year ago, for the foot massage. Not too shabby. I decided to try their "back rub" because I was too feeling too lazy on a raining day to trek to Flushing and get my fix. Bodywork at $40/hr and Foot rub for $30/hr in Astoria where I don't have to commute so far is honestly not too shabby. My massage was done by a young man. He did great! A good mix of long relaxing pressure strocks along with strong but not "painful" rubbing of tendons knots. His techniques were appropriate and did well with the flexing of the extremities to access muscle groups (I have gotten a lot of massages: low, middle and high end. So I have a clue or two). I said nothing about my left shoulder but clearly he knew something was up since he definitely spent a bit of extra time there. He ended with some hot stones and were very pleasant. For those of you who might not be familiar with Chinese massage places... This is not your regular "spa". You get rubbed and pressed the crap out of the knots in your muscle and tendons. My partner and I have only been to this establishment twice; but after our last encounter, we will not be returning. First, we come in for a back massage for $40. During our time there, it was far from relaxing. As people kept coming in asking about appointments and pricing, two of the employees kept yelling back and forth about scheduling ‍. That works fine, but a little bit of annoyance as you're trying to get a relaxing massage. Once we completed the massages we paid and tipped. The lady was yelling for the man to come and get his tip. We waited for about five minutes when he finally comes to the front desk. He then began to look at his money, fan it, and look at my partner. He had seven dollars in his hand and had the audacity rudely tell us that we needed to tip $10. Yes, he told this to his PAYING customers! Well 20% would've been eight dollars so that arbitrary number that he came up with makes no sense... So I wanted to write this review to let you people know about tipping. Tipping is an American custom that is not required by law. If you receive a tip you should be grateful someone thought to tip you extra in addition to what they ALREADY paid for. In addition to that, this establishment only accepts cash so they're already getting over by not paying a percentage of what they charge you. Here's some advice for you: If you want a bigger tip maybe you should bring out your card machine so we can start charging our massages. I'm not running to an ATM trying to get cash out for your extra three dollars. I find it very unfortunate that this boy complained about having three dollars in his hand, yet you lose a customer who's been to your establishment more than once. Kind of stupid. Definitely understated but great place. Very clean, quiet and is obvious that personnel has been doing it for years and years. Full body massage is relaxing and they do fantastic job in releasing muscle tension and knots. I can say that massage is 'deep massage' and I love it. while massaging they check if you are ok. I love all the stretching along my neck and spine. I can tolerate it easily and did not find it painful, Last time person finished the session with massaging my head and face and was wonderful! Everything was great right up until the end. Lovely 1hr foot massage happy with the service but when I go to pay I ask if I can tip on a credit card which is told me sure no problem. On a $35 service I tipped $12. So I explain this and even tell him so now the total will be $47. My receipt says $53 I'm like huh? So I explain he has overcharged me by $6. He calls the owner then puts me on the phone with her for her to explain it's a $3 tax on my service plus a $1 tax on the tip I'm giving and they'll give me the extra $3 in cash. First of all there is no sign indicating that nor is that real considering it was all 1 transaction. Theres a bit of truth but a few unfairness on some of the reviews of this place. Most of the people working here are quite nice. I think it's more of the language problem that's making it difficult for clients to enjoy the experience. It's really difficult to convey something when they don't understand what you're saying especially areas you wanted focus or amount of pressure you need. Otherwise, most of them (at least the one that I get to experienced with) are very thorough and polite. It's not a very private place and disorganized but you can't really expect a small neighborhood business like this as a high end spa. It is what it is. They do what they can do best. The location is along Ditmars and it's basically a block away from us too so it's perfect for us to patronize them. I would hope most people have an open mind on little places like this. Spent 3 magical hours there. I previously went to a similar, no-frills place on Steinway but was disappointed the last two times. Decided to give Foot Spa a try. VERY happy and I am very picky. Had a two hour body massage and one hour foot massage. The gentleman that attended to me used just the right pressure, needed no guidance from me and was polite & respectful. Re: other posts that complain about lack of credit card machine and minimum tipping. 100% that a tip is optional and cannot be mandated. However, cheapskates that are going to give someone $8 after they spent time rubbing your body clearly need some reminder of how self-entitled they are. Small business owners lose a lot of money to credit card fees. Especially during Covid, people should support local businesses and pay cash. A hidden gem in Astoria! I'm an avid fan of back and foot massages - especially those little "hole in the wall" spots where the employees really know what they're doing and don't charge insane spa prices for their services. This is definitely one of those spots! I've been here several times now and I've never been disappointed, and for $30 you can get a full hour of foot reflexology or for $40, an hour body massage. Beat that! It's definitely a no frills spot but that doesn't bother me as long as it's clean (which it is) and the staff is professional and friendly (which they are.) Horrible customer service. I've went to this establishment twice. First time the foot massage was good. Second time, I got a body massage for an hour. I tipped the masseuse 20% which turned out to be $8. He looks at it and says, "THIS NOT ENOUGH!" "$10 TIP MINIMUM FOR 1HOUR!" I was unaware of this unspoken "rule" even though I'm always aware of tipping the correct amount. I was very embarrassed and shocked by his response that it ruined the rest of my otherwise relaxing day. There are other ways to let me know this "rule" without being an a-hole. Had a back massage here and it was painful, I couldn't enjoy it, I had to ask multiple times for him to go lighter and he would but then a few minutes after he would be digging deep again. My back is extremely sore days later. It didn't seem like he was qualified to be massaging, he used oil but at times it felt like rug burn. I would also like to add that I love deep tissue massages and this was just completely horrific the pain I have days later, I'm surprised I'm not bruised. After a long flight, my husband and I decided to pop in on a whim. Definitely not sorry! It's not your typical Swedish massage in a spa- where they pay lots of attention to draping and the frills like aromatherapy and robes. But if you aren't so fussed, they work hard and it's inexpensive. My back and feet feel amazing, it's not a wimpy massage at all and I feel real change in my muscles. The reflexologist are typically males and are very good. Calm setting depending on when you visit but if you're not in a rush to enjoy yourself this is great. No frills and a very cozy space. Love love love this place! I live in the area so I probably visit at least 1-2 times a month for foot reflexology and occasionally for back rubs. If you visit on the weekend in later in the evening I recommend calling ahead, even if it's just 15 mins notice. They can fill up sort of sporadically. They accept cards but they like you to leave tips in cash. The lazy boy chairs at the front, where you get the reflexology done are super comfy. I sometimes drift off asleep. The frequent visitor cards are also an incentive. After 10 visits, you get 1 free. I just wish they would change up the music there. It's always the same cd on a loop when I go. We've been walking by this little joint for 2 years now, since we moved to the area and we always said we would stop in. We finally did last night while we were waiting for our laundry and it was totally worth it. They do foot massages for 30, 45, or 60 minutes and also "body massages" in the same increments. A 30 min foot massage is $20 and 60 minutes is $30 - total steal in my book. They have these magnormously oversized plush recliners for your to sit in while you're getting a foot massage, they literally eat you into a pillow of comfort. And they set a timer so it's precisely 15min per foot (or 30 or whatever). They have your classic low key ambient music that plays - tunes that you can't quite place but you feel like you know if only they weren't played on the panpipes or some funky synthesizer from the 80's. I could easily have stayed for a 60 min massage but our laundry doesn't take that long. I thought the massage was excellent and thorough and my feet felt so much more relaxed afterwards. I think anyone who does endurance training or has a job on their feet this is the perfect unwinding for a reasonable price. This could become a dangerous habit for us! read more

I decided to give this place another try due to the convenience. I was already in the area and needed a foot massage. I stopped by without an appointment and the woman at the front said she could only take a 30 minute foot massage at the moment but she could book me for a 1 hour slot if I came back a few hours later. I made the appointment and came back. She was friendly and the massage was good. The masseur was really getting into it and doing a really good job. It was one of the best foot massages I have had. He kept checking on me at the beginning to make sure everything was OK. When it came time to pay, I gave $35 cash to the woman at the front who kept looking at the change and cash in my hand. I felt she was keeping tabs on my tip like a hawk. She kinda reached out for the tip but then I turned around to the masseur and she was like "Oh, OK, you can give it to him." I always give the tip directly to the masseur and am usually directed to do so at other places so that felt a bit sketchy. I gave the masseur $12 as I know $10 is the unspoken standard tip for such a foot massage. They have a thriving foot massage business. I believe there's only one full body massage table in the back. The walls are extremely thin and only a drape serves as your door, so you're pretty much getting a massage in the company of 3-5 people getting a foot massage. For $40/hr it's still a good deal. The massage I received was a very standard Asian spa masseuse massage. Very friendly; includes work done on your face (nice!) and a hot towel at the end. Definitely worth $40/hr. read more
