I had purchased a pair of new balance 1080s in August of this year. Within a week, I knew that…read morethere was something wrong with my shoes. I had purchased them from Dick's Sporting Goods in Valparaiso, but after contacting new balance customer support I was instructed to go to the nearest new balance store to see what was going on with my shoes. There was something definitely wrong with them and the manager of the new balance Merriville store was so kind and even wrote a letter on my behalf to new balance so that they would help me with my shoes. I was having some problems with Dicks. After arguing with the corporate new balance operation, they said that there was nothing wrong with the shoes and that from the pictures I had sent them they were not going to be able to help me. That meant I had a pair of running shoes that hurt so bad when I ran that my feet would just ache the whole night after. But the manager there looked at the shoes and said there is clearly something wrong with that right shoe. These shoes were not even purchased through them and they helped me so much. He jotted down a letter for me to send to corporate and gave his name and his title for them to be able to contact him directly about my shoes. Of course, new balance corporate ignored the letter and told me to donate my shoes and that they will give me a 10% discount on my next pair. So I quickly went out and bought a pair of ASICS. There is no way I would do business with new balance the corporation. However , I would most certainly do business with new balance Merriville. I had a race on Saturday and I needed shoes so my husband went out and bought me a pair of Hoka's Bondi 9. I don't mind Hoka's at all. Especially since I like the bounce. But that meant that between the terrible new balance, the new Hoka's and the ASICS we had spent almost $600. It was a nightmare. I buy new shoes every 500 miles - so around every 3-4 months. Big mistake New Balance-- very big.

The young lady that assisted me was so sweet. Caucasian lady; wish i could remember her name. Her…read moreservice was superb. She welcomed me and assisted me with my service with grace. She explained what shoes i needed to properly wear; the size and medical reasons as to why my foot were in a certain direction and how to direct it. She addressed in detail my Achilles issue, thoroughly. She made me feel like i mattered and you can tell she enjoys what she does. She is amazing and stores need more of her! she also assisted with my son, and was amazing with him a toddler at that who can be challenging. She explained to me what he needed to correct his foot as well; gave me foot ensole suggestions that I dudnt knew I needed... I purchased those as well.

I've shopped here a few times over the years. Mostly for a random, fun button up or similar. Once I…read morestarted shopping for daily suits and button up shirts, things went south and fast. I bought a $900 Hart suit. After 3/4 wears (no rough usage), the pants began to rip along the pocket line. I took it up there and (rudely, as usual) was told "well you probably put your hands in the pockets." First, I don't often do that. Second, I have a $900 suit and can't put my hands in my pockets!? I can with my suits from Kohls with no issues. She stitches them up and within an hour of wearing the next time, the stitching breaks open. I took it to a local seamstress and she fixed it without issue. A few wears after that, however, the suit bottoms ripped again in the back. Simply cheap nonsense. Somewhere during this time, I went to shop for custom button up shirts to wear for my new court clerkship. The lady urges me to get these custom-made shirts that are guaranteed to fit perfectly. She has to order them from Asia somewhere, though. I tell her very clearly that I need the shirts by the start of June (6 weeks or so from the day). The shirts come in a month or so later, and they don't fit whatsoever. Not close. Mind you these shirts were $100 a piece. Most were basic white button ups. $500 for five shirts and nada. She then says she will tailor them for me. I wait, and wait.. nothing. By this time, I'm well into my clerkship and the point is moot. I show up later to discuss something else (the pants above) and she says "oh I called you." Well, I never received a call to my knowledge. Wouldn't you call again? You'd think, especially because of the time frame and their screw up. She then acts as though it's my fault and reluctantly refunds me. In addition to the above examples, I have noticed their prices are ridiculously high. Most things you can find elsewhere or online for 60% of the price. Tom is pretty cool and helpful/knowledgeable but the lady who runs it is borderline insufferable. Their suits are overpriced and cheap quality. Shoes too. If you want to spend $900 on a suit you can't wear, $500 on custom shirts that don't fit and take months to arrive, and be treated like a burden -- look no further! This is the shop for you!
