This store is terribly run, i shop here once a week just for the sales, three out of four weeks they're advertise sales price was not what you got charged at the register one week water $.99 a gallon the next week it was grapes, and today it was mushrooms, now of course when I bring it to their attention, they give me the money I'm due, but I could see this happening once occasionally, but three out of four times that is purposefully being done or there is absolutely no management. I have NEVER had this happen at Safeway or at grocery outlet. I think that the owners need to reevaluate their employees because this is unacceptable behavior. read more

This evening around 6pm I was craving a deli sandwich from Food's Etc so I headed up there to get one.I filled out my order slip and handed it to one of the deli clerks.She practically snatched it from my hand.Once she looked at it she rudely said," You didn't fill out the size so can you manage to do it next time"?! The way she said it was with pure degrading disgust.I didn't see her name tag but it was the overly plus size girl with the baby voice. As much as I like the sandwiches there, I will never get another one.And I've been enjoying them for years.Most of the employees in the deli need to be retrained and taught on how to be pleasant to customers. read more

Another update on bad business practices, i've been going every week here for produce, they had a sale on red leaf lettuce $.99 each, normally it's 1.99 I got two bunches, when I got home and looked at the receipt, she charged me for Romain lettuce $1.99 each. Not a big deal. I just brought my receipt in the next week when I went in for lettuce, to the same clerk. She said it's been too long and unless I return it they can't do anything, I mean it's only two dollars it's not a big deal, to me. So my observation of this store is they just think everybody's out to steal from them. I normally only buy lettuce and tomatoes at this store, so if Safeway has the same price for the lettuce, I will buy it there from now on. read more

Great deli food selection and the prices are great for their "to go" section. I will often stop here for a quick and inexpensive lunch. Out of all the grocery stores in Clearlake, this one has the tastiest foods and sandwiches. They have all the usual offerings and even have some unusual - but fantastic salads, like curried chicken and cranberry (it's really good!). SHORT REVIEW: THIS PLACE IS DIRTY AND IS DANGEROUS TO YOUR HEALTH! LONG REVIEW: This market is to be avoided at all costs. The real problem is not the market as such, but it is in a small shopping center where over half of the retail space has been converted into a very large group of clinics. While the parking areas for the market and clinic are clearly delineated, the market lot is most often full while the market itself is nearly empty; most of the cars are overflow from the clinic parking lot. That is problem one. Problem two is that it doesn't matter if the market is full or empty, a good percentage of the people shopping here are clearly and quite obviously sick with colds, flu, and who knows what. People coughing directly into the vegetables, blowing their noses and leaving the tissue everywhere, it seems as if the most basic courtesy and regard for public health is missing. I appreciate that everyone gets sick at some time or another, but we all have a responsibility to make an effort not to spread disease. Yesterday I saw a woman blow her nose into her hand and throw the snot on the floor in front of the lose potatoes. This is an uncommon but not unheard of practice and completely disgusting not to mention dangerous. Coughs and sneezes are not covered and are often followed by outright spitting on the floor. For the second time this year my wife and I became violently ill following our market trip. I blame it on the phlegm that was on the POS machine I used at checkout. The market cannot help where they are located, but they could take location into consideration and hire additional cleaners. Just to pick up the discarded tissues and clean surfaces would be a step in the right direction, but that step is not taken. In any event after a night of vomiting and diarrhea we are done with this place. Do yourself a favor, protect your health and STAY AWAY! read more

Great locally owned supermarket. Best deli in town with a wide variety of fresh choices. From 8 to 9pm daily, they put out deli items that didn't sell that day half price. You know everything is prepared fresh daily. read more

I often shop at Foods Etc because it's local friendly and they have great selection and prices. Today was the first time I tried the deli after a really bad experience at Safeway deli. Nice place directly across from best western. Great lunches for to go. However the clientele is on par with Clear Lake. Ran into a few personalities, but I guess it adds flavor. Don't remember her name, but the night shift bagging girl sure had attitude, she did not understand "all of this goes in one bag." She responded with "OK I'm going to just let you do it." And raised her hands up like she was under arrest, backed up slowly, then turned and walked away... -_- Aside from that, nice local shop. read more

So I went there today for the first time in a year to buy corn beef and cabbage..the manager in hot food needs to be fired immediately..so the plate came with 2 slices of corn beef approx 2 inches long ..wtf so I ask the lady serving what is that...she said the manager said just to slices..I said my 3 yr old can eat this in 20 seconds I'm a grown man ..she was nice about it ..but she said the manager ..a Mexican gal said 2 slices.....I know what she's doing she's trying to make 300 dollars off one corn beef cooked so her margins are sky high...but fuc..the customer royally..she's been doing this for yrs hot food that's why I stopped going in first place the poorest county in ca continues to get fuc@$# buy foods. Sandwiches here are wonderful, plenty of choices, hot and cold. Fresh rolls. Upgrade to a 12" add another meat and share!! Call in if you want during peak (11:00 - 13:00), or will be a wait. My fave is salami with smoked turkey and provalone cheese on a soft roll with everything. Unless you're a big mustard fan, ask for light on that. I've never had one, but have observed a brisk business in hot sandwiches also. Full service deli available for sides and salads. BBQ Pork Ribs are good but messy, best eaten at home. read more

I am a regular shopper at Foods, Etc in Clearlake. They are my first choice for everyday groceries. Other choices, in order, are Safeway, Ray's, Hardester's and Walmart. I am a local and I prefer to shop a local owner whenever possible. I have also met the store manager, Lamont, who is top notch. You'll find 90% of your needs met here. They have a deli and prepared food section in addition to the normal market departments. read more
