It's currently February 6, 2021. This place can be absolutely insane when it comes to the lines. If you come here long enough, you will eventually develop a zen. If you come everyday at PEAK hours, you will reach enlightenment. That being said, the employees (as a whole) are solid, prices are low, and there is a restroom. read more

Sunday 6/7 staff member chased us out of store, held our cart, ripped bags out of our arms and falsely accused stealing!!!! The register wasn't working properly and did not provide receipt. The cashier came running out screaming at my Son that he stole food! She grabbed the cart in the parking lot. He told her that's against the law and so I took bags out to carry them. She then ripped the grocery bag out of his arms and started yelling don't touch me. The parking lot security asked if she wanted police. Yes, we wanted police to press charges against her!! We went back into the register so they could see we paid. She just said sorry, I was doing my job. NO NO that is not your job to chase an innocent person or anyone down in the parking lot and take their groceries out of the patrons arms. Manager at store could care less about the incident. Trying to get corporate to file a complaint against Teresa the clerk. Cameras inside and outside will show events unless they misteriously get erased or "were not functioning" lol. Hope not to have to take this to court. I had to wait till today to post it cuz I was going to see if corporate cared corporate. Totally did not care read more

Well I've lived in this neighborhood for about 29 years and I enjoyed shopping here a lot. Now things have changed. Was a 24 hour establishment for many years then drunkardness and some homeless folks always inside causing chaos and violence so it decided to change there hours. Inconvenient for the rest of us working late hours but being able to shop before driving kids to school. The food prices have extremely changed after there remodel. A couple of Great helpful workers no longer work there or have passed away. Miss you "HELEN" there is a worker there that is short and no neck that is a total "B" so unhelpful and always doing the self checkout. The older guy driving the forklift needs to slow down and be considerate of others read more

I have been a customer of Food Max for over 25 years. Today might be my last. At 3pm today I tried to buy bread and beer. There was only 1 checker and 14 carts in line. Put my beer back and self checkout is not my favorite. I asked an employee why only 1 checker. She said she had asked for help and was turned down. I ask an employee I have known for a long time what the problem was and again management was the problem. People were abandoning their carts. Terrible service but not the employees! Maybe I will try you again sometime later. read more

Euwwwhhhh... One visit was plenty for me. Picked up a cellophane wrapped package of the house brand chocolate chip cookies. There was a fly trapped in there. Produce looked half dead. After those two views I did not proceed to inspect the meat nor bakery departments. High talied it outt'a there before something could possibly harm me. In comparison, Safeway is a super luxe market. And I ain't no fan of Safeway. read more

bargain prices unlike any other grocery store. the really low prices allow for me to get double the amount of items for a still much less overall total at checkout. the reason I gave it a four star rating is due to the horrible checkout lines. I get that other people also enjoy the wonderful prices, but those lines are worse than the ones at Costco. even self checkout takes forever. ...but I guess id rather pay less here than have a no wait time at checkout and pay more at a different store . too bad you can't have both. such is life! read more

Foodmaxx - Grocery Near Me - Santa Rosa, California

We have been shopping at Foodmaxx bi-weekly for the last 5 years. At the beginning of COVID we weren't allowed to bring in our re-usable bags, but for the last 6 months it has been okay. Until today. TRICIA made a big scene saying she couldn't touch our re-usable bags because she is immune-comprised. 2 things: 1. It hasnt been an issue for the last couple of months, and even YOU have rung us up before and it wasnt an issue. Why now? Why today? 2. WHY are you WORKING THE REGISTER and TOUCHING CASH (which is way worse than touching our re-usable grocery bags) if you are immune comprised?!?! Not a wise decision at all. On her part and Foodmaxx's part. She was the only register open. And guess what, i'm also immune compromised. Very horrible experience this morning. After declaring she couldnt touch our bags - I went on to say how this has never been an issue and what does she want us to do? She had no answer. I suggested having someone go get us plastic bags, she then handed us some from under her register. I continued to say how it was never an issue before as we started to re-bag all our stuff and then she walked away from the register and said she wouldnt service us because we were being rude, when really we were just in shock that she was making SUCH A SCENE when there has NEVER been an issue before. I asked for a manager, she lied and said there was no manager on duty. A few minutes later, the manager walked up and apologized for how she handled the situation and guess what... HE DID NOT SAY THAT WE COULDNT USE OUR REUSABLE BAGS. What he should've done, was take her off the register and check us out without making us take everything out of our reusable bags and put it into plastic bags. In addition to writing reviews, I plan on reaching out to corporate management about this, because it is really not okay. How she acted. How she treated us. She shouldn't be allowed to interact with customers. Terrible customer service. Worst experience we have had in the 5 years we've shopped there!!! So so upset and disappointed. Foodmaxx itself we would rate a 5 star The experience we had today we rate a -4 star = 1 star review read more

Super convenient. They stay stocked up and have frequent grocery deals. Btw my coffee creamer has never been rotton

Yes the lines are always too long, the lighting is poor, and many items are damaged, BUT the produce is almost always fresh and abundant with unbeatable prices. I come at least once a week and am saving hundreds of dollars a month in groceries. read more

This store never has enough checkers. Today, the lines were all the way down the central aisle and only a few registers were open. Even the self checkout was backed up most of the way down the aisle. There were no carts available. None in front of the store and none in the cart returns I saw on two different roes in the parking lot. They really need to get it together here. I came out and there were two little girls trying to sell their Girl Scout cookies. I can't imagine anyone would be in the mood to buy after dealing with the mess inside the store! read more

Worst Grocery store I've ever been to. Terrible management, horrible service providers, and filthy store are not nearly enough to justify the savings - or lack thereof. I'll never go back. read more

I love this store. Why you ask? because they seriously make some of the best Flan I've had in a long time that wasn't homemade. yummy. and they have mexican popsicles. double yummy. and they have a really good value on their large packs of meat, which if you have a hankering for deepfrying several dozen chicken wings (which believe it or not I do) it's is easy on the pocket book. They also have nice cuts of meat that go great in a crockpot. awesome selection of speciality foods from indian, asian and mexican. I have tried so many really cool things that I've picked up randomly off the shelves here in the past few months. The harina wheat wheels are good too and they are 98 cents a bag. Produce is good, but note that you need to consume it quickly, their produce doesn't have the best staying power. read more

I'd give this store a negative 100 if I could. This place is nasty, the refrigerators are constantly out of temperature (41F or below people), they NEVER have enough checkers. I'm standing in line right now wirh 8 people in front of me. 2 other checkout lines open with at least 10 people in each line. The prices have gone insanely out of whack, the garbage cans are over flowing with trash, the produce is old, the meat browning, I could go on and on. I feel bad for the employees! My family used to work here years ago when it was Food 4 Less. It's sad to see how run down this place is. I swear even know this is the closest grocery store to me I will never come back read more

Clean store. Clean and cheap produce. They really do keep their prices under all of their immediate competition. Haven't had a problem there other than one older checker lady seems to not enjoy her job. Oh well. Only complaint I would have is the lack of organics, or if they do have them the price point is still too similar to other stores. Edit* Well they have decided to remodel which I was excited for until I noticed that they were passing the cost of the remodel onto the customer. They still have OK deals, but not like they used to be. Closer to a regular chain grocery store such as Safeway or Lucky. Oh well... what's the saying...? Nothing that good can last forever. read more

Terrible service. Here on a Sunday afternoon and I expected it to be busy but how is it that they only have two cashiers and over 50 people waiting in line. I'm still going to come here since it's convenient, but I write This in hopes of management reading my review and hopefully hiring more cashiers for the weekend read more

The management of the Santa Rosa store needs to be aware that they need more checkers to be available the lines are often 15 to 20 customers waiting. Last night there were 37 people trying to get through the line and only 2 checkers. I would also mention that the self checkout was closed although I don't like the affect the practice of using self checkout has on the community this store serves. It is better to employ someone than to pay for expensive machines Wich almost always need an employee to help or fix, look just give someone a job as a checkers instead. I would hope that the community you serve meant enough to your company to treat your customers and your overwhelmed employees a small mesure of respect an human decency, in short if there are 10 people in every line you have open for pity's sake open a new check out! read more

Really a great place for quality groceries @ cheaper prices. Be warned, place can be a total zoo during peak hours & especially on weekends. Excellent shopping choice for fresh produce on this side of town, huge selection. This store also carries a lot of specialty, south of the border, hard to find produce. Can be a little lacking on organic fruits and vegetables. Being a zoo at times, pretty dang hard to find an employee to ask questions. Count on bagging your own groceries & without help or friendliness from your checker. read more

Is customer service that difficult to ask for? This stores prices aren't that much better other then the produce to deal with unfriendly workers. Hey Omar clerk#160574 try a hello or thank you. WORST CASHIER EVER APRIL***! On a busy night after my husband and I spent hours shopping we made the awful mistake of getting into Aprils line. Honestly I'm SO disappointed by the way we were treated here because normally the employees are polite and respectful. So apparently April's boyfriend off the street was behind us in line. After pacing around and picking his 2 cheap bears up and down off the ground and yelling over us to April he asks to cut us. Mind you we had somewhere to be and why didn't he use the express lane? Why is he taking his girlfriends line to talk and then have the nerve to want to cut ahead to make goo goo eyes at her for 20 minutes while we wait? I don't think so. After that we stand awkwardly in line and as we get to the front April asks us the question again and before we can say anything the tweaked boyfriend says "don't worry about it babe they're just a pain in the fucking ass" to which April looks us up and down and goes "oh. Okay." I have never experienced anything so horribly unprofessional in my entire life. My husband responded "excuse me? Get to sleep guttermonster." To this man who was clearly on drugs and pretended to not even notice. April started ringing our products however she started piling everything up and smashing our things such as our bread and eggs. I immediately asked her to please be careful as I was clearly trying to pack my items. She turned to her boyfriend and ignored me and they started giggling. My husband and I heard them talking about "team no sleep" and about "buying some shit" and "how much for ice". I was honestly so shocked that people these days are open enough to talk about buying drugs off the street at work and about getting high in front of customers. Hard drugs too, not even pot. I thought Foodmaxx was a family establishment but I was clearly mistaken and proved wrong by April and her lover in line, which who was an ex fired employee from the store (we heard them say as well). Fired for inappropriate conduct on the job. What a joke. Good one April. read more

Price not much better than a regular grocery store. Meat case was blocked by pallets of load at 7pm. Why would you have pallets on the floor at this time when Store was fairly busy. Went to check out long lines and only 2 cashier. Cashier was on his phone looking and texting. No greeting from him at all. And no thank you also. Will I go back there? That's a NO. read more

Friendly, helpful employees. Best prices in the area. Always a pleasant shopping experience.

The best place to buy all essential food stuffs on the cheap. Unfortunately everyone seems to know this also and it is almost impossible to shop between 2pm-12 am, so I just go at 2am, its really fun! No lines, no crazy kids destroying everything in their wake or their parents that could care less to run over. 12am-7am is the best time to go to get the great price, plus a stress-free shopping experience: Cha-ching! To really "white" people this place supposedly has a thuggish persona but if your a mexi-kid or a mix its nostalgic and peaceful, I love it! Be nice to Trish, she's awesome and puts up with all of my random questions in the middle of the night. read more

Here it is approaching the end or 2019 and my review hasn't changed much EXCEPT that I have STOPPED shopping there because I am DISGUSTED that people with brand new vehicles with brand new iPhones, with brand new nail jobs can stand in line with hundreds of dollars of food (that I can't afford of course) and pay for it with SNAP/Foodstamps. Like its disgusting. Like I can't even bear to watch it any more. It makes me sick. And Food Maxx is THE place to go if you want to watch YOUR tax dollars being squandered on people who don't deserve it. Month after Month after Month, its that same b.s. Food Maxx draws them. Shop elsewhere if you don't want to wait in line forever angry with dozens of entitled people. read more

Worst foodmax in north America. Never any carts. Never any cashiers. I have walked out now 5 times because the line was insane. I will never go back. I hope you go out of business. read more

Ive been shopping here frequently for more than 3 years so I'll get straight to it. PROS: *Cheap *Open 24/7 (even on holidays) *Good cashiers CONS: *Standard selection (only mainstream products) *Dirty (expired food, trash on the floor, refridgerated items left out) *Very busy (during the day) *Hazardous (drive forklifts around quickly, overhead overstock, boxes all over the floor) *Ugly interior (aluminum ceiling, untiled floors, warehouse shelves, even after remodel) *Some rude, uncaring employees *Low quality produce. In short, FoodMaxx is one of the worst grocery stores I have been to. I only go because it's the only store open between 12 and 6 a.m. read more

I have shopped here for years because of the low prices and I really don't need the frills that other grocery chains have. The selection of products is not that diverse. The employees are generally nice but they need to toughen up and practice their right to refuse service to some people. A couple weeks ago an obviously drunk man was stumbling around the store with no shirt on. Gross! All of the employees just watched him go by. Why wasn't he kicked out? Yesterday there was a woman with a dog (NOT a service dog) wandering around the store with its leash just dragging behind it at least 10 feet. It almost tripped me and I don't want to see dog butt while I'm shopping. I told the cashier about the hazard and he just shrugged. Grow a pair Food Maxx employees! It might be time for me to shop regularly at Target. read more

The store is anything but impressive. They've broken down the store for 'renovations' for awhile and it looks like a mess. Empty aisles line rough out the store and there is no categorization of products anymore that you have to pull a store clerk aside to ask where everything is at. Security is also poorly regulated here. A homeless strolled into the store, grabbed a few items, and sauntered up to the self checkout machines and paid for just a couple items then made a beeline for the exit and walked out as an employee just sat back and observed without doing anything until he was out of the store and proclaimed, "Well! There he goes!" read more
