Open 24/7. Prefer going after midnite (usually get a couple/few "OK" mobility hours in the middle…read moreof the nite a few times each week...) Plus we generally have the place to ourselves. Naturally, all the staff are busy stocking, or cleaning, but we don't mind that. Sometimes it may take a few minutes to get checkout started, but still better than waiting in line other times of day. Plus, all the late nite staff are are actually working, and will stop to help if asked. I like the increased availability of Organic items under the store's "O" label. All the veggies, fruits, rice & frozen"O" items have been at least as good as the name-brands, & save me $$. So glad they have the sprouted bread (frozen) I need, too. Nice Floral area, have gotten many nice houseplants here over the years. Deli is OK,Dietz&Watson is nice (but pricey) & Rotisserie chickens are tasty, good for a quick, non-fried takeaway meal. They also do some decent sub's,we prefer them over Subway that's a few stores down. Not the biggest store but overall decent selection (and great sale prices, easier w/bonus card ;-) They even have a Starbucks inside, not usually open when I shop!!

Safeway Safeway…read morestore #1616 ran by FRED REISING at 444 WMC Drive Westminster, MD 21158 is the ABSOLUTE WORST GROCERY STORE in all of Carroll County. First off, their prices are the most expensive out of all the stores. Which would be ok I suppose if this was some type of Luxury Grocery store lol. But it is far from that. I have never been in this store... not even ONE TIME When they didn't have MOLDY Strawberries and Raspberries. How can this continue to be a thing at this location? I would never buy produce at this location. Matter of fact, if I were you I would shop at a different store all together. But the real reason I decided to write this review today is because of their SELF-CHECK OUT AISLES. Some time with in the year or maybe last year, Safeway decided to replace the really nice white recyclable bags they had at self check out, with REGULAR PAPER BAGS. They have since been trying to get everyone to pay $0.10 for PAPER BAGS since they made the switch. This is obviously a complete MONEY GRAB on Safeways part. Do you know they are the only grocery store in Carroll County to make their customers pay for PAPER BAGS except ALDI? Food Lion, Giant, Shoppers, Weis, and Target do not charge for paper bags. But Safeway's own accord the charge on your receipt says "Recyclable Bag Fee" which again, they got rid of the good recyclable bags a while bag. You can see by the receipt I have uploaded as of today. SO NOW, Safeway has taken it one step further to really piss off their customers (THEY HATE THEIR CUSTOMERS) -insert new slogan here. They have decided it would be a BRILLIANT idea to PULL ALL of the paper bags from the self-check outs. In place of the bags they now have a printed sign that says "Ask for a bag if you need one" lol. The majority of customers use self check out for a few reasons. 1. It may be faster. 2. They don't like or want to deal with people/staff (which is probably the #1 reason or 3. They can bag the groceries better because most cashiers are completely incompetent. Frankly it could be a mix of all 3. But NOW... not only do you have to pay for the bags and the pleasure of spending your hard earned money at this particular grocery store... but now... as if you were a petulant child have to ask for a bag. "How many bags do you need?" Well how the heck do I know... lol Seriously it's nuts. The other day I heard several pissed off customers around me while I was trying to bag my own groceries. But today takes the cake folks. Today I bought 4 items so I knew I only needed 1 bag, and today they had maybe 500 bags in a grocery cart at the front by self Checkout. So I ring myself out, I select "ONE BAG" and pay for it. In which case the register very loudly states " 10 CENTS". Indicating I paid for the bag. I then went and grabbed 1 bag from the cart and which case I was then accosted by an employee. SIR, YOU CANT DO THAT! YOU HAVE TO ASK FOR THE BAG lol. Now I'm in disbelief so I tell this employee... You watched me ring up the items... you heard that I paid for 1 bag... you saw that I grabbed 1 bag... what seems to be the issue here? She then begins to argue with me and tell me that's not how it works lol. So I tell her that first of all it's absolutely ridiculous that you are changing people for paper bags, and I repeat my prior steps to her. She then tells me to... and I quote... "JUST SHUT UP... SHUT UP... YOU JUST SHUT UP!" I guess I was making absolutely too much sense that those were the only words she could utter. But image being in your mid 40's having to ask for a bag like a child, then have to pay for... and then being told to SHUT UP by an employee? What in the hecmy has happened to this country? She probably the victim too lol. After being told to Shut up and did call her "AN OLD BAG" pun was definitely intended and she starts laughing. Then she snarkily replies "YOU HAVE A NICE DAY" in which i naturally replied "F-OFF". And this was my experience at 9:30am on a Tuesday at Safeway in Westminster. I'm serious... you can't make this stuff up. Absolutely mind-numbing experience. If you want to be treated as a child and heckled at self-checkout.... GO TO SAFEWAY!

I LOVE my Giant store in Westminster. I have been shopping there for nearly 30 years and it has…read morealways been my favorite grocery in Westminster. The store has the best selection and variety of products for my family. I read these reviews and am astonished as my experience is always positive. Do I run into a Giant employee who is cranky once in awhile? Yes, and can I cut these "essential" employees in the middle of a pandemic a BREAK? I certainly can understand their situation. In particular, I am so impressed with the Pharmacy over the past few months. Again, I am a very seasoned customer as I am 70 years old. In the past, Vonzella and Ken (former manager?) went out of their way to serve me promptly and courteously. The relatively new manager of the pharmacy, Nick, and the staff, have brought customer service to an even higher standard. I recently chose new prescription coverage for my husband and myself. I considered plans, not by premium, but, the pharmacies. If my Giant Pharmacy is in the network, I will consider it. No Giant, no policy in my house!! Thank you, Westminster Giant Associates (or whatever they call you), for giving your all, especially in this so very challenging time. You have customers who really do appreciate you. The past nine months, the grocery store has been my major outing every week. So, yes, I like going somewhere people know my face and name. Thanks! I had no idea I was going to write a love letter to the dedicated staff of Giant today!

Not thinking, ofc we've accidentally bought everyday products like yogurt just to realize they'd already gone bad before we've even gotten them home! Even products labeled to expire at a later date we will open to find they have ALREADY gone bad weeks before they're supposed to (mushy produce, black mold, bad smells, etc). A lot of the stockers are not very friendly and aren't doing their job. On a side note, we've found their supposed "organic" products to sometimes be deceptive as well -with products from well-known everyday brands being THE EXACT SAME as the generic "organic" brands. NOT COOL! We will definitely be looking at other grocery stores going forward.

Lots of great items here for very inexpensive prices. To me it was comparable to Lidl or Aldi…read more Though there were prices that were less than the two stores mentioned above. Since I do almost all of the grocery shopping for my household, I knew where prices were really fantastic versus not so much. But overall I found great buys here and I plan to sign up so that I will get an even bigger discount the next time. They don't have everything like with a big grocery store but what they do have is fantastic. You can also buy clothing here and other things that your mainstream stores don't have. I came here not long before they close so I didn't have a lot of time to look around but I plan to come back soon and I highly recommend coming here and seeing if you like it as much as I did.

They did not end up having the burgers so I just perused the store seeing if I would come across anything else that I would buy and I did not. I know the word "bargain" is in the name but it definitely gave off bargain basement like this store receives the items that don't do well in other big box stores. I did not purchase anything as I was not super impressed, the star ratings are for its neat & clean appearance, seems organized fairly well, they did have some rare brands that might be hard to find in the regular grocery stores. Don't think it was the bestest decision to sit it that close to Target but hopefully they will develop their own fan base of loyal customers. It was just okay and depending on how desperate my situation I may try them again out of necessity.
