With that being said, there are some items I'll get here including bottled, canned, and boxed foodstuffs such as soda, flour, beans but I tend to stay away from their produce and meats with a few exceptions. There are a few general merchandise items that you can find on sale but again the quality of many items are quite cheap. As for this store, the people who work here are all generally nice and it's actually the only Walmart I've ever been to where an associate asked me if I needed help finding something. I will never make fun of Walmart again…read more It was a Sunday, and we were traveling north on I-95 in South Carolina trying to beat Hurricane Sandy home. We had started the drive from central Florida at 5:00 AM. Suddenly, as I was driving, a piece of something came out of nowhere and went under the tires. A little while later the tire pressure light came in. We stopped at a gas station and I could hear the air coming out of the tire. After establishing that the next place we could get a tire change was at a Walmart off the next freeway exit, we started back north on a wish and a prayer. When we got to the Walmart, the staff took a no nonsense matter of fact approach to getting our work done. From the way they acted, I thought it would be hours before we were back on the road. However, they were able to sell us a comparable tire to the ones we had on the car at a reasonable price. Shockingly, they didn't try to sell us more than one, even though I asked if we should just get 2. In all, we were back on the road in less than an hour. And yes, we beat the storm.

When I tried to buy some heated deli items instead, I found out there were none available, even though it was still early in the afternoon. She did provide me with the deli items. When I got home, I realized they gave me a pound of turkey instead of chicken, and it cost over $11. I'm not a fan of turkey, so I was very disappointed. I know that talking to the management won't help, as this store is the only one in town and seems to disregard customer concerns. I've also noticed expired items on sale and brought them to Customer Service, but they don't seem to take it seriously. I think the corporate office needs to investigate the situation at the Manning Walmart more closely.

Competitively priced for the area and no service speedbumps experienced yet here. The Deets: This Publix is the one of the newest grocery stores in the Ocean Isle Beach area, and the one nearest to the island at this time. It's a very nice and clean store, as most Publix locations usually are, and spacious with plenty to offer. The layout is conducive to finding things you need in a fairly reasonable amount of time and not confusing to me. They offer the usual stations such as bakery, deli, etc. but they do not offer a seafood market (not that it is necessary as there are some around OIB). Their wine section is pretty extensive for a grocery store (see pic). I found the grocery prices to be comparatively more reasonable here for the most part, definitely something to be noted. I have not witnessed or experienced any service hiccups along any trips here. This Publix is a welcomed addition the OIB vicinity, and glad it offers some competition for the grocery business in the area.

The checkout lady was competent. She even thanked me for bringing my recycling bags, asked me how my visit was and invited me to come back to the store. The bagger was pleasant. He happily bagged my items and as I exited, I believe it was a manager, smiled and bade me farewell. Two thumbs up. This is a model class in grocery store customer service. I will be back.

This…read moregrocery is the closest to what we enjoyed at Publix, large produce selections, fresh cuts of meat, fresh made sushi, clean, etc. We never actually do a full grocery shop here because the prices are higher than competitors. MVP is the discount card they have, it's hit or miss if your just coming off street. If you browse for the deals beforehand you can probably get better value from this program. The wine and beer section is large prices reasonable. The international section is missing a West Indies/Caribbean portion; there were crackers but not ones we wanted the variety pack that pair w cheese. The parking lot is not small but seems cramped, the aisles are not long enough. The store is on the corner of this funky 5 way stop in Florence, I'm not sure if that contributes to parking lot layout. For us, we only stop here for few items can't find regular shopping location. For those that don't mind higher prices this store is for your grocery needs.
