As a short term visitor to Fairview, I was delighted to find a close grocery store that is friendly, clean, and fair priced.

Stopped by around 7:15pm hoping to get some chicken salad from the deli, but the salads and meats…read moresection was already closed for the evening. No problem at all, so we came back the next morning around 10:15am. We stood at the deli counter while an employee sliced meats (no one was standing at the counter), completed two items, went to get a third, and eventually walked away. During the entire time we stood there, no one acknowledged us, said hello, or even let us know it would be a few minutes. My husband finally asked if anyone could help, and the employee told him no because he had to finish the current order. What was most disappointing was that there were four or five other employees working in the deli area, and not a single person took a moment to acknowledge us or let us know someone would be with us shortly. We would have been perfectly happy to wait had someone simply communicated with us. We are not from Asheville and do not shop at Ingles regularly, so unfortunately this was our first impression. The issue wasn't that the staff was busy, it was the complete lack of customer service and basic courtesy. A simple "Hi, we'll be with you in just a few minutes" would have made all the difference.

You need to fill out a paper form. My cashier was not accommodating. Other stores will use a special card. Since we were visiting and wont be back wasn't worth a few bucks to deal with customer service. they have several locations and I am sure they are all a joke. go to Wal-Mart

The next day it was confirmed it was available for pick up. When I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised at the parking lot was huge, and the store was very clean. Somebody greeted me immediately. She was helping another customer out but she was an absolute delight. She said she was about to call me to let me know my package was there. Excellent customer service. The store itself was one of the larger dollar generals, and had a lot of stuff on the shelves. A little disheveled, but cleaner than most.

Once I went in and approached the cashier to ask about something and they were clearly speaking on a personal telephone call. They very dismissively pointed to the register on the other side of the counter and said "Go over there" not even bothering to ask what I needed. I left without buying anything. On another occasion I wen there to drop off a package for Federal Express and I was told "we're not taking packages". The store is very poorly lit, with tightly positioned shelves and cases of products sitting on the floor. It's very hard to see what is on the shelves. Seriously, I pulled out my phone and switched on the flashlight to try to see what I was looking for and I have no visual impairment. I fail to see the purpose of yet another grocery store as it is labeled. I also fail to see why we need yet another Dollar General in this area.

Ingles Markets in Fairview, NC is not contributing to Fairview's health or wellness. I only went…read morethere to buy their Harvest Farms plant based sausage pasta sauce, now discontinued. The vast bulk of goods on sale are junk with flour and sugar in the forefront. It is extremely difficult to buy ingredients for healthy meals there. It is annoying to have to make the trek to Whole Foods or Publix in South Asheville but it is a necessity for any kind of healthy diet. Can't you get with it Ingles? Stop discriminating against our community! We are not as unsophisticated and ignorant as you appear to think. Even a small separate section of healthy ingredients would draw me back into your Fairview store.

I saw a little clothing for sale by the spirits, which brings a smile to my face. Stuff like that reminds me of Woolworth's. When I went to purchase a muffin, I noticed some things: the muffins were still in the pan they were baked in, and when you removed the muffin from the pan, you could see oil in the muffin mold. Too much oil. One star off for that. However, this Ingles has period products for free in the bathroom. That is huge. That is progressive and compassionate. A lot of people have financial struggles. Sometimes you just forget to replenish your period supplies in your purse. My daughters- both with social anxiety- would never dream of asking anyone for a maxi pad or tampon in a period emergency. We check expiration dates of products before purchase. It has become second nature to us. Expired stuff is everywhere. OCD stockers are needed. While this Ingles does not project overwhelming pep, it still is alright by me.
