Some nice employees. Scanners are constantly wrong. No self check out. I'm done. Their prices are no better than anyone else.

If I could give zero stars, I would. This is my review of the store as a former employee:…read more As a former employee of Harris Teeter in Belmont, NC; I consistently experienced the most stressful work environment I have ever encountered in my 38 years of life due to gross workplace bullying from my department manager, unrealistic productivity standards due to lack of training and this particular store's overall disregard for the final product quality, and immense gossip culture. I worked in the high demanding medical field as a licensed medical assistant for 10 years making nearly $10 more and hour than what I made as an employee at Harris Teeter, but after having my son and being out of the workforce for 3 years, I landed upon a job doing something involving a much loved enthusiasm of mine that involves one of their retail departments. I thought that I had picked a job that might involve typical retail workplace stressors, but nothing prepared for the toxic environment I was about to experience. On my first day of work, my department manager made it known to me that they resented the fact that I was hired without previous experience and not by them specifically. From day one on, my manager proceeded to give me minimal training. My manager's department rules and day-to-day methods for the way they EXPECTED me to do certain tasks were condescending and changed from one breath to the next or were completely not communicated to me. I was frequently yelled at and berated with customers present by my department manager on a daily basis as a result. My manager was doing this stuff on purpose. It was manipulation tactic to drive me out. I was constantly walking on eggshells and never knew if I was doing the task at hand correctly according to the rules of the day, which obviously gave me massive amounts of anxiety. The department manager also tried their best to manipulate me into thinking I had no choice but to work on my specified unavailable days during a certain holiday week because our specific department was known for being extremely busy during this holiday. It did not matter to my manager that working those days would create a financial hardship for my family. I would essentially be paying a babysitter my entire day's worth of pay. Upper management essentially gave my department manager a "firm talking to" 3 times in regards to the way they would yell at me me, but then turned around and gaslighted me by saying that I needed to "be faster" and "more productive" because if I was faster at processing trucks and handling customer service, my manager would have the time to train me properly. Don't even get me started on the constant gossiping going on in that store. On my first day of work, I must have had at least 5 people approach me to tell me some horror story about my boss being terrible at work towards other employees and things my manager does in their life outside of work. Working at Harris Teeter in Belmont had a negative impact on my mental health for the 5 months I worked there. I finally had enough and quit my job there, which was one of the most liberating experiences I've ever had. I honestly have lost total respect for the company as a whole because of my experience as an employee for this store. Fortunately for me, I can move on and get back to playing with my plants at home and flowers in the garden this spring and summer.

Ordering and picked up or easy, except the store didn't include the ham glaze. The note to pick it up was underneath the price tag on the ham so my wife didn't see it. Preparation was well thought out by Publix - each of the dishes took about an hour to cook at the same temperature, allowing one of them to be used for everything. Looking back, I would modify the dressing and sweet potato casserole, to make them less runny. Ham - excellent flavor, and very tender. I can't comment on the glaze (see above). We ended up making our own, since Publix was closed on thanksgiving day (I support that). Dressing - it came out very runny, so I would either increase the temperature a bit or cook it uncovered longer. I was surprised that gravy wasn't included with it, but then again, I've never heard of ham gravy for Thanksgiving (yea, I've made Red Eye Gravy, but that's another meal and ham). Sweet potato casserole - way, way, way too sweet and runny. It was more like a soup. The "topping quote was added just as a glob to the casserole. We scooped it out after tasting it. blah. Green bean casserole - I really liked that. The green beans weren't mush. They were crisp and flavorful. Marshmallow delight - I can't give you any feedback because I wasn't going near it with a 10 foot pole. lol. Rolls - I was expecting Mrs. Schuberth type rolls. These were somewhat hard and crusty. Overall, it was a good experience and meal. We have tons of leftovers, so come on over.

My experiences have consistently been positive until yesterday. While checking out, I encountered an employee who seemed noticeably unhappy. She did not greet me when I came through the line, and her demeanor felt dismissive. When I politely asked if I could use the restroom, she quickly responded that it was closed for the evening. I tried to lighten the moment by jokingly asking what employees do when it's closed, but she looked at me with clear frustration and replied, "We don't go to the bathroom after 8 PM. It's closed, okay?" She also exchanged what appeared to be an annoyed look with another staff member. I understand that everyone can have difficult days, and the store was near closing time. I even understand that the restroom is closed after a certain time. However, the interaction was surprisingly unpleasant and very unlike the level of service I'm used to at Aldi. I am not upset. I mainly wanted to share this experience in hopes that she can receive additional customer service support or training, especially since she interacts with guests regularly. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I appreciate Aldi's commitment to customer satisfaction and hope this feedback is helpful.

I'll keep shopping ALDI because they're awesome. Tip 1: You need to bring a quarter for your cart deposit. Tip 2: You need to bring your own bags because their bags aren't free. Enjoy!
