This is my local grocery store just 5 minutes from my house. There is another Food Lion about 5 minutes the other direction in Smithfield that I used to go to but for the past year I've stayed with the Carrollton location.
The parking lot is large, spaces clearly defined, and there are 3-4 cart returns in the lot.
This particular store is VERY kid friendly. They have 5-8 small shopping carts for kids to push, 2 car carts where they sit on top (not the ride in like Farm Fresh), 3+ infant holder carts, and I believe 4 double seated carts. I've been during rush and have not been able to get a car cart but now that my son is 3 he likes pushing his own.
The workers are excellent about cart returns from the parking lot.. so much you may need to walk inside to grab one instead of yanking one from the lot by your car.
One thing I found odd about the store originally is that all the dairy/juices, butter, yogurt and milk are behind doors in the cooler whereas most stores there are not enclosed. It was just a bit confusing walking down the aisle and not seeing the items out in the open.
Their selection of Asian ingredients is a bit sad. I wish they carried a wider variety like ones I used to live by in Chesapeake but the demographic is different for Carrollton. The ethnic food in general is a bit sad. The lettuce choice isn't great, either. I was looking for butter lettuce and none had ever been there. The wine and cheese selection is vast as well as the organic/natural foods section.
The bathrooms are always clean.. I have yet to walk into a dirty restroom and I'll tell you with a 3 year old we have to go to every store bathroom every. single. time. we go out.
My absolute favorite thing about this grocery store would be the associates who work there. From cashier, butcher, stocker, cart pusher, front desk, self help ALL have been more than kind every single trip. They are all very child friendly.. my son says hello to everyone and they all say hello back with a smile. When we check out we always look for Amber, Kaleb, or Rachel but everyone we've been to is personable and most importantly understanding of the behavior of young children.
Sometimes grocery shopping with a 2/3 year old goes smoothly and sometimes I want to self admit myself into the behavioral health center... but not once has any of the associates been less than accommodating, kind, and understanding. They make the store worth going to. read more
