Items like a greeting card, a gift card or helium balloon, a bottle of vino, cheese, cupcakes, or salad mix and dressing. The associates are always friendly and helpful here, but isn't it like that at all Publix stores? I've never found the checkout lines to be too long. Why no 5th star? This is really not this Publix's fault: overall this store has a small footprint and that means a decrease in selection, or "a tightly edited selection" of produce, wine, dairy, and meats. There was only one checkout line available and I was second in line with only a few items and the person in front had a large basket full. There was a younger man behind me, also with a few items. I asked if there were no express lines open and the cashier said no when all of the sudden a female employee from the front of the store motioned for the young man behind me to come to the front so she could check him out. I was frustrated because it looked like there was some favoritism going on based on ethnicity since they were both the same and I am white. I just left my basket of items and walked out, never to return. I'm not saying all of Publix has a preference in who gets good customer service, but it sure did look like they got at least one employee who does. I don't need this kind of stuff in my life and I'm happy to give my business to others since there are plenty of options other than Publix available. Publix lost a longtime customer today.
