Nice deli and selection of wines. Expensive but very friendly staff members. A few feet from Homestead Suites.

Small, urban Publix unlike any I've been in before. So friendly and helpful with good sales and choices.

"The…read moreGolden Eagle" theme is "Pride of Alabama," and Star Market is one of the few stores that carries Golden Eagle syrup. Another Sorority Sister and I went to Star yesterday to get Melissa two jars of Golden Eagle. In general, any sauce or unique condiment you want is generally available at Star Market! Hubs and I love "Bishop's 3 'N' 1 Stuff Barbecue Sauce" and it's only available at Star Market. Try Bishop's it's good on any type of meat! We browsed around a little and per usual, their meat department was well stocked and well displayed. Hubs did not want a Terry's pizza this time and I by passed that little department in the back. Star Market carries unique and regional things like delicious pimento cheeses and I think I've seen Chicken Salad Chick for sale in Star, also. Sister and I wine shopped because Star Market typically carried a great selection of inexpensive unoaked white wines (Simply Naked was the label and they make unoaked Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay) that I enjoyed and now they don't appear to carry the Simply Naked brand. We did get a chilled Kim Crawford unoaked Chardonnay which was good! The staff are always friendly and helpful and most importantly chatty as you check out at Star Market. For Terry's Pizza (and Terry's lasagna) either baked at Star or take and bake; a great variety of delicious meats; good wine selection; and unique sauces, condiments, and refrigerated local items, definitely go to Star Super Market. Star is locally owned and operated and has served this region since 1944.

She leaned against me and slid her items into the end of mine all the time talking to me & the cashier?? I wondered why my bill was so much higher but I had my granddaughters with me, and was distracted by this woman and wanted to go home. Next morning I checked my receipt & she had slid over $30.00 worth of items onto the tale end of my check out!!!!!!! When I went to the store and explained they said the person to check that, including the camera footage didn't come in until 3 hours from then. Took my receipt bro & my name & number. 3 hours later I went to the store and met the person in charge who said that after reviewing the tape since I was talking to the lady it looked like I had "gifted" this stranger????? I did not, and she made it clear that she did NOT believe me!!!! She very sourly agreed to refund me after I protested & was not leaving. Shame on you, Angela!!!!! I am elderly and still hav to work part time to survive. I am still angry enough to find a way to complain about YOU personally. Been going to same location for over 30 years, at least twice a week. Not anymore.

The entrance closest to the garden center did not have wipes to clean the shopping cart handle. As we walk in I notice two Walmart employees blocking an aisle to prevent access. That seemed odd. We walked over to where the eye drops are located. I was surprised to see the shelves were not fully stocked. Hubs picked out his drops and we were off to the food section. I notice Walmart is slowly removing name brand goods and stocking their store bran, Great Value, more often. I will remind myself to buy French mustard elsewhere. This Walmart used to sell it. The pasta I used to buy here also has to be purchased at a different store. The produce wasn't as fresh as I would like so I only bought a few things. The frozen vegetables were stocked and I did pick up a few packages I needed. Overall going to this store to shop for food would be a deal breaker. If I needed home goods or kitchen small appliances I would come back.

This particular Publix is one of the smaller stores. Not as much variety but still, most everything I need. And so very convenient. The problem is that I have to check the date on every single item that I buy. Milk, of course. Yogurt too. (Last week I found Activia that expired several days prior). But hot chocolate mix? (No joke - it had expired several months prior). Baby food? Expired. Nothing goes into my cart without a verification of the expiration date. I'm not the only person looking at dates - I've seen several customers bring expired items to the registers. It happens regularly. I don't know why this particular store has such problems with outdated product on their shelves. Just be aware.

There is ample staff, but they don't really engage the customer as much as other Publix employees do. It's clean, well-organized, and has ample parking with a few covered patio style tables out front if you want to enjoy a salad or other deli item on site. The check-out lines are fairly well staff and the check-out personnel are friendly and kind. It's a nice Publix as generally, all Publix are!

I continued my drive down Jordan Lane, pulled over at JaMo's, walked in and photographed a can, and sent that to her, along with the price. ...Which is about ¼ of its cost at Williams-Sonoma. I compared. JaMo's is the "sister location" of the JaMo's coffeehouse/café just down a little and across the street. That establishment was named for the husband-and-wife team of JAmie Miernick and MOrgan Andriulli, who'd closed down Five Points Espresso to move here in the mid-90's...when they sold to Mohammed Almohthsib, he kept the name. So it's "JAY-MOES," for point of reference, even if they don't answer the phone that way. Anyway. It should come as no surprise that, in addition to the aforementioned Harissa, lovers of Levantine and Gulf Country cuisine will also find Sumac, Za'atar, Ra's al Hanout, Pomegranate Molasses, and Oud (Agarwood Powder); Dried Lemons; Mint, Orange Blossom, Rose, and Pussy Willow (?!?!) Waters; and a wealth of more typical spices and additives. There are several types of Turkish Delight or Nougat candies; Ma'amoul (which may hold you till someone can make you the real thing); Mikado Čokolada from Croatia and Ülker™ Çikolata from Turkey; and even a few English offerings (though, in my attempts to read the fine print, they were apparently produced in Africa). Call ahead to see what's come in from their bakery partners: at one time or another, you'll find fresh Pita, Sangak, Barbari, and/or Lavash. They can also clue you in to when fresh produce arrives. Visit the refrigerated/freezer cases for Halloumi, Kashkaval, Bulgarian Feta, Labneh, Plain Yogurt, and Yogurt Sodas; Halal Meats; and Zereshk (Barberries). A Turkish acquaintance of mine wishes, however, that they had more TURKISH cheeses. Dried and canned items include Podravka™ Soups (Croatia); Va-Va™ Zakuska (Red Pepper "Salsa" from Macedonia); Sadaf™ Khoresh Gheimeh. There's a very nice Tea/Coffee area, where you'll also find a variety of Tea and Coffee glasses and cups. Nearby are nicely stocked shelves offering flavored tobaccos to go with the hookahs they offer!
